Haha. For sure! That was the directors primary directions to all actors: don't hold back. A great scene. Thank you for watching!

Timothy Dalton's sly sass to Peter O'Toole's bombast! Such a great match up!

Every single actor in this film is exquisite but Peter O'Toole is operating on another astral plane. Utter delight. Magnificent.

Simply one of the greatest films ever made. Perfect screenplay, beyond perfect cast.

Was there ever a man more gorgeous than Timothy Dalton?

When made up to be gorgeous. Other actors were equally so - O’Toole in His early films, for an obvious start.

Love the flick and the clip. But a bit of volume leveling on the outro would not go amiss.

@@filmstudiesqtlyreview Y'all never made the correction, the fucking trumpet blaring out of nowhere at roughly 5 times the volume of the dialogue, even the shouting, was incredibly jarring and unwelcome.

Henry is meeting King Philip. "King" Richard is only a prince in this and is Henry's son.

Starts well, but rapidly goes down hill: the main plot - the argument - just goes on and on and quickly cease to make sense. Then there are the endless scenes where it all comes to a head ... but doesn´t only to go on and on again. It would have been better if more of it were left on the cutting-room floor, especially the entire scene towards the end with Henry and Eleanor. Also, John´s gormless look wears thin after a few minutes and a Christmas tree 700 years too early! Not a very good film.

At least we didn't have to endure Richard Burton going through his repertoire of facial expressions ( from A to B ) accompanied by loud bellowing of his lines. ! His death scene in Becket is comedy gold. I can only assume the Director was too much in awe of him to do several retakes ?

Are you kidding it is one of the best movies, the acting is out of this world, the dialoque snappy and clever. Guess you don't get dysfunctional families.

Two points I agree with (anachronistic tree and Nigel Terry’s ridiculous interpretation of John). The rest is absolutely superb and certainly ‘makes sense’
