After the terrible war, Beckenbauer and his cosmopolitan and very polite attitude to life showed the world that we Germans can also be normal people. He has done so much for us. RIP dear Franz!

Rest in eternal peace. One of the greatest footballers ever, in the category of Pele, Maradona etc. Today's defenders are all power and muscle. Beckenbaur was full of skill and guile. So smooth. Moving from defence to opposition penalty area like a Rolls Royce. Amazing

Only 66 he was midfielder, in Mexico he was already a defender, but mr. Robson probably can’t contemplate how on earth a defender could score a goal like he did against England.

Besides his football skills I dont think there are many people that have something bad to say about him as a person which is also a great achievement. The 2006 worldcup thing was just playing by the Fifa rules. YOu dont play by the Fifas rules and you wont host anything. No worldcup ever took place somewhere without some "bribes". He did what everybdoy did and its in no comparison to whats going on nowadays with katar and so on. In Germany the media actually always brings it up and thats quite sad.

Why is Stuart Robson speaking as though he was there at the time. He was born in November 1964 and was 9 years old when Germany won the World Cup in 74. He wouldn't had had the football maturity to demonstrate expertise. You would had had to have been at least 70 years old to really experience those Beckenbauer moments from the 60s and 70s.

Der Franz was the poster boy of German football, first West, the reunified. He never said anything that could offend anybody and focused exclusively on football, which suited a nation intent on materialistic gains and industry. Compared to Cruyff he had little personality and no political opinions

• I'm not disrespecting Beckenbauer when I type this, but Germany was given the world cup in 1990, as if it were a Christmas gift. Andreas Brehme dived to the ground looking for that penalty call. Gabriel Calderón gets tripped and the ref doesn't consider that a foul? If Canigga did not get that yellow card versus Italy we would've been back to back champs. Then again, FIFA could not afford the Sky blue & white to win because Italians would have rioted no doubt. It is all good though we got that long awaited 3rd cup on December 18, 2022.

Serial poster of rubbish. I'll repost my reply from your garbage post in another thread: Rubbish. Argentina disgraced football during that tournament with their cynical fouling; should have been red cards galore but they goaded the refs to make the hard decisions and the refs shamefully backed off. It caught up with them in the final. Didn't even muster a serious challenge on germanys goal. Also, it was Völler who was tackled to the ground . Brehme took the penalty. No credibility.

Nice argentinian conspiracy theory you have there. No way Argentina deserved that title. It was a joke that this Kung-Fu Team even made It to the final. Germany was well deserved Champion

It was Voeller who was fouled in the box by Sensini at the 84th min. Brehme took the spotkick. Are you sure you watched the 1990 world cup final or you are dreaming?
@honda900000
@honda900000 4 ай бұрын
Germany was by far better in the final. Argentina had no chance. They didnt even had one goal chance. Not one. Without Goycochea Argentina would fly home in the quarter finals because they didnt even try to play football. Just martiral arts skills and Goycochea. Thats why Argentina arrived the final. They had no chance to back to back champs. Germany didnt get a penalty in the 59 min after a clear foul against Augenthaler. Even before the red cards Germany should be in front at least with one goal. Without any doubt, the final in 1990 has seen a well desevered winner. So Argentina can dream on about 1990. The rest of the world knows better.

in your dreams. Also what kind of a despicable person must someone be to write something like this on a legacy video. That really tells everybody everything they need to know about you. You know what the most important thing is? People valued HIS opinion because of the great things he did. He changed football forever. And won everything there is. Won the Championsleague three times in a row. Won the World cup as player and coach won the european masters. MORE important. He did. OP didnt. He has two ballon dors..how many do you have? Overrated...smh. You just dont know what he actually won. And how much he changed the sport. Because unlike messi or ronaldo who are great PLAYERS. He wasnt just a player he CHANGED how people played. Inventing the box to box player.

He won more European/UCL Cup titles in 3 years than the entire history at Chelsea. Plus he is a great coach. To win the world cup in 1990 at Italy, against Holland, England and Argentina at the KO stages, shows how good he was as a coach.
