Before every wc/euros start, they always make the call, that they are gonna win and they always shit the bed at some point, eventho you have really good players (United Generation of the 90s for example or 2010 was a good team aswell around Lampart, Stevie, ...) They broke the penalty curse and brought a very fractured nation togather. They came home as heroes having restored national faith in the team. As someone in my mud 20s I have only every known the bitter taste of defeat as shootout after shootout went against us. When dier scored it wad like all that misery was gone at last. We could finally dare to dream.
