Just a correction. Matthew in that text wasn't preaching in Parthia, but was returning from a mysterious "Land of the Blessed" also called a "Promised Land" and met Peter and Andrew who were returning from Parthia (maybe, it could just be Greece or Syria). Matthew reports a number of remarkable things about this place, and that the inhabitants are members of one of the lost tribes. Ancient Parthia, last I checked didn't overlap with modern day Siberia. That would be Sarmatia or Scythia, both of which were rather generic terms for regions not conquered by the Romans. Parthia proper was a competing Empire which descended from the old Persian Empire of previous centuries, that shared a border with the Roman Empire. Of course, borders and land ownership shifted frequently.

Yes. It was a bit rushed but I did say he was coming from someplace BEYOND Parthia. Which i believe was Siberia.

@3:33 When Kwaku says "they were extremely gay" re: Rome. From my understanding, the gay lifestyle in our society is pretty unique to our day. As horrific as pederasty was in Roman and Greek societies if I understand the situation correctly, men were still expected to get married and procreate. I think this is an important distinction to make because this is probably the first time in history where it's socially acceptable for significant numbers of the population to engage in a lifestyle that contributes to the depopulation of the planet. It's unheard of before our lifetime. We are truly living in the last days.

The three main branches of Eastern Christianity are the Eastern Orthodox Church, the Oriental Orthodox Church, and the Church of the East, each of which contain multiple smaller churches (some of which have have entered into communion with the Roman Catholic Church, and are known as Eastern Catholic Churches). All of them adhere to the Nicene Creed.
@UpriseMusic
@UpriseMusic 6 ай бұрын
Great point. Most Orthodox Churches adhere to the first thousand years of Ecumenical Councils and creeds as a whole. For Russians and Greeks, that’s half their religion. The “Oriental Orthodox” grouping broke off first, namely in Egypt; so they only accept the first three councils. Their breaking was mostly over language barriers, and they’ve since tried to regain communion with EO’s; to little success.

According to the prophet Joseph Smith, which I’m assuming quite confidently is speaking under the authority of the Lord, stated that only one individual, the president and prophet, is the only person with the authorization to hold all the keys of the Lord’s church. While some of these churches may have an unbroken history, both like the problem with the Catholic Church, ordinations would be without said keys. I believe, like with the Nephites and Lamenites, all believers will come together as one large body of saints.

Our Priesthood is “stronger”, because at the start of every dispensation the priesthood must be Re-dispensed. For example in 3 nephi, nephi had the priesthood, yet, when Christ came, Jesus re-dispensed it. In fact it was during this time of the translation, when Joseph received the keys from John and the og first presidency for the priesthood to be Re-Dispensed

“For a rock is every disciple of Christ ... But if you suppose that upon the one Peter only the whole church is built by God, what would you say about John the son of thunder or each one of the Apostles? Shall we otherwise dare to say, that against Peter in particular the gates of Hades shall not prevail, but that they shall prevail against the other Apostles and the perfect? Does not the saying previously made, ‘The gates of Hades shall not prevail against it,’ hold in regard to all and in the case of each of them?" - Origen, Early Patristic Father on non-Roman Christian Churches

Later, in Book XIII, Chapter 31, in his same Commentary on the Gospel of Matthew that you referenced, Origen wrote: "But since it was necessary, even if something in common had been said in the case of Peter and those who had thrice admonished the brethren, that Peter should have some element superior to those who thrice admonished, in the case of Peter, this saying 'I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of the heavens,' (Matthew 16:19) has been specially set before the words, 'And whatever things you shall bind on earth,' etc. And, indeed, if we were to attend carefully to the evangelical writings, we would also find here, and in relation to those things which seem to be common to Peter and those who have thrice admonished the brethren, a great difference and a pre-eminence in the things said to Peter, compared with the second class. For it is no small difference that Peter received the keys not of one heaven but of more, and in order that whatsoever things he binds on the earth may be bound not in one heaven but in them all, as compared with the many who bind on earth and loose on earth, so that these things are bound and loosed not in the heavens, as in the case of Peter, but in one only; for they do not reach so high a stage, with power as Peter to bind and loose in all the heavens (Matthew 16:19)."

Hey friends - me again! Just to clarify, the Apostles didn’t establish 12 different churches, similar to denominations. They established churches and communities that still were under the umbrella of the one holy, Catholic and apostolic Church! You mentioned St. Thomas in India, Tradition says he evangelized India and founded the Syro-Malabar Church. They still exist today, but they are still under Rome and the Pope! In Catholicism, there are many Eastern Catholic Churches such as Byzantine or Maronite, but they aren’t separate, they are still under Rome! It’s sort of like how in Catholicism, we have different Diocese around the world, each run by a Bishop or an Arch Bishop. The Pope is simply the Bishop of Rome, being the successor of Peter who Christ built His Church upon! The Apostles not only passed down the faith, but they passed down the office of Bishop through what we call, Apostolic Succession. Catholics trace our origin all the way back to the Apostles and to Christ Himself! Also, Arius was punched because he was spreading heresy lol The whole Church disagreed with Arius because he started teaching that Christ was made by God the Father rather than Christ being co-eternal with the Father. The Church teaches that all 3 persons of the Holy Trinity are co-eternal with each other. Do we condone St. Nicholas’ punch…not necessarily, but it is pretty funny! lol 😂 -your friendly neighborhood Catholic! :)
@WARDRADIO
@WARDRADIO 6 ай бұрын
The Pope is cool, but he's merely a bishop. That's just one of the many priesthood offices mentioned in the Bible. And these churches are indeed independent from Catholicism, which means "universal". Our Catholic brother and sisters are wonderful and we love them, but we shouldn't forget that they are just 1/12th of the Churches set up by the original Apostles. We're glad a few of them survived to make the world a better place.

