I’m a Gokaiger “stan”, so you can probably guess my thoughts on Legendary Battle 😂 but I do have to say all the Ranger teams from Mighty Morphin to Samurai appearing on a cliff and posing was cool.

I thought the legendary battle was going to be the first episode of super megaforce, and it should’ve been. Then, you could have the cast members come in throughout the series, and slowly reveal that they were the Rangers that the megaforce Rangers were fighting alongside in this battle, while they were gaining the legendary ranger modes of the past 20 seasons, and using the legendary zords and stuff. That’s how the season should have gone. Then they wouldn’t have needed to make the extended episode with the Gokaiger final battle footage, because the footage itself would be in the super megaforce final episode.

So the green samurai ranger was supposed to have the dragon sheild is it me or am I sensing a pattern with the dragon sheild

I just wish the legendary battle was longer and wasn't hyped up from the first episode because that lessened the effect and suprise from the battle

I think it needs understanding that Gokaiger's many cameos is the result of the Fukushima disaster. IIRC Gokaiger was never planned to have that many veteran actors returning, but those veteran actors decided to return anyways to cheer everyone up. Plus, ever since PR "died" after RPM, fans moved on to Sentai and that's how most people got into it in my opinion. Thus, it creates the perfect storm of fan expectation and happy coincidence, and it's very much clear Saban could never measure up to it.

i can change that the legendary battle was extended. After Emperor Mavro was defeated, he revives King Aradon, King Mondo's arch nemesis using Black Cross King form and the Power rangers stop him and the ressurected Vrak, Sculpin, and Venjix.

The Pokemon equivalent to the hype train of Gokaiger/Megaforce-Super Megaforce was certainly Ash vs. Alain in the Kalos League. I remember fans going nuts because for the first time our boy Ketchum made it to the league finals and had the coolest Pokemon at the time; Ash-Greninja. I came into my office job 30 mins early to catch the episode before I had to clock in (I'm talking as it aired in Japan so not too long after 7 A.M.) only to find out his LOST! Man, I took off early that day just because I was that ticked off... Ironically, the Legendary Battle (Japanese) is what first got me into Sentai so I can't be mad at it. Although the lackluster American version was enough to tick a lot of fans off. Similar to Pokemon XYZ, the hype brought fans who had dropped Pokemon all together over a decade ago back into the franchise only to be disappointed...same with Power Rangers... Great video!

They claimed they were adding new footage for the legendary battle but at best it was maybe ten seconds. I’ve seen fan edits handle the legendary battle better than saban

To add to Gokaiger as an Anniversary series, it aired the same year as Kamen Rider Fourze, the 40th Anniversary series for Kamen Rider. Fourze did start late into the year, but they had a cross-over movie with super sentai. All of the Super Sentai teams and every single Kamen Rider appeared in that film, along with introducing Go-busters.

The Legendary Battle and surrounding episode is basically the Omni Man meme "Look what they need to mimic a fraction of our power" where Omni Man is Gokaiger

I was disappointed to see that some of the Japanese Sentais appear in the Super Megaforce show during the Legendary Battle/ Dream Sequences, the instant I saw it, I knew things weren't going to turn out well for the show.

They really thought the pirate theme for PR wouldn't work? Hearing the concept, they should've just stuck with it. Could've been a fun season to bring old fans back and new fans in

Personally I think Megaforce and super megaforce needed more than just 22 episodes. And why couldn't the holiday theme episodes be put in with the story and not just little side stories that who knows what they take place? This show could have done better.

Remember this was filmed in New Zealand, not America as Disney moved Power Rangers to New Zealand in 2003

I blame the writers or who ever was in charge of this season, didn’t really put much effort on the that show as I think. They didn’t put much care on this show as there wasn’t a lack of proper, storyline and most of the characters wasn’t develop that much. Specially Gia, she didn’t get one focus episode on her or about her. The rest of the rangers at least got one, or a least a small bit of focus. But she didn’t get one out of the whole season. I just believe the writers and producer didn’t, really care to put any effort on that season. As I’m not surprised that the ending and the team up special, was kinda terrible and a let down finale.

