My youngest step-daughter was in high school at the time of the Brexit referendum. She came home from school and told us that one of her teachers was crying and had told the class that their grandparents had destroyed their future. I complained to the school about it, but (predictably) nothing ever came of it.

Britain has never understood the EU and never will. It became the focal point of a domestic battle between left-wing progressives and right-wing patriots... whereas in many other European countries the EU is a non-issue or not necessarily in conflict with patriotism and cultural preservation. All that Brexit has done is to put Swedish immigrants on a level playing field with Afghani immigrants to the UK. Brexit is not contributing to a reduction in immigration.