Well, the Eastern Catholic Churches have not always been in communion with Rome. Rather they were separate but later joined the Roman Catholic Church. Also, the eastern Christians outside of the Roman Catholic Church would contend that, from their point of view, you guys are the schismatic heretics, not them, so they were never subject to your church, but I’m not here to fight about that.
@brandonjaquish
@brandonjaquish 6 ай бұрын
@@WARDRADIO I appreciate your reply. That’s my point though, that the Catholic Church isn’t just 1/12 of the churches set up by the Apostles. There is still One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. Just like Peter is one of the Apostles, he was also the head of the Apostles being the Rock that Christ built His Church on. The Pope is the successor to Peter and is the Bishop of Rome, just like we have many Bishops around the world that are in charge of a community or Diocese, they still fall under the leadership of the Holy Father (Pope). I know we’ll agree to disagree lol but just looking out for the Church! I still appreciate the conversation my friends! 🙏🏼

Sorry, the Syro-Malabar church didn’t come under Rome until the 1500’s. Rome spent lots of time and effort trying to bring many of the ancient Eastern churches under its authority, promising them financial support and “no changes required”. The changes always came later, with forced latinization. Rome accepted Nestorians, non-Chalcedon christians and orthodox groups under these terms. The Syro-Malabar had no connection to Rome prior to the 1500’s, and it’s been a rocky road, to say the least.
@brandonjaquish

@@longfellowmarketing4192either way, my point still stands that the church established in India wasn’t independent from the One Holy Catholic Apostolic Church. This is true-sexual perversion, like any other moral failing-has existed throughout time, especially as societies decay. But to claim it was generally accepted says more about the speaker than the anything else. To be clear, SSA is a manifestation of underlying psychological disorder, and theres no reason to think that this is constant across societies. Its when people act on such impulses that a moral dimension enters the picture. BTW, YT tends to consider what i just said “hate speech” and is likely to give me another 24 hour ban!

Maybe that's hard to hear, but the Catholic claim to primacy is challenged. They do NOT align with the Creeds, and have a few flavors of their own. The Catholics prevail not because they're older, or have more authority, but because they hitched their cart to the horse of western Europe. We're glad they did! But that doesn't mean they have any more authority than these other Churches.

I’m not arguing anything about the RC church. I’m simply saying that all of these churches use the Nicean creed, including the Ethiopians. None of them are non-credal.

I don't believe that Christ spent the years between 13 and 30 traveling the world. He was an observant Jew, and all the records show that he wasn't wealthy. Where would he have had the means to travel all over the world. I do believe that prophets in those lands had revelations, but I don't believe He spent the time traveling.

It makes me think of 3 Nephi verse 1 where Jesus says that He has other sheep, which are not of this land, neither of the land of Jerusalem, neither in any parts of that land round about whither I have been to minister. I suppose He means all these places you are talking about. It makes sense.

yes, good chance Jesus was in India. Also good chance He was studying with the Essenes.

There’s 0% historical evidence for this. Early Hinduism has parallels to Judaism, and Jesus was a Jew - but that’s it. He lived, died, and his resurrection all occurred exclusively in modern-day Israel.

@@kathyharbarger13 The Essenes were a mystic Jewish sect during the Second Temple period (in Israel) that lived from the 2nd century BCE to the 1st century CE. There’s always new findings - but imaging that a poor Jewish man that died young and has been studied for 2,000 years was actually based in India is absurd. By that logic - he was in Russia, too. The Church they mention is a wing of The (Syrian) Orthodox Church; which has an abundance of preserved, accurate information out there about it.

It’s because of the Orthodox and Catholic Church that we even have “The Bible” as we know it. They, along with the Jewish authors of The Tanakh, invented most of the language and concepts Joseph Smith would later abuse.

@@TP-om8of it’s incredible to watch as they (with great hubris!) try to warp any aspect of Christianity they can get their hands onto. Every aspect of church history can be adopted into the Mormon narrative as long as the apologist is ignorant enough! I really hope their audience doesn’t fall for this garbage. Heartbreaking.

Uhh…Egyptian Muslims have violently persecuted more Coptic Christian’s than any other group. It’s been a crisis for centuries. Where’s the first place the Muslims took over when Muhammad died? Jerusalem. What do they call the taxes imposed on Christian citizens in Muslim lands? The jizya. They also don’t allow Christian’s to build new Churches or fix old ones in Muslim lands. Muhammad also ripped off Jewish, Christian, and Zoroastrian theology (which existed in Arabia) to create Islam. Their video was trash, but… Read history.

It's time to get away from the false history Muslims (especially Muslim influencers/youtubers) like to say. Muslims have historically oppressed and persecuted every other religion that isn't Islamic. When Muslims took over a city they gave Christians and Jews 3 options: Convert to Islam, pay a high tax so the government doesn't shut you down (doesn't or didn't stop regular peeople), or die. Every other religion got 2, Convert to Islam or Die. Hell, today it is illegal to send Christian missionaries to some Muslim countries, partially why this Church doesn't send people to the middle east to preach.

This is ridiculous. These aren’t “lost churches”; they’re well known to anyone even vaguely knowledgeable about church history. Some of them have segments that are in communion with EO or RC churches…thus there’s an Ethiopian Catholic Church as well as the Tewahedo church. And no, _none_ of them have Masonic Mormon-style rituals or beliefs. The level of ignorance in this video is simply mind boggling
