Hearing Grog yell, "NOPE! DO NOT LIKE!" when seeing the demon is hilarious to us critters, since Travis is known for being a scaredy-cat when it comes to horror things. He hates ghosts, demons, etc., and constantly cowers when those elements show up in the game. Which makes campaign 3 that much more hilarious 😁 No spoilers, just... Marisha 😁

Actually, it's worth saying that dragons do not typically work together. They are too vain to work with anyone else. So 5 dragons of different colors working together is completely unheard of.

As a (could be spoiler) note: The one they originally killed was an Adult Dragon, these four are ancient dragons. And dragons get significantly stronger as they age.

Basically, the demon was playing "dead" hoping to have another heyday (come back to kill the rest when Percy's not as aware of its presence). But Scanlan threw it into the acid. Which Percy was much much much more upset about in the live show. I believe he told Vex, "That's coming out of his funds!" (Vex was their treasurer and would dole out the party funds equally). The Gem is probably a piece of residuum which is what Whitestone is known for. I believe that's what Delilah had on her neck, and was 100% what Ripply used on the Ziggurat. It's an insanely useful substance. But that's a story for another time :)

Fun D&D fact about that "tree teleportation" spell Keyleth used: it's a druid-only spell called Transport Via Plants, and it's one of the most powerful transportation spells in the game, because it can teleport you *anywhere* in the entire plane, with no limitation on range, as long as you've seen a plant there before. It's specific to druids. However, when she said "I can't hold it for long", she's not lying: the portal lasts for one round, which canonically is only... 6 seconds 😂

I knew what was coming at the end, I still wasnt ready. From the moment I saw Gilmore, I knew what this scene was and I felt sick the whole time. Also, these lovely ancient dragons are not Brimscythe's family. They are the "larger plot" Uriel mentioned at the end of episode 2.

I believe the reason that Orthax stopped attacking when Percy shot his hand was the pain forced Percy's body to finally let go of The List. At which point, Orthax retreated to the gun, hoping for Percy to pick it back up, but Scanlan outsmarted the demon.

The gem on Percy's hand was most likely more residueum (sp?) That they were making underneath whitestone. Delilah had some on her necklace. As Anders showed in the flashback it can amplify magic so she used it to be more powerful.

The deal with Amazon was that they would stream their show and in return Crit Role retains full creative control and Amazon funds 2 eps in the first season to make it 12 and a full 12 ep second season.

the dragons are not exactly "friends", chromatic dragons don't make friends, that is what makes this so surprising.

There's comfortably enough content for 5-6 seasons. Given the budget for a full season of Vox Machina is close to just one episode of Arcane, coupled with the fact Vox Machina has been solidly in Amazon's Top 10 since it day 1 - my hopes are pretty high we'll get to see the full story.

If you remember back to the second episode when they found Krieg's private office. There was a rug with five dragon heads on it...check it out...there was also 4 orbs in the dragon's lair, where one turned into an eye and said intruders. These are threads set from the very first episode that lead into season 2 and hopefully season 3. Matt Mercer did this all the way through the campaign, where something the party found out 35-50 episodes pay off in the plot.

The show was actually green lit for a 2nd season before the show even aired. Pretty sure the 2nd season was a must for Amazon whenever they picked them up. I won't be surprised whenever we get season 2 in production, for Amazon to also announce that season 3 and maybe 4 will be confirmed as well.

The Jewel is a nod to (and probably the show version) of something he built in the campaign he named "Diplomacy" which was basically a taser gauntlet which he eventually upgraded to be able to cast a bubble of magic silence around himself so he could use his gun without instantly alerting everyone within a mile of them where they were.

In the second episode there was a portrait on the floor of Kriegs residence of 5 dragon heads spiraling. Which usually means Tiamat a dragon goddess, but in this cae it meant 5 dragons working together. Cant wait for season 2

Personal interpretation of Percy's shooting of his hand. The demon can't just steal souls willy-nilly. He relies on Percy to kill so he can reap the souls of those *he* kills. When Percy shot his own hand, it was a statement. 'Leave me alone or I will only harm myself and thus, you will lose your only soul dealer' so the demon retreated as if to say 'fine, you win this round', plotting to wait until he could build that hold over him up again. Scanlan's tossing of the gun into the acid severed the bargain because 'The List' (Percy's pepperbox) is the only weapon whose kills allow the demon to claim the souls taken with it. As for the gem, it is not Delilah's but it *is* Residuum glass from Whitestone and may be a hint/reference to another weapon Percy developed called 'Diplomacy' which I won't spoil any further.

My favorite episode, honestly. Even in the original campaign, I adored the Briarwoods Arc and the Orthax.

Also remember the voices that warned Brimscythe that VM was in his lair? Ye. That's them. They are Ancient. The second oldest/most powerful age category. The oldest age category (Ancient Great Wyrm) are almost as old as the Dragon gods, and are insane(ly powerful, but suffer from an overwhelming perpetual one way psychic connection to younger versions of themself that are alive at the same time as them in other worlds, EVEN IF THEY ARENT DRAGONS.) That was a fun bit of Dragon lore I incorporated into all of my PCs.

To me, Percy shoot himself in the hand was like Ed Nortan shooting himself in the face in Fight Club. It was just enough to put the thing in a box.

Season 2 was already confirmed/paid for after they signed up w/ Amazon Video for season 1.

I honestly think the whole Dragon storyline could last us for several seasons. plenty of material to adapt and lots of personal character arcs to explore.

