Personally I think the movie should've came out near the end of September/ early October near fall before Halloween. It's still summer so people aren't into horror films too much. At least push it back when they saw the other movies like Barbie, Oppenheimer, Meg 2 and TMNT mayhem going strong.

My dad and I saw this film, and we both really liked it. There's real craft and care put into it. It felt like a real love to old-school classic horror filmmaking, and the performances were great. Plus the production design, sound design, and cinematography really made the Demeter feel just as much of a real character as the actors. There's some flaws certainly, and it does borrow elements a bit too heavily from movies like Alien and The Thing even if those elements still work, but all in all it was still a movie worth checking out. Here's hoping it becomes a future cult classic at the very least...

The interesting thing is summer blockbusters up to this point had been a thing. Fir decades going back to Jaws the first summee blockbuster studios look at summer as a great time to make money. However this year was odd because while Barbie, Sound of Freedom, and Oppenheimer made money Warner Bros wasn't expecting Barbie to do as well as it did. Oppenheimer was expecting to do ok. And Sound of Freedom had no expectations. Everyone was thinking Mission Impossible, Equalizer 3, and The Flash to be the big hits and I'm sure Universal months ago thought Last Voyage of the Demeter to do well also. But man this year's summer box office has some wondering if the era if Summer Blockbusters are done because you have to go back to before Jaws to see films taking this low of a percentage overall.

I've seen a couple trailers on TV, but one thing I feel like didn't do the movie any favors was showing the full monster in the trailers (especially a cg monster). Would've been better if they just give us little hints and peaks at Dracula from time to time and build up to a whole reveal at the end. Maybe even hiding the fact it isn't a generic vampire but Dracula for the end as a twist. But seeing the trailer, I feel like I could basically piece together the whole movie from that alone. Definitely a case of the trailer showing to much (and even then it didn't show enough to stand out enough to catch my interest).

I was super excited for this from the trailers. Maybe it's because I go to a lot of movies, but it seemed like to me there was a trailer for this in every theater I went to. I will say I was slightly disappointed with it. like it was fine, but nothing amazing. I think they could have amped up the horror a bit more, and I think the movie could have been a lot better if they hid him more in the darkness, but it seems like they showed him almost immediately. I liked it, wish it was a bit better. A bottle film, especially a horror on a boat is such a good idea, and I feel like they could have utilized it so much better. I do think Martin is right, and the ending is very blockbuster and honestly very dumb, and I kinda hated the last three minutes or so. However, I think they make a bold choice of killing a specific character that a lot of other horror movies today would not do, so that was honestly pretty refreshing. I liked it, but in a month where there is a fantastic indie horror in "Talk to Me" killing it at the box office, alongside Oppenheimer, Barbie, and even MI-7, it isn't really that surprising to me that it isn't doing very well. I don't know why they didn't release it in October

The “Dracula” character had no effect on me wanting to see this

I think this movie is gonna fallow the Thing path where nobody cared when it came out but then over the years it really grew on people and say why haven’t we heard of the movie before

I saw its yesterday, it was good but I found myself disconnected from it and the characters after a while. 🤷‍♂

Clearly you all didn't have to cringe when you saw them use "the world is a vampire.." as a trailer into... Ugh

Oh God, they did that? Good thing I didn't watch the trailer before seeing it.

Yeah I feel like they should have used Gothic haunting music. That song would be better for Renfield (which I love).

I didn't care to watch it because it's not really bringing anything new to the table. A monster on a ship? Yeah, I could watch a monster in a spaceship, a monster in a submarine and a monster on a yacht. That's not interesting. Plus.... another Dracula? The last Dracula movie to catch box office gold was Francis Ford Coppolas Dracula and that was back in 93. Maybe Eggers Nosferatu will do better.
