Dear Ms. Harrison, I love your video! I am twelve years old and am in sixth grade. I am a writer too. You inspire me to pursue a career as a writer when I graduate college one day. I struggle with dyslexia, but I believe that my passion for literature will help me overcome this obstacle. Thank you for being such a great role model.

Hi Samantha, what a great message to read - and how exciting to read about your writing ambitions. I wish you the very best of luck - the brilliant thing about writing is you can start right now, and I know many extremely talented writers with dyslexia who have achieved wonderful things. Take care and keep writing! Kate xx

Ever since I was a little girl I've been writing stories. I've been working on my book for awhile and I feel like I'm almost at a point to start querying to agents. Thank you for being an inspiration :)

Dear Ms. Harrison I like how you express yourself throughout the video. I am 21 years old and I write as well. With what you have said about getting lost thinking that you can't do what you have already written again, I do feel like that. Thank you for allowing me to know it's okay.

It's nice to see that someone is doing well in the career that I'm looking forward to start in. regardless on what type of genre or story they are writing, it's good to see how they push through every single challenge even though they have the ultimate creative freedom. pleasure to watch such a motivated video :)

I like your comment, 'It'll get you to a novel sooner or later,' regarding how many words you can manage to write in a day. Sometimes, I can only manage a few hundred a day due to work.

Thank you for producing this video, very wonderful and uplifting piece. Gives perspective and help into a writing life and makes it seem More doable and human. Also shows how it’s not a mysterious or magical process or a snobby ivory tower. It’s just people doing work. It’s easier if you approach writing as simply work.

It's an an early fifties manual Olympia SM-3 the same one Woody Allen has written all his scripts on to date. It's really a studio prop we use but it works perfectly and is quite small and portable. Tom Hanks also still replies to all his fans on a type writer.

Don't forget that's just the first draft! Every book you see is re-written multiple times, then goes through several rounds of editing. The publishing process alone can take a year.

It is actually just Word. She just uses the correction thingy that makes those weird marks on the side. All the teachers at my school uses it when we deliver assignments. However she have turned the marks to the left side, witch i have never seen before.

Thanks for sharing wonderful video. You are born to write; Kate Harrison, A Pen Life Born to write not an easy life But I am must try. Day and night, every time I write, My pen crosses the paper, I find a new word. Born to write; sometimes a tear drops from my eyes, While I write. And then each word written, I begin to cry. Born to write; that which is my life from the beginning. I start to think and begin a new thought. Then I try to write at anytime, anywhere, about anything. There’s no limit, Until the time I quit to submit my writing. Born to write I try to get the words down. The more I write, the prouder I become; But at other times I can’t find the word. Stop there, I am to try again. Charlotte, North Carolina Fall 1997 Louielamson2000

Haha, the journalist part sounds just like me. I have studied three years of journalism, but I found that writhing about real life from an objective point of view is very little rewarding. However Im starting at a writhing academy in Norway this fall, so hoping that will be better.
