Hello and Welcome to my channel. My name is Snowenne and I create fun, motivating cleaning videos.
Today I wanted to share with you a very unknown laundry hack. I am sure that most of you won’t know this trick. Did you know there is a secret to keeping your whites white. It’s called Liquid Bluing. Liquid Bluing basically dyes the yellow and grey out of your whites leaving them look bright and white again.
Normally this is done in your washing machine and you would add in the liquid bluing during the rinse cycle. But I decided to show you in my tub so you can see the process easier.
If you found this video helpful then please give a thumbs up as it helps the video. Also, don’t forget to subscribe so you never miss out on any future videos

Bluing has been around for decades. My mom used it back in the 40s. She would add a couple of drops to the rinse cycle. Her whites were always white...especially our white gym socks.

Our grandmas and moms knew about bluing. When more colors of sheets and socks and underwear came into fashion having everything white-white wasn't necessary, so bluing went by the wayside.

It’s been the practice of washing White’s in the Caribbean. Here we call it “adding blue” . Ours come in a small blue cube block. We place it in an old sock because it’s heavily concentrated, then drop the sock in the washer to add color to the water. When we’re studied with the amount of blue added, we remove the sock out the water then rinse the White’s. Guaranteed to get dazzling White’s. My mom is famous in our community for having the whitest whites ❤️

If you start by using a small amount and hand washing you should be fine. Even if a bit gets in the dark blue, if it’s diluted enough shouldn’t cause a problem. You can also try scrubbing the collar with hydrogen peroxide 😉

I’m not 100% sure but I can’t see why not. As long as you mix the liquid blue into the water first and start slowly because it can ‘dye’ it blue if you have too much or leave it for too long

I know many people consider it gross, but if I’m stomping stuff around in a cleaning agent either in the tub or a bucket, I just use my plunger to slosh things around. (It’s going to be pretty much clean, right? I mean you’re not going to use it if it’s all nasty and gunk covered, in which case, what the heck have you been eating?)
@vanessita4138
@vanessita4138 7 ай бұрын
I once needed to unclog our tub. I was planning on going out and buying a new plunger. I tried using the spikey hair catching stick but that didn't work. So i filled up an empty trash can. Added soap and bleach then proceeded to disinfect our plunger to the best of my abilities. Then only after i did that, I used it in the tub. It worked. I know that's not the topic at hand. But using a dirty plunger to swish clothing is a bit too much for my ocd self. Just a suggestion. 😊

@@vanessita4138 exactly. Mine may not be perfectly sanitized, but it is clean. (Also I have 2 plungers, one for toilet, one for other stuff. Well technically 3, one upstairs and the 2 downstairs)

@snowennecleans2305

I wouldn’t. The liquid bluing can be a bit much and do the opposite of what you are doing. If you put too much or leave too long it will ‘dye’ them

Why put borax in the wash? What does it even do in addition to the detergent?
@snowennecleans2305

It helps to remove odours out of clothing, they say it helps to brighten your clothes too (that I don’t really know about) and helps your detergent work better if you live in an area with really hard water 😊

@@snowennecleans2305 is that similar to oxy clean?
@spiffy8600
@spiffy8600 2 ай бұрын
No, they're not similar. Oxy clean removes stains when the sodium percarbonate reacts with water breaking down into hydrogen peroxide and water. The small blue particles you see in the Oxy Clean mixture is bluing. Borax works more like baking soda ans washing soda. The difference between borax, washing soda, and banong soda is the chemocal composition and the pH levels. Washing soda is baking soda that has been heated. The heat changes the chemical composition making it more alkaline. Therefore, it is another product entirely. Borax does not come from baking soda. It's another product that happens to work similarly to baking soda and washing soda. Borax is hard on our skin like washing soda. They both seem to be a bit more powerful than baking soda while being gentle enough on clothes and other surfaces in our homes. All three deodorizes and whitens/removes stains, by changing the pH level of the water. Hope this helps. :)
