Yes, I grew up not watching Disney movies. It may be hard to believe, but that's the truth. I've only seen La Belle et la Bête (french version of The Beauty and the Beast), and Angels in the Outfield. That being said... I hope you're ready for my exploration of Disney animated movies!!! Fun fact, Jeremy Irons (Scar) threw his voice out singing the song Be Prepared. Jim Cummings best known for playing Winnie the Pooh, Tigger and Darkwing Duck was hired to come in and finish the song. After Scar yells the line, “YOU WON’T GET A SNIFF WITHOUT ME!” It switches from Jeremy Irons to Jim Cummings for the remainder of the song. The transition is pretty seamless and unless you know, you probably won’t hear the difference but it’s there.
@Progger11
@Progger11 8 ай бұрын
They don't record songs for films in a single take and linearly like that. If Irons threw his voice out, he could come back at a later time and finished. Or they could use earlier takes from before his voice went out.
@SJHFoto
@SJHFoto 8 ай бұрын
@@Progger11 If we threw his voice, he might not have wanted to come back to sing. Irons was more of an actor than a singer as I recall. It reminds me of the Doctor Dolittle movie. Rex Harrison refused to sing, and just said his lyrics to music (Note-I'm old, so I am referring to the 67 movie, not the new Eddie Murphy films (that are NOTHING like the books), or the newer film with Robert Downey Jr)
@LilithsLove89
@LilithsLove89 8 ай бұрын
@@Progger11 And yet a quick google search shows that’s not what happened. Jim Cummings did indeed sing the final verse as Scar. “Towards to the end of the song, Jeremy Irons, who provided the voice of Scar, said that after the part where he yells, "You won't get a sniff without me!", his voice gave out and he couldn't sing the rest of the song. Jim Cummings replaced Irons for the rest of the song.” -Disney Wiki

The Lion King is just a whole masterpiece Almost everything is perfect in the film the characters, the animation, the voice acting, the music fit perfectly well.... This movie was one of Disney's best animation at it's time And it's still is consider a classic To this day ... and that the animators did not have much faith in the film since they were inexperienced..and it turned out to be the opposite, this film has won millions of awards for best soundtrack film,and also as one of the best elaborated.. Elton John and Hans Zimmer were key to the soundtrack of this movie .... the simply perfect voice actors fit the characters very good... We have to thank the unforgettable Jeremy irons, voice of Scar, he literally got into the role of the villain. Scar is one of my favorite Disney villains...because almost all of his plan was calculated and the way they described his character is the perfect villain, I mean, he's bad but at the same time he has charisma and personality... And he knows how to manipulate people around him to get what he want ...Using reverse psychology even on his own nephew you realize what a mastermind he is In fact, you knew that Sazu's voice is Mr Bean himself, right? and Musfasa's voice is Darth Vader from Star wars...James Earl Jones... Totally fits Musfasa Character... Just magnificent... the animators did a great job with this movie that is not only a movie to entertain but also gives important life lessons.

I went to Disney World while they were working on this movie, and touring the animation studio there, they said their next film was an adaptaion of Hamelet ... and my friends and I looked at each other like "Really?!?!" Hard to picture at the time ... as you say, the changes they made to Shakespeare were probably for the best for a family movie. I'm sure diring development, ideas fly about, so hearing that Scar was suggested as being an unrelated lion, or that different animals were going to play different rolls doesn't surprise me.

The Lion King was one of my fav movies in my childhood, and always it makes a lump in my troat seeing to Simba trying to wake up to his father. It's a horrible fear losing a parent and imagining I can put myself in his place. Like Simba, I didn't expect his dad to die, I thought Scar would need one or 3 plans more to achieve but no :"( It gets me the heart of the movie is the love of father and son that Mufasa and Simba had.. Also the characters Mufasa (really he was a good dad), Simba (I'm amazed by all his path and history, and the death of Mufasa always break my heart, and after that, he lost his family and home, but he learned the past can hurt, but you can run from it or learn), Nala and Timon and Pumba (his loyal and support friends).. and Scar is the most hateful and cruel villain for me, that I never expected his plan to work, blame to Simba for the death of his father and banish him from his home, planning to kill him too and ruining the kingdom under his government. You should see the sequels soon

It would’ve been nice for Kiara to have a brother in the sequel. Lions do tend to have litters of two or three cubs, so it would’ve been interesting to see Kopa and how he would’ve fit into the story (also his relationship with Kiara, Simba, Kovu, etc) - not including the series.

Despite the song, lions more often live on plains than jungles and sleep among the rocks. A baby lion is called a 'cub' and no, he doesn't throw him. They do a really good job of making the animals look like the actors voicing them despite them being animals. Zazu is voiced by Rowan Atkinson, Shenzi (the female hyena) is voiced by Whoopi Goldberg. I have also seen the actor who voices Pumbaa and he looks like the character too. 16:20 The baboon medicine man is named 'Rafiki'. The brightly coloured face means he is a particular type of baboon called a 'mandrill'. 30:06 Their cub is not called Mufasa because she is a girl, although this is only revealed in the sequel. Her name is 'Kiara'. People sometimes claim that it is 'Hamlet', It is not. The 'wicked uncle' idea is much older, there are ancient Greek legends where the brother engineers the king's death usurps the throne and tries to get rid of the prince.

The Jungle Book was, and still is, my favourite animated Disney movie of all time, because not only was it the first Disney movie I ever saw, but it was also the first Disney movie I saw in theatres, and the first movie I ever saw in theatres. It had a theatrical re-release in 1990 and my parents took me to see it. As for The Lion King, my mom took my siblings and I to see it in theatres in the summer of 1994, during its original run. It was probably the biggest movie to come out that summer, and I switched schools that fall, and The Lion King is what helped me bond with the kids I was meeting at my new school. The funny thing is, nobody had any faith in it during production, and the studio had more faith in Pocahontas, which was due to come out the following summer, so all of the animators wanted to work on Pocahontas, and not Lion King. And oh boy everybody was wrong because The Lion King blew everyone away, making more money than Pocahontas ended up making in the summer of 1995.

Amazing reaction! I really would love for you to react to the rest of the franchise! I’d do it in this order: The Lion King, The Lion King 1 1/2, The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride, and The Lion King Live Action. There is a tv series called The Lion Guard, which follows Simba and Nala’s second born Kion as he becomes the leader of the Lion Guard and protect the Pridelands from their enemies; it takes place during The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride and not long after its ending. Also here’s some trivia; Hyenas are actually part of the feline family and a clan of hyenas are led by a female. Also in the original storyline, they actually had planned for Scar to find Simba besides Mufasa in distraught. Scar would pick him up by the mouth and attempt to kill him. Only to be interrupted by Sarabi and the lionesses, and they would’ve thought Scar had saved him. Simba would grow with Scar being his advisor. However, the production team thought it would best for him to run away in shame, so he’d be more humble and actually grew up from his carefree life style to take his place. 🦁💛🧡❤️🖤
