😊 To get this kind of humour these days you have to stay far away from city's especially Dublin. If you like good food Cork is the place to be.... Late August into September is our summer and bring light rain gear just in case..... No such thing as bad Weather just badly prepared people...👌😉 🍺🍻

This was so nice to find. I have been living out of Ireland for over 10 years and the thing I miss most is the Craic. I miss the singing and joking and entertaining stories, the Irish sense of humour in general. No other nation has such a great sense of fun as us Irish. It breaks my heart now when I look at the news about Ireland and what has happened to my beautiful country.

Just stumbled upon this. Wonderful talent from the past. Different humour then, developed for variety shows of the time. All at the top of their game including Gaybo. All sadly gone from us. This was when Saturday night viewing was at its peak. Parkinson on BBC at this time was outstanding.

This could be shown on RTE some night during these long winter evenings. It would be much more entertaining than all the" Re[eat " Programmes we have to watch e.g. Mrs Brown's Boys, etc. Good entertaining without the use of foul language and violence that is on our screens on a regular basis.

You are so right there really too-alas of course. Television these days seems so vacuous really in a way at times alas. Here in Britain BBC and ITV along with all the other channels there are seem to show a right load of crap-for want of a word-at times. Mrs Brown's Boys is shown here also but at the same time there are some real gems on at times also. A sign of the times perhaps?

Although this was not shown here in Britain as far as I know, I do remember Niall Tobin the actor, being in the series Ballykissangel, which was shown on a Sunday night here on BBC1 between 1996 and 2001 and in Ireland too on RTE at the time. He played one of the priests. That was a great series of course, we liked it here a lot. Filmed in Avoca in County Wicklow, had some great episodes too. Thank you and well done too!!

@@johnking5174 Yes that I remember too. I remember seeing it in the listings for Channel 4 first in the TV Times and later in the Radio Times when of course they were able to publish their schedules from March 1991 onwards. I think I may have recorded it at the time on the VHS tapes we had here then and we saw it later on, although I am not too sure on that really alas now then.

God it's amazing the change in Irish society in just a few years... You would hardly see one person over 50 on any of Irish talk shows nowadays, never mind the full panel.. Instead of being personality driven, it's all about some 19 year old reality star trying to flog their book. Kind of sad really.

I met Jo Mc & the band when i was 7. Back in Dan Kiley's dance hall in Ballybunion. And every one of the big show bands of the day. My mother & my second cousin's ( Johnny Barrett the one h only rip) his wife Ann, ran the kitchen doing the chicken supper. I had to bring up the drinks too the bands. And before packing up his drums, Jo Mc sat me down & showed me a bite of drumming, something to this day I've never forgotten. Sat around with the] The wolfe tones, Chieftains,Dunliners, Big Tom, Ian Dury & the Blockheads ( Hit me with your rhythm stick juila) hit song]. Sat across the table in the kitchen eating burgers & chips at 2am with Brendan Grace, still telling jokes. Too many to remember now. But if think of all the grates of the 60s 70s and 80s. That filled dance halls up & down the length of Ireland. That was my childhood summers. Now when i think about it, it was a fantastic childhood Hanging around with I suppose you can say " Supper starts " of the that time. ❤️🇮🇪
