Before someone rushes to the comments: Bank isn't shutting down in April! But with the 3DS and WiiU online closing for everything else in April, it does raise a big question on Bank's and Transporter's futures, which is why I wanted to talk about this in a video. I hope enjoy the thoughts I had to share! I'm sure I'm not alone in reflecting on this. I apologize if the audio quality is a bit off on this one, there was a lot of background noise I tried to filter out but it left some audio artifacts. And this was the *second* recording, I had a first recording that was worse. ^^;

The reason why you can't transfer pokemon back when you put them in gen 7 is because the IDs got longer in gen 7 so they wouldn't be the same if you could transfer them back to gen 6.

If anyone wants an alternative to Pokemon Bank to put stuff like their living dexes into, PKSM has the ability to do just that, and also lets you move Pokemon from gens 4-7 to any game they can be transferred to, and back. I highly recommend installing it if you have a system with Custom Firmware, as if/when Bank shutdown it'll be the only way to move Pokemon from the VC releases of gens 1-2, to the entirety of gens 4-7.

I found it strange that Pokémon Transporter wasn’t compatible with Gen 4 directly since they were DS games like Gen 5. It would definitely save people money from buying the Gen 5 games secondhand, especially Black and White 2.

If bank shuts down then I’m modding my 3DS or never playing a Pokémon game ever again

Honestly for a lot of us the 4 or so months we didn’t have Pokemon Bank during X and Y was so much more fun than when it finallly came out. Hacking was basically nonexistent at that point and pretty much everything you got from wondertrade was legit. Breeding projects felt worthwhile.

I really wish they'd just make this an off-line application That could connect locally to the switch.

This year I've started frantically working on my ribbon master, hoping that Bank stays up just long enough for me to do it with original hardware.

Something I want to mention is that any Pokemon you put in to Bank will have their dex entries and Pokemon themselves registered to Home even if you didn't put said Pokemon in to Home. I had a Victini transferred from Gen 5 to Gen 6 and when I went in to the national dex on Home, Victini's dex entry was there even though I left my Victini in XY. So this means our Bank's National Dex are connected with Home's National Dex.

That 3DS better be charged

2 things I’m hoping 1- We will at least have until the end of the year to use bank I think that should be just enough time to complete everything I want (doubt it though) 2- I do think there will be a solution, not one as optimized as a full Gen to Gen transfer, but they know their most loyal fans, like you and me who have multiple systems and games to trade amongst ourselves, are the ones who have memories of these games and our teams and experiences over time. I hope they know how much our living dex and teams mean to us and respect the time we dedicated to this series and it’s a new solution. Hoping Pokémon day might address this so we know how much longer we have

I still use poke transporter and poke bank. It forced to pay 5.99 for my 3-month membership before both went free a few months later ;((

The Nintendo switch was my first own console. I would like to play gens 1 to 3 in switch. They can do it. I hope the pokemon company announce something good in Pokemon Day. Great video :)

I'm rushing through Ultra Moon to start hunting wormhole legendaries. The days remaining on Bank says something like "?21" and I'm WORRIED lol. It's going to be insanely frustrating for those times I get big time into playing pokemon again and losing the ability to move them forward. At this point I've lost all hope for them to do anything good.

I never got the chance to use Pokémon Bank and poketransporter. I currently have a shiny metapod in my copy of Heart Gold which I'd like to move to the newer generations, however poketransporter doesn't seem to work. Maybe I need an SD for my DSi. The idea these 2 softwares are going to shut down saddens me, even if I did not use them, but also makes me think of all the other things such as limited time events, that I missed because I didn't even know they existed.

It really sucks cause i just got back into pokemon, and all the mons i fell in love with in highschool wont be able to be used specifically because of nintendo is very greedy and refuse to offer a solution. I never had pokemon Bank, so yeah, it sucks. Especially when we can connect our DS to our switch so why not try to do something with that

The end of Bank might just be the end of my fandom. I am working on a RetroDex in BW2 and i am content if i cant transfer them up cause the pokemon arent viable past gen 5 anyway. More people ok the PokeClassic Network would bd great just leave the modern games behind.

