This was one of the last times the "HAIDA MONARCH" came here under her own power.

The engines gave up the ghost, so they pulled them and made her a towed barge. The "Seaspan Survivor" if I remember right. Everything went downhill when MB sold Kingcome Navigation to the Washington Marine Group. There were two log ships, the Haida Monarch and Haida Brave. The Brave has had her cranes removed and has been laid up for years now.

I could have gone aboard for a tour, but I would have been stranded there until 2am. I figured "next time", but there was no next time.......

I was on the Q ot N a few times, it didn't handle the seas as good as the QPR. One time the QPR arrived here with the coke truck lying on its side, it was so rough the chains snapped! Gas pouring right into the engine room! Eeeek! Windows were blown out many times on both ships while crossing the strait. Fun!

Wow, my dad was the skipper on her for many years, if only he could see her now :(

Just cross Hecate Strait in February. Even rougher than the Pacific, at an eighth the price!

Is that one self unloading - does it list and dump the logs?
