It's just for protection...there's a tc attack cap which doesn't extend beyond 10 or 15 vils.

@@ArnabChaks007 That's not true, for Teutons, their TC can shoot 15 arrows for with just 15 villagers garrisoned.

Well he got slung by Zippy/Villese and Rubenstock later, early TC drop annoyed Liereyy that was the main player and other 2 players. It was a team strat!

Hel low just one correction there: Liereyy was the only one in [aM'] *_not_* to have a TC dropped on his base. :-B

I think the term "legend" is reserved for people who succeed with unconventional strategies. TheMax is just a really skillful player playing the game straightforwardly. Edit: Although it is a team strategy, so he definitely deserves an honorable mention

@Lyl Why can it only play one race/map?

Sundy King probably the way it was designed and trained. You could try designing a machine learning algorithm around random maps but it would be quite hard, as you’d have to hook it up to AOE2 in such a way that it can “see” trees, gold, fog of war, etc, and then you would have to train it how to react to them and clumps of them etc. It’s fundamentally the same as teaching these things to learn how to react to player behaviours, but you’re just giving it more and more things it has to learn, and then you have to train it combine all that learnt stuff together. Starcraft is great for this kind of thing since the maps are the same so you might get away with training the algorithm purely off of prerecorded mouse movement, hotkeys, clicks, and video frames; for that you might want to stick to one map and race for best results. Machine learning with AOE2 is possible (if a human can do it, so too can a machine theoretically do it well enough too), just a broader challenge.

@@sundyking1172 They only trained it on one map and one race (Protoss), so it's unclear how the current architecture would behave when trained on multiple maps and civs when applied to AoE. Teaching it to 'see' trees and gold and such isn't a significant problem, and the current generation of AI isn't trained specifically on any of those tasks, the first step of training agents is to start with a large library of real player replays which include foresting and mining so it implicitly learns how to recognize and exploit those resources.

I've been waiting for this community game strategy. There was one game where someone walled in enemy kings and took them hostage but not handled through diplo.

I can't remember the game but yes this has happened! Lol. The one player took 2 or 3 hostages that game. It was so funny.
