I LOVE the Lone Ranger posing as a bad guy...he can show off and act cocky, which he's good at, but doesn't get to do normally! :D

The real life Lone Ranger was an African-American man named Bass Reeves.. This film is a perfect example of white washing history and systemic racism against African Americans.

"A fiery horse with the speed of light, the cloud of dust and a hearty Hi-Yo, Silver! The Lone Ranger...With his faithful Indian companion Tonto, the daring and resourceful masked rider of the plains led a fight for law and order in the early Western United States! Nowhere in the pages of history can one find a greater champion of justice! Returning with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear! From out of the past comes the thundering hoofbeats of the great horse Silver! The Lone Ranger rides again!"

I've always enjoyed watching these old westerns, the Lone Ranger tv series actually used a real Indian, a rariety in television in those days. Jay Silverheels was a very smart man.

Michael K ...it was very rare to use an Indian in most lead roles for Indians...so insulting when Hollywood resorted to using white men to play Indians...i.e. Chuck Connors aka the Rifleman was used to play Geronimo in a movie once... couldn't even get a white man to at least resemble a native American...I hate using the term indian

There are many times the Lone Ranger is not so clever, for instance, in this episode the outlaws find out that the ranger is working on the side of the law when he is discovered using silver bullets.

The music used in the Lone Ranger is from the William Tell overture by rossini . I used to embarrass my son by playing the end music as loud as possible in the car going down the street.

The fabulous "filler" music, which set the moods for various scenes, was the work of Alberto Colombo, Cy Feuer, Karl Hajos and William Lava, all geniuses, I believe, who made each episode come to life They added key moments that complemented all the classical selections used in addition to the Rossini. The composer who wrote the music for your scene (19:15 to 20:06) was Cy Feuer. the segment is called "Nightfall." You can purchase the cd with all the marvelous episode fillers on "The Music of the Lone Ranger" (cd) CINEDISC CDC 1019. For absolute delight, I applaud the efforts of Reginald M. Jones, Jr. for his superb book, The Mystery of the Masked Man's Music.

Why does the Lone Ranger has a belt around his waist like an old Man? Does he have lipstick on his lips? Why Tonto speak broken English? I thought he went to school with White kids. Me would like to know.
@bethanyb4478
@bethanyb4478 7 жыл бұрын
The series never says where or how Tonto learns English, or how to read and write. However, if he went to a mission school after his tribe was destroyed, it would explain why he put crosses on the graves of the dead Rangers in the first episode. This is, of course, pure speculation.

Me bet Kemosabe speak broken Indian, too! In fact, Kemosabe can't speak Indian at all! :) I don't believe it says Tonto went to school anywhere. Such a wonderful character--smart as a whip. Have no idea why on earth some folks think he's supposed to be "dumb." They sure did a bad job presenting it that way!
