Seriously, this technology was so wasted. Imagine using this tech to make a documentary about extinction animals like Walking with Dinosaurs on this level. Or imagine creating a documentary based on fantasy creatures like an enchanted forest with real looking dragons, griffins, unicorns. Imagine those documentaries about possible future animals like the Future is Wild with this style.

The Lion King Stampede scene is like one of the most famous animated scenes in history. They could've have used this as a chance to make it even more realistic and terrifying cause you'd almost feel damage those wildebeest are throwing around. Yeah, that was one of the biggest turn-offs for me when I saw the trailers. It was so much duller and drier than the original. Other live-action movies like Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast were able to capture a sense of energy and vibrancy with their worlds, making them more appealing to the viewer. Even Jungle Book knew how to properly capture the deep and wild outlook of the jungle! So there was no excuse for this.

Shenzi was pretty awesome in this movie, in terms of being a pretty menacing example of an alpha female hyena. I would have loved to see her chafe under the 'leadership' of Scar. Since male hyenas are typically subservient to females, it's likely that she wouldn't enjoy being placed under anyone, especially a male. When she leads her clan to kill him in the finale, we get to see her true malice. The line, "Now this is a meal I've waited my whole life for." would be EXCELLENT if delivered towards Scar, a character with whom Shenzi has a concrete reason to be at odds with, despite their partnership. The hyenas wanted to kill the Lion King, and at that point in time, Scar could be considered just that.

Beyond even the issue of "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" being set in the daytime, I find the vocals in that song don't mix well. Don't get me wrong, Glover and Beyonce are both great singers, but they don't sound great together in my opinion. For a song that has a line about 'living in perfect harmony' their voices just do not work well together. Beyonce's vocals are just so much more powerful in that song that it makes it sound like Glover is struggling to keep up with her, and better mixing could have solved that problem.

The problem is that Lion King is way too iconic. You can't change much, because every little change is gonna cause outrage. So you have no choice but make a copy and paste movie. It's stupid, it didn't need to be remade. Like, Mulan for example, I understand. They are doing something different with it. Wtf is the point of this? Just seeing things in live action which is way less expressive than animation?

They were so smart that they figured out that they could just recycle the story of the original, put in realistic animation and well-known actors on it, put absolutely no effort in anything else and people would fall for it and earn them over a billion dollars. And I'm ashamed to say that I was one of the ones who fell for it. We are the dumb ones.