The overhype created for the Legendary Battle since Episode 1 of Megaforce and its intro made it seem as the biggest thing. But, due to all the rushing of development and the adding of non-adapted sentai, left it very lackluster. Especially after the team made budget cuts to remove some rangers and some that didn't even come. This is what happens when you reveal something 2 seasons before it occurs. The Legendary Battle is the biggest Anniversary letdown in Power Rangers history.

Personally, If I knew the budget couldn't account for everyone, I would have just invited the OG 6 and maybe Samurai because they were the pervious team. Any other budget would go to those already in New Zeland.

In short...Haim Saban ruined everything by being like always,Haim Saban,and not wanting to spend more.

could you imagine the position power rangers would be in today had they capitalized off the popularity they had since moving to nickelodean. imagine if they made seasons as quality as spd, dino thunder, rpm, etc. or you know, the literal show they were adapted off of (gokaiger)

Actors not wanting to come back because of no character development/lines is a bit awkward because some of those people came back for Dimensions in Danger and also said/did nothing. As a millennial in my late 30s who grew up with the original season and didn't grow out of it, it was disappointing to see rangers like Rocky, TJ and Trent still barely get any lines. While the series is on hiatus now, I hope they rethink how they do cameo/fanservice specials in the future and make them more like Once and Always. The cast was smaller but everyone had relevance. The last few teamup specials just felt like they wanted a big quantity of cameos with no budget or allotted timed to have them actually do anything. Isn't it insane how many times TJ has come back, yet the only time he really had any lines was Forever Red?

Just the fact that they film literally across the world to avoid paying decent wages and respecting basic labor laws speaks volumes. Every corporate job that requires you to travel will pay all your days of travel. But they refused to do that here? Meanwhile they still have a free license to make money off of these people's faces. There is a mobile game that uses these actor's images and makes thousands and thousands of dollars, same with the toys, but then the actor is expected to go film for a couple hundred dollars and that's it? I don't understand how more of them aren't more vocal and bitter.

Over 20 different teams, 2 decades of content numerous story threads and the end result was just a massive disappointment even at face value when (Super) Megaforce is compared in whole to Goseiger and to say nothing of Gokaiger they truly screwed the pooch on this golden opportunity

Saban could use the Alien Rangers to explain the Sentai teams that was never adapted, saying that those ranger teams are ranger teams that was never seen on Earth and is currently operating on different planets, they could also use this to explain the Super Megaforce powers, stating that they are a ranger team in the past that crash-landed on Earth and lost their communication entirely, it's could explain the different suit design

I think what they could’ve done is that at the end of megaforce they go off into space for a couple years then they can come back as the pirates like in the original version and if they did this then saban could’ve used a lot more of the footage and then there would’ve been more money for the budget

When Super Megaforce was going on, my uncle took us to SacAnime for my brothers birthday, we were walking around, got exposed to Super Sentai for the first time and bought a Gokaiger Green figure. Then we went to a meet and greet with the Megaforce cast and it was amazing, they sang happy birthday for my brother, signed his figure and we took pictures with Jake. Then even later on we got to meet Mighty Morphin black after their thing. It was truly amazing lol