Glad you helped clear up that Poke Transporter & Bank will still be around for a little bit. I have most of the older games but there are so many and how busy life is, it's just impossible to get enough time to get all the mons transferred in time (It's a full time job!). I managed to buy Crystal on VC before it shutdown last year but I also wanted a copy of Silver too. I couldn't get around to it in time. I have a feeling come Pokemon Day next week they will announce the OG titles for the Online Shop for the Switch. But what about if you already bought it in VC? Will you have to purchase the same copies again? Also I always wondered if you sent Pokemon that evolved by trading through Bank will that make them evolve once they reach the newer games? In some of the older games I have shiny Entei, Raikou & Suicune from an event. I also managed to finally get Celebi from the Virtual Console Crystal Version. I want to get them moved to Home eventually but I still have much to do in the newer Gen games too. I can't remember what game the shiny beasts were even in. I also have Ruby & Sapphire the original GBA cartridges but I don't have a way to play them. I'm trying to find DS consoles that are not programmed in Japanese. Also the internal batteries for both games are dried out. I wonder if Nintendo will still fix this issue? It's just soooo much to keep track of and it gets more and more perplexing as each generation passes. I still haven't even gotten around to play Legends Arceus yet. Got the game sitting on my shelf still freshly wrapped in plastic as if I bought if yesterday and it's been over a year since purchase. All the consoles and services you need to complete all these things add up and is costly in the age of modern day inflation.

Pokémon Bank period was cool then Pokémon Home happened

Realistically if there is a Homebrew version of Poke Transporter made it will probably work 10x better than the actual official poke transporter app amd have features like picking individual Pokémon or sending more than a single box

My biggest hope is on Pokemon Day in a couple weeks, TPCi reveals a new device that will replace Pokemon Home. Ideally, it would accept DS and 3DS cartridges, and it would be able to connect to the wifi on its own to effectively replace Pokemon Bank. My second biggest hope is TPCi just keeps running Bank/Transporter for as long as they can. If Nintendo can keep the Wii Shop up all these years (for redownloads), I hope they would be able to do the same for Bank/Transporter. Unfortunately, I'm expecting them to announce an EoS for Pokemon Bank/Transporter, maybe sometime next year. Maybe they add the GB and GBA games to NSO, but we are still missing Gen 4 through 7 games. Overall, not looking forward to the end of these two apps if that ever comes since that is going to cause a huge cutoff of old Pokemon. 11:19 "Originally, before Pokemon Crystal had come out, no Celebi could pass through." I'm pretty sure any Celebi could pass through, that's how I got one into my Living Dex for Gen 6. It's just that any *shiny* Celebi couldn't pass through because there was no way to get one in Gen 3-7.

Regarding checks for legal transfers: You can actually transfer the unreleased Darkrai and Arceus caught through glitches/cheats from Diamond (and only Diamond, as the original events that gave them away had Trainer IDs from Diamond, so Pearl will not work) through Poké Transporter, with a few extra steps: BEFORE REACHING GEN 5, Darkrai must be at least Level 50 (as it was that level in Platinum) and not know moves it only learned in DP, and Arceus must be Level 100 and cannot be shiny.

If they do end up disconnecting the pokebank service, we all better email spam the hell outta gamefreak or Nintendo politely to keep it on. I know it’s a long shot but it’s better than nothing. I haven’t ad time to do my ribbon quest on Pokémon

Weird I did transfer my diamond Spear Pillar Arceus all the way to Scarlet, it says join me from the sinnoh region and is in a master ball.

I don't see why as long as some Pokemon online service exists that all older versions of that service can't continue to run. No matter what, they have to pay to keep servers on

I want to replay my old 3DS games fresh soon but I'm not sure I will be able to move my mons out since I only recently made a Pokebank account despite playing every Gen since childhood. If anyone knows if its doable pls let me know. Otherwise, I don't stress to much over it since we have a well established cycle of remakes and we could even see remasterings like how Skyrim went to Switch despite being a 2011 game.

