Thats interesting.. *So the dragoons had a 'Self-destruct ability you couldnt use.. The ability to FLY vast-distances also that we couldnt use.. And the ability to control dragons like the evil-dragoons do ingame.. Which players can only half-command like those early final fantasy games for summons, And only reallly-late into the game.. .. Does anyone else get the feeling they really didnt-do this game any service by NOT giving it a Newgame+ with all those missing-featuress and more..? Or a sequel..?*

Agreed. That's such a horrible way to go out. Fatally impaled and no doubt in utter agony while simultaneously trying to keep yourself and your ally/lover from being crushed to death...

it's also just perfect storytelling. This scene comes as right after the phantom ship and serves not only as a confirmation for what the game has teased about Rose the whole game, but hits you with "yea not only that shit, but she literally was part of the dragon campaign" which gives you sooooo many questions, and (along with what we just saw on the ship) should confirm for the player that she's the black monster. You see the virage that you'll fight in disc 3, the first teasing of a Wingly city which is just high fantasy at its absolute best, and this is the first we hear the name "Melbu Frahma". This marks a turning point for not only how we see Rose, but also her relationship with Dart, which ends up being a pretty big deal later. Then the game hits the brakes hard to let you actually digest some of that shit lol. It reminds me of Brandon Sanderson's style of fantasy writing in the best way. Showing you way more than you were prepared for, and for every question that was answered you have 2 new ones. Plus, stylistically, they did such a good job bringing a Wingly city to life. If you saw that big sweeping shot of the city with the dragon flying through as promotional material, you're buying that game lol

Yeah Belzac was indeed a monster, I mean half of the strength of a person comes from the muscles on the abdomen and spine support of the back. And without them he was still holding. It's amazing!

Love makes people do some crazy things. He saw Shirley unconscious and did the only thing that had to be done. Makes me wonder , what Shirley did afterwards.... it was said she gathered the rest of the dragoons' souls and had them stay in the towers....but, i wonder if she reciprocated Belzac's love and was in agony for the rest of her time alive up until the party gets the dragoon stone from her , even though she knew she still had a part to play. Makes me wonder if she comforted Belzac , confiding why she saved each one of their souls from Mayfil. Letting him and the rest take comfort in knowing they wouldn't be experimented on and judged by the Winglies even in the afterlife. Hell the fact they recreated their homes in the towers ( Belzac being the caretaker of an orphanage....the man was just too kind, i'd like to think he didn't even want to fight, until someone told him Shirley was going as well.) I know Kazas didn't care, mostly cuz he was too concerned fighting.

Still to this day I can't watch the "Barbarian" (sorry, really dont know the name, but the "ancestor" of Kongol's dragon) scene. God. It was so god damn awful when i was a child i watched him gasping for air. Holy. Terrifying AF. Specially because i did not speak english at all at the time. So i just had to kinda understand what was going on through this brutal image... Oh my god. Really hope that i live to see the day this game gets a rework. Really do. Thanks for putting so much effort into that. Honestly.

Oh I get it, when I was a child English not been my native language also bring me some confusion in a lot of parts of the game. Mainly on Zenebatos on Disc 4, up to this day I still hate Zenebatos for that lol. About the ancestor of Kongol his name is Belzac, you can hear Shirley scream his name once she realises what's going with him holding everything there. And yeah it's one of most brutal scenes in the game. In any case thanks for passing by and commenting ☺️

Yeah and imo it was slotted very oddly in the game and just jaw dropping b/a. If i wasn't sold by that point in the game all those years ago that cutscene definitely did it.

Well I agree, as a kid I remember telling my friends about how awesome the legend was, and they telling me that FF was better, and it pissed me off lol. Eventually I started giving value to Final Fantasy after playing it (FFVIII) and today I also love those. But The legend was my first RPG and it's still my favourite up to this day. @@Aeong There were so many PS1/2 JRPGs that almost no one talks about that is just such a shame. To me Final Fantasy is like Taco Bell. Yeah it's good and easily accessible to everyone, but I wouldn't ever rank it anywhere near best Mexican food I've ever had. As far as Legend of Dragoon goes, I play it once every couple of years. Still remember where all 50 stardust are. And Rose is still best girl.

@@Aeong Nah, I don't have a DS. The most recent game I played that gave me the old school tingles was Octopath. Eiyuuden Chronicles is looking really good as it's stoking my love of Suikoden. In terms of Taco Bell, I'd agree that it's nowhere near quality food but if someone asks me if I want their extra potato burrito I'm not gonna say no. I feel like that's what Final Fantasy is to the jrpg game. They'll get you filled and you might even moderately enjoy them, but a few hours after you're done you're gonna lament the fact you didn't eat something better.

I know exactly what you mean. To me this game was so special even back in the day. I couldn't described. The music, the ambience, the story, there was just something so magical about it. I wanted to play the game all day long and when I wasn't playing it I wanted to talk about it lol. I remember some friends will even same on the occasions playing the game and been like; Are you playing that again???? Lol but I didn't mind it. It was just something else for me this game! I'm glad you got some of those feelings back!

Yeah I feel the same, honestly my memories of how "good" it looked as a child are not that different of the final result. However the fact that in was on such a low resolution and the technical limitations of the CD, plus the high levels of compression they had to add to make them fit on a CD + all the game and it's assets, was probably the hardest part. But I'm very happy of what we can achieve today 😊

Yeah Belzac death it's really hard, seeing all the original dragoons die is pretty hard but also one of the coolest parts of this cutscene!

