Todd Rundgren is one of their major influences; The Twigs have been known to cover a couple of his songs. Todd joined them on stage at Coachella and in Pomona, CA to perform “Couldn’t I Just Tell You”; you can find the videos on KZfaq.

Great stuff. Their records completely fail to capture the energy of their live performances. Hopefully the new album will get the production it deserves.
@redadamearth
@redadamearth 2 жыл бұрын
Agreed - I discovered them through live videos/performances and when I heard the albums, I was shocked at how THIN the mixes, arrangements, vocal placement and production were on those first two records. "Songs for the General Public" definitely is an IMPROVEMENT in production, no doubt - hopefully they'll get to work with someone who will bring out the magic they have in these performances on record. These guys are the most talented rock songwriters to come around in years, so really hoping they keep trying to get the bigness of that sound on records, while holding onto the space required to make their songs breathe.
@redadamearth
@redadamearth 6 ай бұрын
They record their albums, themselves - and yeah, the earlier records sound incredibly thin, with some pretty bad arrangements and mixes. The SONGS are always brilliant - and at the time, I was saying they should work with a producer/engineer who can bring out the power in their songs, but their last two albums have sounded better. Still not where it *should* be, but they seem to be getting better in the studio.

We are in the 2019 and you're too steriotiped and there's not reason why you have not to look like nowday's guys. However this song sounds good enough for my ears.

And at last it doesn't matter if you don't understand what I mean ... it doesn't change the way I think... they look like something already seen... and for me tere's not reason why they are dressed like this... I'm unable to understand why... guys from 2019 have to look like guys from 70... that's terrible stupid... it means they try to be something they are not... in fact they are nothing... no sense... music don't need their contribute... bye... and try to be guys from your time.

Completely in Agreement! I’d have thought it was obvious until I read most of these comments. I’m probably going to get some flax for my comments saying how incredibly Unoriginal they are in sound and style and clearly they’re wannabes of 70’s pop icons.
@antoninocrea5755
@antoninocrea5755 5 жыл бұрын
Anyone can express himself in the way he likes, however it doesn't mean nothing. The are unoriginal and the musical way they ride, even if they sound good, smells like something already earded, and if I have to be honest, the original ones from 70ties are better. For me they're nothing new or intresting, good musicians,,that's true, but talent is elsewhere.
@nathanedward7077
@nathanedward7077 5 жыл бұрын
Unimpressed. To say The least. Nearly wannabes. Vain 70’s euro-pop wannabes concerned with image and aesthetic over originality and creativity. They literally sound as though they have taken inspirations, Elton John, billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, whoever (take your pick) and the likes of other 70’s pop or rock icons, and used them like Templates for their own songs & sound. Not even remotely original. I’m sound and in style. Two thumbs Down!
