Wow you guys really had me going, I live about half way between Atlanta and Baltimore. Several months ago I was repainting my shed in the backyard and found a Lionel power brick plugged into an outlet on the back wall. At 1st I thought it was one of mine, but then I realized I had no reason to have one there. Then I saw a label saying ‘do not remove property of the US Government’, so I left it alone. Somehow your video showed up on my newsfeed today. I am convinced I am a victim of your piracy of my 110 service.

James May (from Top Gear) once laid what I think was 4 miles of HO track and ran some trains all the way across it. It would be cool to see all the O scale KZfaq’s do a similar challenge and have a train run a comparable distance.

Challengers were passenger locomotives and work more than capable of going over 100 miles an hour.

CRC Co. that’s the new name. Short for Cat railroad Construction Co. lol amazing job.

A 700-mile tunnel would be electrified. Cascade tunnel. Was electrified because of the smoke from the steam locomotives and even with the less amount of smoke from the diesel locomotives they still had to vent the tunnels in between trains.

One of the train-related subjects I routinely daydream about is such a tunnel -- but a more realistic scenario running between two adjoining houses with basement layouts. Even thought through the details of tunnel construction (cut & cover), waterproofing, power and derailment mitigation. At it's craziest extent, it would have involved three adjoining neighbors, each with different themed layouts. Imagine the sight of a modern autorack train thundering through someone's (large-ish) postwar layout on its way to a hi-rail system at the far end, confined to a single double-track main passing through its center, established as the only path with barely enough clearance for modern-era scale-sized trains to pass (as long as the switches remain set to straight through) :D