@@Aeong Rose and Zeig the only survivors of the Dragon Campaign, but neither knew that the other survived. Zeig got resotred after 11,000 years and when he found out how long he was stoned out for he went to see the world and met Claire. Rose on the other hand got a choker that made her ageless and had to prevent the rise of the end of the world, which she fails on the recent one. The last two died saving the world but would be remebered by the other new dragoons.

Same, I wish Sony realise one day that we definitely want a remake for this game. Or at very least a remaster and from them to make them playable on the ps4-5 the original.

I know, it makes me really happy that after all this time this game can still get so much love! And yeah Albert additions were really fast, is one of the reasons I don't like him vs Lavitz (no real problem against the character.) But I had a much easier time with Lavitz additions. And yeah I wish we can get a proper remake. For now this kind of works from us members of the community it's the best we can get.

Yeah me too, I wish that was the case... The other day I read that the Japan studio from Sony was disappearing and been moved some of the remaining employees to other divisions... They made The legend of Dragoon and Bloodborne for example 😑😔 so I guess our only option left is a future blue point remake.

I was watching lobosjrs ongoing stream(he is using a ps3 with og ps1 discs) and it got to this part and i could barely make out what was going on which was shocking to me as i never had that issue before. Projects like yours are a godsend

About the quality yes, I agree, it's quite shocking I also checked some old videos when I was doing mines and holy fuck there are versions of the cutscenes uploaded to 240p here in KZfaq and those look so hard to see or differentiate anything. I had a similar experience as a kid, English wasn't my native language, so I also struggle many times making progress on the game, specially on Zenebatos. Still I really loved the game there was something so good and magical about it that even if I couldn't understand everything I still feel engulfed by the world, the music, the characters. It was amazing!!!

@@Aeong Would not of made sense As Damia was not in this specific battle. It was Zieg Rose Kansas Belzack and Shirley who led the assault on the capital. At this point damia and Syuveil had already died or were busy assaulting the other wingly cities. The magic under water city Ageis and the Death City Mayfil.

Yes! That was the sword, it also explains how quickly Dart dad falls with it. About Lloyd finding it later, I dunno, I remember that at some point in Disc 3 they tell you that it was sealed along the Dragoon blocking staff, however it was stolen. I don't know if they retrieved and later on Lloyd stole it or if they refer to this point exactly. Nevertheless it's an amazing cutscene and it's great see them fight all of these Virage.

@@Aeong I think that's also what I have foggy. Cause also technically you can get the dragon buster sword from one of the mini super bosses if I remember. I'm not sure. So did lloyd steal the sword and left the dragon block staff? I just wish they explained the weapon more

But I believe Lloyd keeps it the one of the cinematics all the way up to the end game 🤔 Also yes we are to believe he didn't stole the Dragon blocking staff, my guess it's that he used Lenus instead for it, so maybe she was only capable of retrieving just one? I guess that could make some sense 🤔

@@Aeong that's crazy 🤔🤔, the possibility that there was an army or elite forces of winglies with dragon busters and dragon block staff is a possibility. I just read the green dragoon and blue dragoon were both dead before the end battle with melbu. Apparently it's not explained why and the blue dragoon is a mermaid and we never got to go and meet mermaids. A prequel is needed badly I want one. Hell I want to help write one 😭

@@BountyRogueCinemax yeah there were other dragons not shown in the cinematic. (well I kinda feel the green dragon it's actually shown for a second flying but not sure because all of them leave a green trail while flying.) About the Blue dragoon been a Mermaid you actually get to know her as an optional boss on Disc 3, her name was Damia, you can also meet the green Dragoon Syuveil, they're all available to know more and as a fight in Vellweb at the end of Disc 3. Le di un par de oportunidades a Video enhance desde que salió hace un año, pero en mi opinión el programa aún no está listo. Además tengo entendido que abandonaron su modelo de IA para escalar CG, "gaia CG" que se supone que estaba diseñado para escalar "Computer generated content." No lo han actualizado desde septiembre o octubre no recuerdo cual. Pero hay al menos 4-5 versiones más del programa sin que lo mejoren, así que tampoco estoy seguro de usarlo alguna vez. Pero si mantengo un ojo en todos los programas nuevos que se lanzan y pruebo que sirve para mejorar la calidad de las cinemáticas.

Para imágenes no exactamente, se que muchos usan Waifux2. Yo le di una oportunidad a gigapixel y aunque me gustó lo que vi si creo que le falta un poco. En unas imágenes más desaturaba un poco. No sé si ya hayan corregido eso.

I actually have used some of those, but I'm not very happy with the results yet, they tend to fall to recognise fast moving objects and scene transitions. So for example a fast moving object can be "unpredictable" on their trajectory and they simple disappeared it in order to get the idea of motion. This happens even more so on this cutscenes because the originals on ps1 were 15 fps so IA struggles sometimes. Yet they're getting better so maybe in the future I'll start to incorporate them. Yeah I agree! I used to like a lot of those yearly triple A games, like Assassin's creed back in the day of the first ones. But nowadays I'm kinda sick of all of them. And I really wish we could get something more different or something like the good old days. Sigh...
