Fun fact: there is a glass case containing one of the best armors in the game, locked behind a master lockpick check. You can completely ignore the lock if you position your cursor right and just nab the suit through a nanometer wide gap in the case door.

Almost feel like the lack of glitches are actually to the games detriment due to the games lack of character or polish. I like silly glitches but there's a point where it's simply too much. I do want Bethesda to make a legitimately good, polished game one day. Unfortunately they'll still be dragging along the decaying corpse of their game engine for the next 30 years, along with bugs from as far back as Morrowind, so I sincerely think that won't ever happen.

I really don’t like that pop culture has kind of given Bethesda a pass when it comes to bugs. If any other game came out like this it would be shit on almost immediately. But since it’s come to be expected no one cares anymore.

It’s compensated by some people being overly critical. People actually thinking this is worse than Cyberpunk are on drugs. This mostly looks like funkiness with the physics engine.

Most open world games have imperfections in the way they simulate their worlds, it's honestly a very forgivable offense. If you want to talk about the horrid state of Fallout 3 on PC or all the launch performance/stability issues, I'm with you. But as for the jank that comes with BGS games... eh. I have very fond memories of Oblivion. It has funny moments like occasionally being able to talk to a character that's dead on the ground, true. Sometimes NPCs have conversations interrupted by physics kills. But it's not a deal breaker and it has its place outside of the main story. The actual bugs that ruin it for me have more to do with game blockers-- save corruption, save bloat, performance/stability. Those are always a fun killer. I'd say the only game that truly got a free pass on bugs was New Vegas-- that game's launch state permanently soured me on the whole experience. It's the only game on the engine I'd say _requires_ mods just because of how blatantly unfinished it is, and its lack of polish shows once you're off the beaten path and start running into tons of invisible geometry or geometry without collision.

It's not that they're given a free pass, it's more that detractors hyperfocus on bugs due to some very bad games that Bethesda got genuine flack for (NV and 76). The bugs in Starfield are 90% just short animation errors, so no one really cares. These bugs aren't going to crash your game, corrupt your saves, make the game difficult to play.

I love how people got pissy at Pat because he said Starfield is Glitchy. At this point it's expected that a main Bethesda game ends up being quite glitchy. It's honestly part of their charm, I doubt Skyrim would have become as popular as it was if it wasn't for those videos of a cave troll launching you to space.
