Its like Rengoku united them for the demon eradicating cause. Even in heaven Rengoku still protects them. i.e. when his sword hilt defended Kotetsu from a vital attack. Mitsuri and Tanjiro teaming up against UD 4.

kyojuro and mitsuri's master-student relationship is really wholesome, it didnt felt like mitsuri was a student at all, but the 3, kyojuro mitsuri and senjuro felt like siblings training flame breathing
