imagine if the debut of the newer groups or soloist is an actual live performance and not a pre recorded one. For sure, they would sound nervous and cracking too.

This is how I sounded when I first started singing in my choir. She has potential. She just wasn't ready. They should have given her more training. But, people should not have bashed her to the point of her giving it all up. A little encouragement would have been nice.

I think she definitely had singing talent, especially knowing she was only 14 here. She just needed to continue practicing and shake off that initial first stage jitters. I see people comment that IU was 15 when she debuted and they think she did a better job, but even IU's debut performance was not perfect. In my opinion, what honestly made Ori's debut performance look bad was: 1) She wasn't used to holding the mic at a proper distance while changing notes and volume, which made her voice sound inconsistent (but again, this can easily be fixed with practice, which it seems her company didn't really give her a lot of before debuting) 2) Her body language didn't match her song. She did a great job smiling/looking cheerful since she sang a peppy/cute-sounding song, but she should have had somewhat of a choreography to match the vibe. I'm not saying she needed to do a full-on intricate choreo, but she rarely moved. She just took some steps left and right and mostly stood in place like a frozen popsicle. If her debut song would have been a ballad, then it would make sense not to dance because it's more of a serious vibe. 3) The backup dancers looked like robots adding to the awkward vibe on stage. Again from point #2, if the body language (including facial expressions) don't match the song it's connected to, the performance won't look as good as it can be. This song sounds upbeat and cheerful, so the backup dancers should have at least smiled more, and because they mostly looked serious/almost expressionless, it came off as if they didn't want to be there and were just getting the performance done and over with. Additionally, they didn't really dance with much energy/enthusiasm to match the peppy vibe, making it look half-assed. I do feel bad for this girl because she had a nice voice, but it really seems like her company debuted her prematurely (meaning she still needed practice before officially debuting, not her age). But, people were so quick to squash her down to the point of making her give up her dream to be an artist. It's hard to take in everything she went through at a young age and it doesn't seem like she had much of a support group in her company either. I hope she's doing better now.
