The platform was actually explained as a result of Ryotaro not having enough fighting spirit. The imagin, upon possessing him, takes over his body, and as a result, their Den-O form comes out. All Den-O riders have a Plat Form, it's just that because all but Ryotaro have a strong fighting spirit, the transformation bypasses the in-between state that is Plat Form and goes to their personal form instead. The reason why there are four buttons is basically just a toss-up though. I've personally accepted that its time paradox shenanigans, being either the belt was made in the future for the Den-O of 2007, so they knew what to make, or that's just the standard design and fate just makes it so any spirit-less Den-O's get some kind of possession to help them.

The zeronos card(Altair and Vega) erases the present Yuto(hat man) and the Zero cards erases the past Yuto(the one we know)

My theory about the belt's buttons is that the imagine's looks and personality is based off of the contractor's deep deep imagination. So like, Momo looks like that because that is what ryotaro's imagination comes up with. I could have sworn they mentioned this in the beginning but this is also highlighted in Seig's episode. Seig thinks the world revolves around him and has a short attention span and memory, much like his baby contractor. He is white and bird themed, his baby contractor grew up in a rich home that was representative by a white goose, therefore the baby imagined seig as a white pretty bird. Anyway going back to the belt, perhaps the colors of the buttons is what influence the colors of the imagine (even tho kin and ryuuta arnt quite the product of ryotaro's imagination)

Speaking of Kai's plan, I love the Crayon Shinchan crossover. It opens up Shinchan's mother to go back to a time when he wasn't late for school, only to find that there is no such time--Shinchan is ALWAYS late for school.

The important thing to consider and remember is that Alt/future Yuuto, and young yuuto are seperate people, kinda. Also that Memories are considered a time travel mechanism, and is the metric of which impact on the timeline is measured (which is why they are used as a fuel source for the Zeronos System) The (green and) yellow Zeronos Cards are (alt/future's) Yuuto's impacts on the timeline (memories of future yuuto). (Young) Yuuto wasn't really at that severe a risk of being erased from the timeline when using the Yellow cards, because those were at the expense of (alt/future) Yuuto's existance. Unrelated note, you could say that in this context, Deneb form is an expression of the relationship and bond that Deneb and (alt/future) Yuuto had. Namely, absolute trust, given that he's trusting Deneb to guide past him, into a future of his own design. This is until (young) Yuuto uses all the green cards (that Deneb Gave him). In theory, (alt/future) Yuuto should dissappear. But he doesn't, because Deneb is secretly holding onto one of the yellow cards. (Young) Yuuto has to start relying on Red cards now, which are based in the present, and his impacts on the timeline. Red cards put young yuuto in active danger of disappearing (until one of the movie reveals where that gets undone, and it completely 180s backwards from one of the plot points of one of the yuuto arcs). The reason why Zero Form is more powerful could be that these are fresh memories, or are part of the current timeline, and as such have more impact when being burned, or that the system is better synchronizing with (young) Yuuto, because it's using his own energies.

When Zero form debuted, it showed memories of him rusting away his armour and become black and white while disappearing (the pictures), while it turns his green suit red. I think that while the other cards take away his memories, Zero just boosts it, like maybe more monitors or more impactful ones? Like when he goes on a date then the girl forgets about him 😭😭😭😭.

You could just use Yuuto for our guy and Sakurai for his older counterpart. That is how it works for 13 years now.

Ah Den-o one of my favorites and it will always be. I do agree that this show didn't need a main antagonist because Kai was not really good. If you made him Nega Den-o that would be fine but other than that the Imagin could work without him. But I do think he is still threatening enough. Also yes you are right, Zero from has a draw back, once those cards are all gone they are gone unless Yuto can find an alternative way to use it again. Which is what happens in the movies later. What it does is it makes him a better fighter and it's stronger than Vega form and is a better option for shooting. Now why does not Hana do it, I think it was to make sure not to put a big target on her back.

On the Imagins that are on the side of Den-O, you didn't notice, or simply didn't mention, that they reference traditional Japanese folktales and legends : Momotaros is Momotaro Urataros is Urashima Taro Kintaros is Sakata Kintoki/Kintaro Etc...

For the Den-O Rider System, the wiki kind of implies that it's based on the Rider's will-power. This doesn't explain Hana's deal but I think this explains why Ryotaro can't use other forms alone besides Plat Form. Like, since Ryotaro started out as a shy, passive-like guy at the start, he wouldn't have enough will-power to form the armor needed for other forms thus the need for the imagin whom have enough will-power to properly become a rider. In Liner Form's case, since it's Ryotaro's form alone, I believe it shows how more confident that Ryotaro has become even to the point of the DenKamen Sword being optional since Liner Form takes the place of Plat Form on being the base form.

