@@Mugruncher they were going to remove the song entirely, reportedly because of the imagery related to N*zi Germany and old ww2 newsreels that visually relate Scar's uprising to the rise of f*scist states. There was backlash when this decision was leaked to the general public, so they decided, after they were already mostly through production, to re-add the scene to the film, but they changed a lot of plot points around it that make it no longer make sense. Scar doesn't know the hyenas in the remake, so the, 'be prepared' scene is him *meeting* them. On top of the rushed production and rewrites, Chiwetel Ejiofor (Scar's voice actor in the remake) is not a singer. Thus, the song is no longer a song, more like a spoken lyric poem with rythmic chanting in the background.

I wish they kept scars cut scene but made it less creepy so it makes sense why Nala would go to find help. Long story short, scar tries to make nala his queen to have kids and she rejects him, so he forcefully banishes her by calling out the hyenas, but it could’ve worked better if scar went for Simbas mom instead and she told nala to get help

You should check out the Broadway version because they put that in there! The song is called “The Madness of King Scar” and it’s seriously so good! It makes the story have way more levels and it in my opinion it’s one of the best songs!

I've read in articles that the reason that all the Moms in particular in those Classic movies die, is actually really depressing. 🤦‍♀️ Apparently Walt Disney had bought his parents a house, and his mother died inside from some gas leak. He always went on to blame himself for her death and writing it in his films was almost like...facing the trauma while also not facing it or something.

18:00 the IRONY of Matthew Broderick shouting "murderer" at someone 🤣 When in reality years before this he killed two women by driving while on drugs, he was on the wrong side of the road for a long time, despite the fact he had been driving in that country before so he can't claim he forgot which side of the road to drive on, he was either on drugs or getting road head because he smashed head on into another car and killed two women then FLED the country from hospital where he was taken to avoid being tested for drugs.

It's been a hot minute since I rewatched The Lion King, and I'm so amazed by the animation and camera work just from the parts in this commentary. I don't think I've ever watched it as an adult who can now appreciate the artistry involved. I may just have to watch it later.

Bro the funniest thing about that MGM lion joke is that the audio for that isn't even a lion, it's a tiger, because lions don't roar like that. So not only does he think he's the MGM lion, but the MGM lion thinks its a tiger.

And also, while the book says Scar got his scar from a buffalo, the Lion Guard says he got it from a snake which turned him more vengeful and destroyed his lion guard, thiugh a lion guard was never mentioned in any of the Lion King movies.