I think what Saban could’ve done for both seasons of Megaforce, is giving the Rangers some development for their characters. Like the idea of Troy being the Chosen One is the fact that his father who he grew up not knowing, is from Eltar. The Planet that Zordon is from. His father came to Earth, when the first Power Rangers made their debut. Around that time his father met his mother. During that time, his father was doing a task for Zordon to work with Gosei, to analyze the Rangers battles & powers. Before going back to Eltar with Zordon, when Dark Spector launched a massive assault on their World. Which was after he married Troy’s mother, & when he was born. His father died, when Dark Spector took over Eltar, while capturing Zordon. Since then, Gosei would watch over Troy until Earth is being invaded. Troy would become aware of this, during his final fight with Crepox in the 7th episode. He soon finds out in the finale Endgame, which is split into a 2 pt finale. He gets why he was having visions of the Legendary Battle, & why Gosei made him Red Ranger. He talks with his mom about it, & he gets used to it, that he’s part Alien because of the father he grew up without. But was lucky to have Gosei as a father. And that some of Zordon’s Z-wave was absorb into him, despite being part Eltar. As for Robo-Knight. It would be interesting if he was the original Alpha model, long before Alpha 5 & 6. He died saving Zordon when he sealed away Rita & her lackeys in the Space Dumpster. So Alpha-1’s remains were entrusted to Gosei, who rebuilt him into something that might come in handy in the future.

The Legendary battle was a disappoint. Many former ranger actors refused to come to New Zeland where it was filmed. The ones that were there didn't have much screen or face time.

I would have liked to seen a BUNCH of rangers return. 1.) The SPD KAT Ranger 2.) The Alien Rangers 3.) Operation Overdrive Sential Knight, 4.) Mystic Force Wolf Warrior,

The main problem of this whole thing was making it a single episode, they should have made it at least a 5 part finale, that way they would have been able to film new footage, get more time to the legendary teams, they could have recorded either a zoom or a video call with the rangers that weren't able to fly (as a way to let them be a part of it), come up with a satisfying ending and also give a way better reason as to why the legends reams were needed. Saban had their own avengers Endgame moment and they decided not to do anything with it ....

The legacy battle would have been a great lead up to needing Megazords and their heavy weapons. SMF powers should have been given to a new team, had MF nearly destroyed by the stronger invasion force. Gosi sees humans taking a stand and summons them. That's a more realistic outcome, as the invading force cuts off MF from their base and uses far more powerful monsters to nearly destory them, with a sacrifice to ensure they at least live to get to the final battle. He explains the other Rangers are not fit for combat, and their powers will not be of use in the second invasion, so he gives them the Cutlass Cell Morpher, crowning them Marauder Force. Then have a representative of a Legendary team in each episode gate guarding the keys until the Marauders are ready for such power. The final battle consists of three parts: Part 1: Basic fight against minions Part 2: Signature Weapon/Power against Monsters Part 3: Megazord fight against the boss and a lot of high ranking monsters, every Legendary Megazord and Marauder Megazord in a big fight to end the invasion. The entire production was a sh*tshow. It needed a far large budget and far better writing. It would have been nice to see Bridge as Red SPD lead a new team with Syd Drew as Blue and Sky Tate as Shadow Ranger.

For me this season doesn’t exist. I just watch Gokaiger and rewatch at least once a year.

It's funny I am from germany and in the german episodes there is some extended stuff like the tommy scene with the kid or the scene where they put on their helmets and everything with the legendary ranger but not like the fight against the emperor with the legendary ranger mode or some fights against the goons from the emperor so everything a bit complicated

I remember watching this out of morbid curiosity and stopping when the break between the first and second half of the season happening. I also vaguely remember JDF saying he knew that Samurai pic would rile up some fans. Don't know if those were the exact words.

Just hearing that phone call with Jason David Frank brings a tear for my eye. He had so much passion for the franchise and us the fans, we couldnt have asked for a better Green than him

My issue with the Legendary Battle is that they should've just stuck to using the footage from the opening of Episode 1 of Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger AND the 199 Hero Great Battle movie respectively, with an ending showing civilian versions of the Mega Force Rangers and any past rangers who agreed to sign on for this project in the aftermath of the battle with the "Rear Guard" of the Zangyack Empire.

The failure of this event is purely logistical. There are around 50 individual power rangers. A typical power rangers show is around 22 minutes long (excluding commercials and opening and closing credits). That means to give everyone equal time, characters will only get 30 seconds of screen time. What this means is only two things could happen: Either each ranger gets equal time, or some rangers got sidelined with only one or two snippets of dialogue. The second happened. Even if the show had been two hours long, you'd be lucky if all characters got more than two minutes of screen time.