Why Hana is not a Rider 1. The Den O system probably works when an Imagin posses a Singular Point 2. Hana cannot bind a contract with an Imagin because she has no past (At those times) 3. Hana also dont like being in contract with an Imagin (At those times) probably if Den O would be back again in Reiwa Era, maybe Hana could have her own Rider suit

The reason the imagin went back tot he past because that's the contract they make with the people they possess. In exchange for that person's desire they take 1 day of their life, and they can only exist in that day. It's the same reason they start out in that sand form.

Den-o means a lot too me as it was a show me and a good friend of mine watched weekly and it’s a time will always enjoy in my life and I won’t ever let go of the memories I miss you Conner R.I.P

I think den-o is a great Kamen rider in its own right. It's far from my favourite by miles but it's also far from my least favorite. I generally enjoyed the character-driven direction it took, but the episodic-ness did make it hard to watch at times. It's just felt like a relationship you have been in for a while, but you make zero progress for a very long time. However, despite that, I still loved the series as a whole, especially Yuuto and everything surrounding him. He's probably my second to favourite secondary rider right after birth from OOOs.

Is it just me or does everybody else feel like that the main character is also the same name as the purple imagine or something? Ryutaro for the main character and Ryotoro maybe?

So the Zeronos form uses the memories that others have of Sakurai Yuuto. The original cards are for the older sakurai, the Zero cards are the younger Sakurai. That means that the original cards would erase old sakurai from the timeline to protect Hana. but the Zero cards erase younger Sakurai from the timeline. So that means that originally he sees his future being erased, but with the Zero cards he sees his own present being erased. It's also a powerup since it effectively erases Sakurai Yuuto twice, removing past sakurai's memories as well as the chance for future sakurai. Also the reason Kai was erased, is that the Imagin's timeline was finally erased. Hana didn't become Den-o because she's a woman, and Kamen rider does males for the title rider. Though, in theory she could be barred from it because she's from an erased timeline. Plat Form (ha ha, yeah, that was intentional play on words by them) The Den-o belts we've seen have other colors and uses. It's also four of the most common colors used for subway and train lines for connector images in train stations. As for why the armor comes with the four types already built in, that's just to look cohesive with the idea of switching train lines without fully changing the train. It's small nods to the japanese train system. There is no explanation for why Wing Form is it's own thing. They just needed a secondary belt that could be used in conjunction with the Gaoh Belt. (they both come with a dual button system in the toys, it's intentional) Some have argued that it's because he's supposed to be like the Premium trains that sometimes run in Japan. Which are completely different from the regular bullet trains. Also, what, does Teddy not count? everyone loves Teddy. he's a super OP imagin hindered by his contractual obligations.

I love this review I can’t wait for the rider potential version of this.

My problem with Den-O is that Ryotaro (I’m almost certain I spelled that wrong) more or less leaves the show the way he enters it. They could have used Liner form to show how he’s actually become a competent fighter throughout the season, maybe by replicating the fighting styles of the Taros, but instead even when he has that form he still bumbles his way through fights and Momotaros ends up beating the final boss instead of him. Towards the end they wanted to push this whole “we’re a team so you shouldn’t do it yourself” message but instead it ended up coming across as “you’re too weak to do it yourself”, at least to me anyway.

If I could describe the Imagins' bond with Ryoutarou, then I could say that they are like his Pokemon with how close they are with him and that's just the vibe that I get lmao and also, this was a fantastic review of a great show within Den-O dude and I really enjoy your videos of Ultraman and Kamen Rider both as i've watched your content for quite some time now 7 lastly, this is how I would rank the 5 KR shows that i've watched so far atm personally: 1. A theory i have for the rider system is that the crew from the den liner has been around in the future which is how they see the den-o imagine with sieg being a surprise who isn’t seen a lot more in the future which is why he isn’t on the normal belt, and all of the is able to happen because of riotaro and that one girl are singularity points

In regards to the rider system bits, it *could* be a situation of time loop/prophesized/destined user. Only ryotaro can use the den-o system, and it's designed in that way because it was destined for him to be possessed by the 4 imagin. Cause ryotaro himself probably never would have gotten possessed by even momotaros if he never picked up the pass, which was only dropped there because of hana. And hana herself can only come into existance via the actions of ryotaro/yutto. So while the show doesn't touch on it, it could very well be a self-fufiling prophecy type thing.

so, and I maybe wrong on this, but the armor seems to just be the same four parts in different positions. like, the red part is for Sword Form, but because it's just using the same pieces just re-arranged, you can see hints of other forms (like Axe Form). many other forms show evidence of this, so i though that was intentional. just my two cents!