The second season was already greenlit, back when Amazon picked them up in the first place. The kickstarter originally was just for a 30-40 min special, then the Critters blew it out of the water and raised $11.3 million so then they were going to do a 10 episode season, with a yet to be determined form of distribution. Then Amazon picked them up, basically funding the second season in exchange for the streaming rights (I'm sure the actual deal was more complicated than that, but effectively, Amazon is paying for season 2). Now what we're hoping for is a third and fourth and fifth season XD. Or at the very least a third, because the next arc is a long one, and having to squeeze that into one season would be a shame.

Can't get Beads of Love out of my head to this day.

The Briarwood arc & the Chroma Conclave is definitely 2 of my favourite arcs from Campaign 1. I already can't wait to watch season 2.

Critters are an army. When the Kickstarter finished (around 800k goal, over 11M final) the Amazon deal happened and they said Amazon would pay the 2nd season. They broke 1M in the first hour of the Kickstarter

Good news everybody. The fans paid for s1 and when Amazon picked them up for distribution they went ahead and funded s2, so we get at least one more round with these guys.

I'm sure others beat me too it but season two was confirmed before they even started airing the first episode and it's amazing to think about the path to here. They started a kickstarter to raise a few hundred thousand dollars to do a one off animated special and within hours they had exceeded it by thousands. I don't know the exact numbers but I heard somewhere that it was a million dollars in less than a day. That's just a taste of of how big the critter community its

I think the shot to the left hand was because that is sort of where his inspiration and creation came from. In episode 4, you see that he's apparently left-handed as he works on a design for Bad News, and he uses the same hand to hammer while forging his Pepperbox. That seems to sort of be where in him Orthax lives.

I loved the watch party. They had a line-off. Taliesin (Percy, also Blanka): And Delilah: it comes as no surprise, after losing your husband, that you started seeing a 400 year old blindfolded corpse, and you still got ghosted. Grey (Delilah, also Fire Princess Azula): Percy, I heard you were the life of the party, but only at family gatherings.

Hey Robert and Vanessa! Haven't finished the reaction but thought I'd mention while I was thinking of it, the show was greenlit for 2 seasons immediatly from the start, we just got confirmation that s2 will drop around the end of Jan 2023 and They've been greenlit for S3!!!!

Let us introduce you to the Chroma Conclave every one of those dragons is leagues more powerful than the one in the first episode and they are ready to ruin everyone's day about a million times over. To put some in universe perspective on this what they saw with those 4 dragons would be the modern equivalent of seeing a nuclear missile being launch at every major city in the US it is the stuff apocalypse fiction would be made of in D&D lore.

Just four ancient cromatic dragons. Each one of them able to flatten a city alone.

Oh, did you guys not see any comments about this? The kickstarter covered most of season one before Amazon came along, and Amazon topped the first season to 12 episodes and immediately greenlit a second season. They had a second season confirmed pretty much before they even started working on the first. The question is whether they'll fund a third.

Season 2 was Green Lit by Amazon well before Season 1 was even half way through production. I expect we'll hear about 3 and possibly 4 in the coming weeks.

Just as a heads up, I believe there was at least a few weeks between the last scene and when the arrived back at the keep! Love the reactions!

Amazon funded a second season when they picked up the show after the success of the Kickstarter. So we know the second season is coming it just whether or not we get more than that that we are waiting on now.

I know that tons of people have probably already came here to say this, but I have to say it just because of how ridiculous/awesome it is. Amazon confirmed Season 2…way back in November of 2019!! (There’s a November 9th 2019 Deadline story to corroborate that) It’s incredible that they saw the success of the Kickstarter and knew that they had a winner on their hands and REALLY wanted to invest in it!

Season 1 was already paid for by fans. Amazon didn't pay for anything. This season was all us with our crazy Kickstarter money. When Amazon picked up the show to be the distribution platform, they funded season 2. It was greenlit already from the beginning and on Amazon's part it was automatically a good investment because they own Twitch which CR is hosted on and is the channel that makes them the most money. They'd be stupid not to.

It might have been explained, but Percy was, in fact, a Warlock Hexblade. A magic user who forms a pact with an otherworldly being for power in weaponry. In this case, his 'magic' was in the guns the demon inspired him to build. When he shot his own hand, he was 'severing the pact'. It was the culmination of all the fighting against the demon he'd been doing for two episodes. But, Percy was still weak and could easily be repossessed. Destroying the weapon helped stave off the demon's hold so Percy could continue to fight it. Percy's class was a very unusual one as it was a homebrew. This group had been playing Pathfinder, which had gunslingers. When they began the stream, they switched to D&D 5e, which did not have guns. Matt (DM) homebrewed the Warlock Hexblade so that Percy could use his genius to develop a gun as his weapon of power. This information had been kept from the other players and they only thought Matt had helped Taleisin develop a gunslinger homebrew. The revelation that Percy was indeed a Warlock was a surprise to everyone else. It played out very well. Of course, without the Warlock pact, Percy becomes an Engineer fighter who specializes in guns but doesn't have the Warlock abilities to go with it. He did, however, put the residuum gem into his hand (perhaps an easter egg to the glove he developed in the campaign which he called Diplomacy).

Percy drove out the demon by trying to protect Delilah from it. He put his hand over the barrel to try to block or throw off the shot. The ultimate expression of letting go of his vengeance and hate; he tried to save her from himself.

Season 2 was confirmed in November of 2019.

may be selfish of me, but I wish they would've had a chance to show us the sheer scale of these dragons. Shadow over the ocean was a good indicator but still.

Even if Amazon dropped them (which would be crazy), they've already proven they can finance themselves.

I think they did very well this first season, they managed to condense more than 60 hours of gameplay that this arc has, into a season of something around 240 minutes.