Fans: "Gosei why are there Sentai teams here?" Gosei: "There's a simple explanation for that." Fans: "What is it?" Vrak: "Far too complex for you to understand."

This has me thinking about that James W Bates interview & how Jonathan Tzachor spent money literally recreating scenes from the sentai by bringing in sentai directors (who didn't speak english proficiently or spoke english but in a heavy accent) & having translators for them to communicate with the production crew, also having translators for scripts since Tzachor just used original Japanese sentai scripts. Maybe Linkara was right when he said that they had the minimum budget for this legendary battle but Tzachor spent 90% of it on things that ultimately ammounted to nothing. Also what was with Tzachor hating Disney seasons? Mind you Disney screwed them over repeatedly as well as much as they could.

So this is someone who had returned to the PR craze and then getting into sentai as well. I started with Gokaiger only after hearing SMF was a disappointment and wanted to know the counterparts version. I didn't have much hype with the non-PR rangers that appeared and had massive hype with the many ranger suits that I knew. Thats when I realized how this was a problem for PR. Most of the footage from the movie and episode being unusable. Given the fact that there are ranger teams we never seen and footage that was shown of rangers we did know made it hard for them. Then with the theme of Gokaiger as each episode or two parters mostly dealing with a returning cast member. Even then many of the past rangers were glossed over with its secondary villain Bosco. For Super MegaForce to be good they had to be a full length series that each episode dealt with a returning ranger giving the power to the new rangers. But then there are things like "who represents the power the best?" And so on.

Sending out an offer letter knowing you can't afford most of them was dumb. Just pick a select few you wanted and then just send the offer to them. 🙄🙄

Honestly, this whole ordeal in hindsight taught me a very valuable lesson about keeping personal expectations in check. Don't get me wrong, I still have this lingering feeling of disapointment, but I should of seen the writing on the wall that it wasn't going to fully live up to the hype.(But then again, I was like 15-16 when SMF was first airing so I didn't have the most enlightened worldview at the time.) But let this serve as a reminder to hype responsibly.

for the ones i would love to have been invited, def they should have brought back all the rangers who acted like mentors, so doggy kruger from spd, RJ from jungle fury, cam from ninja storm, glad they got JDF at least, but they should have gotten more former mentors to the past rangers especially since when they got their morphers it made a big splash, so if we could have seen them return it would have been awesome in my opinion, also i feel they should have had Merrick Baliton wild force wolf ranger and Zen-Aku join the battle since they were roaming the earth together after their ranger team split up, so u would think when he got wind of a invasion he would show up to help

When it comes to returning Rangers, I would have kept it to those who had tie-in Megazord modes like how it was intended with Gokaiger before real life events got more actors wanting to be involved. So Mystic Force, SPD (somehow), Wild Force (maybe you convince Rick Medina to appear as Cole), Samurai (I'd have Jayden with Lauren instead of Mentor Jii), Ninja Storm, and RPM, Jungle Fury still getting a tribute is optional here, and maybe you include Time Force for the Q-Rex. You have them for the tribute episodes, but keep them around to do the rescue scene and appearing helmetless before the Legendary Battle with the final returning actor being JDF leading the returning Rangers still so you still get that moment, but it's at least with those we've seen in past episodes over a random selection lead by Tommy.

I barely remember the legendary battle hype, because I was looking forward to Dino charge at the time. The only reason I didn’t care about super megaforce, was because I wanted my first Power Rangers series to basically not continue on from the previous one like the “super” seasons Usually do.

I hated the shade of green used for the suit and why couldn't they have made the shield look more metallic rather than hard foam? Sure it was better shield than the og series but the green color used was awful. Also I hated samurai and the others so glad he didn't give his shield lol.

PR giving a preview of the next season after the end of the current was NORMAL. The first time they did it was between MMPR and Zeo.