Asking this here cause it seems like the place people might know. Is there any way AT ALL to move pokemon from the Switch/Gen 8 back onto the 3DS? Moving my collection from the 3DS onto switch was the worst mistake I ever made. Gen 8 was enough to make me drop the series entirely and I'd give anything to be able to move everything back.

If you're willing to mod your 3DS you can install PKSM which is basically a local Pokemon Bank/Poke Transporter for Generation 1 to 7. Unlike Pokemon Bank, it supports two-way cross gen transfer provided that the Pokemon, its abilities and moves are legal/exists for the generation it's going to. Admittedly, it's also a save editor which makes cheating in these games piss easy, but for the "Pokemon Bank-like" features that it provides I wouldn't mind looking over those dubious aspects of the tool.

Legit my hope lies in the hands of our insane community! I really hope they make an on-/offline alternative for CFW so we can still move around our Pokémon

Ah, the Pokémon Bank Celebi...I love it so much and still have it with me to this day, retaining its special event move: Hold Back. Before the Virtual Console Crystal Celebi was made available, the Bank Celebi was the only one at that point you could give a name to as it had your OT. The announcement of Bank's eventual closure was a huge wake-up call for me - since the announcement, I've been revisiting my old Pokémon games like LeafGreen and Platinum, completing any postgame activities I wanted to get done so I feel completely comfortable with transferring all the Pokémon from those games up to HOME where they're preserved for future generations to come. I knew the day was gonna come, but it's still really sad all the same. I'm gonna miss Brigette greeting me and gifting me stuff...they should bring her back in a future mainline game, spinoff or transfer app. If Pokémon Burnet, a character from a Generation 5 spinoff game, can appear in Alola, I don't see why Brigette can't be brought back in a similar way.

Let’s be real for a second, you probably would still be able to transfer Pokemon through those means, just skipping generations and all that, just through different softwares that are out there on the internet that you can download on your windows computer (Given they’re not viruses), and still be able to transfer Pokemon from gens 1 - 7. People are modding their 3DS’s to make that stuff happen anyways, and it’s like, you can transfer your Pokemon to Gen 9 games sure, but the issue is that the services they provide just let them sit there, and if you miss just ONE payment, you would have to restart your Pokemon journey ALL OVER AGAIN! I’m not upset over the fact that Nintendo and Game freak want to stop this shit, but at the same time, stop taking the shit away from us, otherwise, if we have to pirate shit that’s leagues better than what we got currently, then we’ll use those instead. I deadass would be okay with physically and digitally modding my 3DS until it meets my specifications, and having multiple 3DS’s on top of that, and if I get a switch again in the near future, then shit, at that point I got the money. But what I’ll always say is just, if it does end up happening, and you’re like me where you didn’t get those in the past, there’s always an alternative, don’t freak out.

a wonderful wish for pokemon day which is coming up would be to give us gens 1 to 3 on the nso service which would solve some things for the older gens, plus allow us to truly take advantage of the pokemon stadium games as rental pokemon just arent the same and the originals that you worked with or glitched in lol, another thing is they so need a gen 5 remake now at this point as we got a gen 4 remake both past and present in a way, and it will suck that gens 6 and 7 are stuck still to the 3ds but im sure that once the next console comes those games will hopefully get remakes along side a possible gen 10 set of games, anyone else remember once upon a time where the goal was gotta catch em all and now with no national dex in the games you honestly just go for the core pokedex in game and forget about the now 1025 or 1026 total pokemon that are out there

Good thing I modded my 3DS to get Pokémon Red on virtual console, I couldnt buy it cause problems with my credit card... And I only did so cause I wanted to do the Shiny Mew glitch to transfer it to Violet (Austin john plays made a great video about it btw). I just want something like a "Pokémon Classic Collection" with HOME compatibility so we can transfer Pokémon from older games to current gens in a easier way istead of doing all kinds of janky stuff just to transfer 1 Pokémon from Ruby to Scarlet for example.
