Also, In an interview with Larry King, George Carlin mentions how he only likes to punch up never down. Which is why you see many of his jokes are against the rich, republicans, white people and religious conservatives. You never see George making jokes on Minorities or Gays, sorry to disappoint many of you here looking for those types of jokes from Carlin.

They don’t want people who are smart enough to sit around a kitchen table to figure out how badly they’re getting fucked by a system that threw them overboard thirty years ago. They want obedient workers; People who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork, and just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shittier jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime and the vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it, and now they’re coming for your Social Security money. They want your retirement money. They want it back so they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street, and you know something? They’ll get it. Great quote about Reagan from Carlin: "The election of Ronald Reagan might've been the beginning of my giving up on my species. Because it was absurd. To this day it remains absurd. @@sisilotau2185 lol you know nothing about George Carlin or what he stood on if you honestly believed he would have been a trump supporter. He was a lifelong leftist so trump continuing the Reagan/Bush legacy of deregulation and tax cuts for the rich along with big military spending would obviously be something he would oppose. Trump wanted to send people to prison for burning an American flag. Carlin supported flag burning. Trump supports cancel culture and told his followers to boycott HBO until they fired Bill Maher. Carlin was a friend of Bill Maher's and was on his show frequently. Trump put extreme right wing federalist society judges on the Supreme Court that want to ban abortion. Carlin supported abortion rights and had the great quote; "What's pro-life about being obsessed with the unborn and then, once it's a child, refusing it health, education and welfare?" Trump was a supporter of the religious right and had goons like Franklin Graham and Robert Jeffress at the White House. Carlin frequently mocked the religious right and organized religion in general. So yeah in the future, just because you support an idiot like trump and braindead right wing ideology, don't try and make great men who fought against everything you stood for whnen they were alive supporters of it after they died. I especially liked his take on American bullshit, advertising bullshit, food advertising bullshit, organized religion bullshit, and his bit called, "people who aught to be killed". I love it! P.S. And one of his famous lines: The men who created our country were "slave holders who said all men are created equal", one of my favorites. He was so good at revealing the hypocrisy in our world. I have always viewed it from a safe distance, knowing I don't belong; it doesn't include me, and it never has. no matter how you care to define it, I do not identify with the local group. Planet, species, race, nation, state, religion, party, union, club, association, neighborhood improvement committee; I have no interest in any of it. I love and treasure individuals as I meet them, I loathe and despise the groups they identify with and belong to.” ― George Carlin, Brain Droppings “The larger the group, the more toxic, the more of your beauty as an individual you have to surrender for the sake of group thought. And when you suspend your individual beauty you also give up a lot of your humanity. You will do things in the name of a group that you would never do on your own. Injuring, hurting, killing, drinking are all part of it, because you've lost your identity, because you now owe your allegiance to this thing that's bigger than you are and that controls you.” ― George Carlin, Last Words “Government want to tell you things you can't say because they're against the law, or you can't say this because it's against a regulation, or here's something you can't say because its a...secret; "You can't tell him that because he's not cleared to know that." Government wants to control information and control language because that's the way you control thought, and basically that's the game they're in.” ― George Carlin “The habits of liberals, their automatic language, their knee-jerk responses to certain issues, deserved the epithets the right wing stuck them with. I'd see how true they often were. Here they were, banding together in packs, so I could predict what they were going to say about some event or conflict and it wasn't even out of their mouths yet. I was very uncomfortable with that. Liberal orthodoxy was as repugnant to me as conservative orthodoxy.” ― George Carlin, Last Words

Here is what he said about Ronald Reagan: ""The election of Ronald Reagan might've been the beginning of my giving up on my species. Because it was absurd. To this day it remains absurd. More than absurd, it was frightening: it represented the rise to supremacy of darkness, the ascendancy of ignorance." He was spot on. His takedowns of George W Bush were great too. I saw him in 1983 at the old Chateu de’Ville in Framingham Massachusetts. Leon Redbone opened for him. I grew up listening to all his records and knew his act forwards and backwards. Because of that, my Dad and friends got up just a minute before he finished and left outside a side door to beat the crowd. We were walking down a hallway, heard the applause, and then ahead of us out comes George being escorted by two other guys. Walking towards us, I stopped, said hello, shook hands and told him I was one of his biggest fans. He thanked me and went on his way. To this day, my favorite comedian of all time. His first 4 albums went at least gold if not platinum and that was unheard of for comedy records. The thing that made him unique was his comedy was like a play with a lot of acts; each act had a theme, a plot, and a punchline. And no he was not any sort of philosopher, he was there for one thing and one thing only, to make you laugh. He did have his views on life but when he was onstage he had one mission, get you to laugh. And no one, no one, did it better. Or even came close. Lastly yes he started smoking marijuana age 14 and went through pretty much every drug out there till later in life he got clean. Miss him, he helped me see life for the humor not the bad.

First time I saw him on HBO I was around 12 years old. It opened my eyes to comedy in a way I’d never seen. Always felt as I’d learned as I laughed and gained some perspective from his stand up . GOAT 🐐

I always wondered if George wrote all his material. It was phenomenal, genius , controversial and in your face funny. Bravo George Carlin.

Love Carlin but if you love great comedy, Jim Gafigan is freaking hilarious. His bit about Canadian maps is crazy funny if you're Canadian.

anyone on this forum who hasn't seen George Carlin, "Jamming in New York".. you need to. It was (imo) the best material of his entire career all expressed in one evening. It is his HBO special that aired shortly after the First Gulf War. So probably in late '91/early '92. He is insightful, humorous and philosophical. A joy to watch. If you like George, find this video. you wont be disappointed.
