When I took German in high school, we learned that "zeigen" is the verb "to show." But sometimes we got our vowels mixed up and said "ziegen" instead. The teacher said, "Nein, nein! 'Ziegen' means 'goats'."

Correct . Just a little vowel and it’s another word altogether . Dutch is much closer to English than German is .

Maria's high notes are astounding, but I simply adore that sigh of amazement and astonishment Georg lets slip when he witnesses her talent. My favorite part hands down! You can just tell how taken with her he's becoming, or possibly may already be.

Love this song and the movie in fact I have the movie. My favorite scene in the movie is when the children and Maria fall put of the boat and into the water. It gets funnier when Maria tells Captain Von Trapp how to raise his children better. Boy! Captain Von Trapp didn't dig that he was ready to ship Maria back to The Abbey. Pretty funny scenes would you all not agree? Thanks for sharing the video it brings back memories for me when i was a teenage girl in the sixties.

I'm not sure, but it's my theory that there were more experienced puppeteers actually controlling the puppets. The actors and actresses of the movie were spliced in above the footage of the moving puppets, and they pretended to move the puppets around from above. Yes, they were the real ones singing, but not the actual puppeteers.

That was so cute, way more adorable than I remember it being. It really puts a smile to my face. Although now that I think about it, of all the songs in the movie, I feel like this one holds the least weight in terms of actually adding to the film's story. In other words, if I were the director and I had to cut ANY song from the film, this one would have to be it.
