Fun fact: Travis Willingham (Grog's actor) is a huge Dragon Ball Z fan and his wife Laura Bailey (Vex's Actor) played Kid Trunks in the original English dub of the series. The moment when Grog holds Silas in place for Keyleth's attack is very much inspired by the Goku/Piccolo/ Radditz fight from the beginning of the series. You can especially tell from the form Keyleth's Sun Beam (name of the spell she used) takes, as it is reminiscent of Piccolo's Special Beam Cannon.

With Cassandra it was between the two. She was mind controlled but they didn’t have to do much to manipulate her into thinking her brother left her.

Yeah it’s a combination of years of abuse, mind control, and stockholm syndrome, add to that the circumstances by which they got separated, and it’s not hard to see how Cassandra could turn on Percy.

She spent her main teen years with people acting as parental figures using a combination of gaslighting and actual mind control, which is the most mindfuckery I can imagine.

In the watch party, Matt said that It was initially mind control but they slowly changed her with stockholm syndrome and brainwashing so that they can maintain control even when they release the charm. Work smarter not harder. The charm method was reapplies once they anticipated Percy's return. But if we go by Death of the Author philosophy, we are suppose to only accept what is conveyed in the story and ignore stuff said outside the medium. So ignoring the watchparty, we can only interpret the situation to be only 100% mind control

Why Vex's arrow worked when nothing else did. Most magical shields protect from regular attacks, or maybe one kind of attack. Delilah's was a shield protecting her from magical attacks. Vex's arrow was just a normal arrow, and she rolled high. One more. Make sure and have your drink of choice ready, you'll need one after next episode. Can't wait for season 2.

One of the funny things that carried over. Ashley Johnson had to play via remote, which is why Pike is astral projecting. But, during that final fight, she lost connection right at that moment, which is why she poofed in the show. Just unreal. =)

The comment about Cassandra “awe….I wanted her dead a minute ago” 10:38 made me laugh 😆. I knew you’d come around on her but you really wanted her dead dead lol. A lot of reactors miss it but in the last episodes you see Cassandra’s eyes flash yellow for half a second. Showing she is being controlled.

So backstory on the Whispered One: In DnD there's a legendary lich (undead wizard) named Vecna whose title is The Whispered One. They didn't want to deal with the licensing to use "Vecna" from Hasbro (who owns DnD) so they're using "Whispered One." Same thing with "Dawnfather" who is the god Pelor, "Everlight" who is Sarenrae (from Paizo's Pathfinder, not DnD) and others. Additional trivia: "Vecna" is an anagram of "Vance" after Jack Vance whose pulp fantasy books' magic system was the basis for the original DnD system.

Fun point of note with this episode. When the end of the episode happened live during the game no one knew what was going on but all seemed increasingly paniced as they didn't immediately catch what was happening like you'll see in the next episode. Or why, so Matt had to give them a hint.

You're expecting Pinhead. His origin story is that he was horny and bored, and tripped into the wrong kink. Trust me. Vecna is WORSE. The Whispered One, the Dark God of Secrets. The Hand And The Eye. Perhaps the most ambitious and power-hungry wizard ever to turn a spell. Hunted knowledge and power so hard that he couldn't be stopped by DEATH, and then went on from that to ascend to dark divinity. I don't know how much of his serial numbers they'll have to file off for the show, but Vecna Ain't Nothing To Fuck With.