I think Sieg isn't really a normal Imagin, I mean he shrunk the Taros and Deneb, maybe his unique situation and somewhat more powerful abilities allows for a complete overhaul of the system.

The first Kamen Rider series is Den-O, I really hate in first episode but now I love it when I continue the series (And its my 2nd Fave series). Fun Fact: I was born before the air of Episode 40 of Den-O and yet that is my favorite episode

Possibly that Rider System on Den-O was a prototype version and New Den-O belt system is actually the finished product and fix some major flaws from the form. So why they use the prototype belt in the fight, that’s doesn’t make sense? It kindda make sense.. you see, Time Line is basically messed up by Imagins… and inorder to protect the timeline, they need someone to fight.. a Zeronos cant do it alone. So they rushed the Production of Den-O system… and finished the prototype… and hence it’s a Prototype, it is untested… so we can say that Ryotaro another Bad Luck being a Den-O with his prototypes… then how Imagin comes into play here? Maybe, it is intentional… but no one knows about it. As we don’t know who create that belt… If the whole point of Prototype is not convinced… Maybe Ryotaro creates that belt and makes it to himself and his Imagins…. Dont forget that Kotaro is Ryotaro’s Grandson.. and he is Den-O as well… which is coincidence because he is a Singular point? IDK… but again Hana can use Rider systems as well… but maybe she is not confident enough to use it. And it makes sense as Hana cant use Den-O Belt due to Future Ryotaro said that this belt must be in Ryotaro’s Hand inorder to keep the timeline of Nogami’s memories… but hey it just my theory…

About the whole buttons thing, I think that's exactly how it works. People say stuff about the uhhh, fighting spirit or wahtever. I just personally think that the buttons color code them. So when he transforms, the form follows that coloring. Maybe it's fate? Probably. Knowing all this TIme Travel shit, it was probably MADE for Routaro... For the most part... Which would explain it. oH AND... I fully disagree with your Imagin list... Can't believe Urataros is #1. But it's your opinion, and I respect it :)

Okay, nobody asked for an older Black lady to review your review but too bad, here I am. You missed the forest for the trees. Den-o is a fun series that is about characters trying to protect the fun community they have created. Imajins didn't have to be comical but the main imajins are part of a social community (with the coolest clubhouse ever -- a train traveling through time!) so they indeed have a safe space to let their hair down. As you pointed out, one of the main themes is the grappling of the concept of what memories are (thankfully, not like the "memories" of W.) I think Den-o was destined to be bittersweet and quirky fun with the theme of connecting our actual human existence to how we are perceived in the memories of others. This theme is viscerally present long before it is "revealed' near the end of the season. That theme is so profoundly touching that it raises the Human /Morality bar for all KamenRiders, in my opinion. I appreciate your take on Den-o despite your being slightly underwhelmed by it. I put Den-o in my top 3 Kamen Rider series. And the opening song is also in my top 3 opening theme songs. (But Kiva's theme song AND overall sequence is reeeeally hard to beat, so it's a no lo contender.) Thanks for also refraining from having Big Kool-Aid in this review. Thanks.

Well, the armor is transformable. So it isn't that it has elements of Axe Form. It's just that Axe Form has those elements when the armor is configured for him. There's even a toy where you can switch through all his forms. OR it's just timey wimey retroactive reasons, because time travel.

so there was a line about why they destroy the past and not the present and thats that the bad Imajine fed off of or can only live in "stolen time" if they go back and change time that disrupts time enough that they can live in the busted time. Their present (our future) is messed up enough that going back in their own timeline wont change enough, or so their told. Thus they come to 2007. The process was, as I understood it, if you destroy the building in the past all of the things that happened in that building go too, the time, the events, maybe someone got engaged in that building, or died there. this way you twist the train tracks and make a place for the Imajine to live.....I think. The buildings and time return because Ryota, as a Singular Point, can't really have his timeline changed. So since he exists, places and events around him will still play out as they should if there's no Imajine to interfere.

In all honestly, I'm willing to give Den-O a shot to binge watch (given the time) for the sake of a train fanatic.

17:00 You do realize that it was from 2007 and why the gimmicks had limited features and didn't have multiple toy weapons? Electronic collectibles weren't a thing until the 2010's and the rider system and weapons works just how the show featured it to be and it makes sense and helps to know the gimmicks lore unlike nowadays where we already know how the rider system works before it releases. Seig didn't reformat the rider system or the rider, it was still the same as other den-o forms except for new armor attachments and recolor, only the belt's front plate is different and doesn't have those four buttons( if you've seen the latest csm den-o driver you'll get it). And you still had to compare it with Zi-O that came after 11 years.
