The 2021 Lexus IS 350 F Sport is a bit of a confusing proposition in the sports sedan segment. Compared to the usual suspects: the BMW 330, the Mercedes Benz C class, and the Audi A4, it doesn't fare well. Things get worse when you look at it next to upstarts like the Genesis G70 and Cadillac CT4. But there's something appealing about it that I can't quite put my finger on, and I think I like it more than the Acura TLX even if that car is more modern in many ways. I'm curious to know your thoughts. Let me know in the comments what you think and if you'd consider the Lexus IS 350 over the competition.

Well.... I've had this as a loaner for about 3 days and like ALL Lexusss, you NEED to drive it for more than 10 minutes to really appreciate it and let it wrap you in its arms. Yes, it's dated, and it's pretty clear Lexus don't pay much attention to a model that is barely sold and will disappear soon to get an electric variant, but I found that it's the case of pretty much all Lexus sedans... You're right about the GV70. I would lease one for sure. This I would buy and keep.

Yup, this will be an absolutely excellent used car purchase in a few years for those in the know. It's a miss in a number of ways, but if you want a stylish and reliable luxury car that you can subtly improve, this would be a great starting point.

You can’t never compare the Lexus to BMW, Genesis. Or any other car those car are gonna be in the junkyard, by the time I replace my alternator.

You're not wrong (although Hyundai/Kia/Genesis's latest reliability ratings are impressive), but I think in this field you're seeing a lot more people who lease vehicles and would be less concerned with long term reliability. Being very middle class, I have a hard time not taking a vehicle's long term reliability into consideration, but the reality is that a lot of people want to lease badges rather than buy quality.... which is stupid. Preach it!! As an IS500 LE owner, I totally get your feelings about this car. On paper and in your pocket, it makes zero sense…However, this is a purely emotional car. It has a sense of character and nostalgia. The V8 model just puts a huge cherry on top with that amazing engine sound! Hands down one of the best visually looking cars in person, as pictures do not do this body style any justice. I’ve owned a ton of sports cars and other vehicles, but this one just has a different feeling to it all together. Keep the great reviews coming and if you ever want to do a review on a 500 model, just let me know!

Jax another great video. Probably the most objective review I’ve seen on the IS. I gotta agree with you on the interior. It's as dated as a 50 yr old sporting a mullet, geometric pattern shirt and acid wash jeans. However the exterior looks great. Hey if Lexus sent me the IS F I’d only say good things about it as well. 🤣🤣🤣. Great job Man. Looking forward to your driving impressions.

Haha! Your analysis of the interior is correct. I get the cost savings, but Lexus also makes the beautiful and unique LC interiors using somewhat outdated tech, so I can't really fully forgive them for the IS. It's a better car than it appears on paper for sure, but sadly, I think most buyers will skip this for tht Germans or the value rocket G70. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

The motor and transmission in this car is quite beatable. I have a '16 IS350 and in Sport S+ and Manual mode, it is a beast. If it's kept in the 4000 RPM and higher range, a crap-ton of turbo drivers will be caught with their pants down. Sure my gas mileage is in single digits, but I love the sound it makes and it is the ultimate sleeper. (While propelling me in style and comfort.) ;-)

I agree it is a sleeper ish because most people think ohh it’s just a Lexus it is quicker then most cars u see on the road but not near the competition like the AMG, RS, M series and others

With the used market the way it is (still...deep into 2023) you're better off trying to get a deal on a new one tbh. You're still looking at mid to high $40k's with a 2 year old car with 40k+ miles on the clock.

Just got a 2023 which made no sense! I test drove many vehicles comparable on price and they just came with so much more features and were much quicker. Regardless, I just freaking loved the looks of the 350 F sport. The interior was still nice.

I can't say for sure because I have yet to test the new TLX, but I like the way this looks more. And it has a light bar. And it's RWD. And it has a light bar. 😉

I've owned a 2005 (FWD) and 2014 Acura TL (AWD), and liked them both. I was in the market for a 2024 TLX Type S, but could not find one locally. I wanted a 2024 because it didn't have the plate over the logo on the front grill. Giving up on Acura, I looked at other automakers and discovered the IS 350 F Sport. I really liked its looks, its lines, and its mix of old & new in the interior. I didn't like the button transmission of the TLX, but I could've lived with that, but TLX Type S were not available. I went with the Lexus and do not regret it. I like its smaller size and the features I just mentioned.

@@MasterPo-gf1ci Great choice again I like Lexus just too small inside for me, & yeah the TLX Type S was here in Jersey but it wasn't the color I wanted so at the time I had to go 2 hours out to Valley Stream NY to get the color I wanted so yeah they were scarce

Germany makes the best firearms, but at the end of the day Japan Toyota (LexusIS350F) makes a far better vehicle. There's more than enough performance, incredible design, fun to drive, & the IS350 F's resale value is far stronger than really any car in its class.

While the unreliable competitors sit in shops waiting to be fixed, the IS thunders on and on because of its quality. The car may be considered dated, but it has been vetted. All the bugs, which were few from the start, have been eliminated over the years. Do you want to drive a car or watch TV. The technology belongs on the phone. Use those function from there. Lexus cars are also a less expensive investment from the start.

I think that's true to a certain extent, but there's unfortunately a big difference sometimes between what enthusiasts want and what actually sells. People like bells and whistles, giant screens, and gadgets and gizmos. Doesn't make it right, but it's how it goes...

The so called internet "journalists" may underrate the IS 350, but customers don't listen to them. They don't buy and maintain these cars. Customers buy the IS 350s and they love them. They look great, they're fun, and they run forever.

Now that Lexus finally fitted a touchscreen in this thing, I have zero issues with the interior. The G70 is great, but the styling (both inside and out) seems to be trying too hard..not as classy as the IS 350. BMW interiors are solid and functional, but nothing special really The Caddy is fine has good infotainment, but also has an air of GM cheapness to it even with the eclusive to Caddy bits. Out of all the competition I think the updated IS is now the best looking inside and out..if the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio isnt really competition. Some will say Lexus hasnt done enough, I'd say they've done just enough to keep them at the top of my list if I were looking for a $50k+ sports sedan. Sadly thats a little above my budget at the moment, but some day..

The infotainment certainly helps, but the overall interior design is basically unchanged from the previous gen. While I love the styling and the IS 500 is undeniably cool, I’d probably lean towards a TLX Type S if I wanted a mid-level lux sedan that wouldn’t be as unreliable as the German options. The Type S is a ton of fun at 7/10ths 😎

RR racing supercharger can give it 420+ hp. Of course, this car is bullet proof if u just leave it stock. I can’t find any specific engineering specs about the AWD system it uses. And why no torsen rear diff on the AWD models? BMW etc. suck bc u need to spend $100k on maintenance on a $60k BMW that breaks down on your way home from the dealer and starts leaking oil and coolant in your driveway after the first week of ownership.

I have a 2022 is350 f sport AWD from 0-60 I got 4.9 seconds, second run I got 5.2 seconds couple of runs I still got 5.2 seconds.

You’re right, but I’m not sure many brands are worried if people can wrench on their cars. The integration of electronics has gotten far too complicated
