Hey friends - Regarding the breastmilk image of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Saint depicted is St. Bernard of Clairvaux, a huge devotee of Mary. It is more of a legend now, but the story goes is that Bernard had some kind of disease or distress around his lips, and while praying, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to him and caused her milk to touch his lips, healing him but also, according to the legend, "endowed them with celestial eloquence...". The image may look weird if you don't know the context, but of course breast feeding or breast milk, or breast in general back then was a beautiful thing, often mentioned in Scripture. For example, Isaiah 66:10-11 & 1 Corinthians 3:1-3 mention breastfeeding. Christian relics are a beautiful thing. Often in the Catholic Church, we have bones of Saints going all the way back to the Apostles as well as body parts of Saints which have been preserved for veneration. There is Scriptural precedence for this. In 2 Kings 13:21, a man who had died was cast in the grave of Elisha and after he touched his bones, "...he revived and stood up on his feet." From your favorite neighborhood catholic! :)

Breastmilk didn't make people feel uncomfortable until formula was pushed and allowed to be (falsely) marketed as better than breastmilk. It was just seen as baby food. It does have super healing qualities, and some cultures even today have adults drink it occasionally.

My grandparents lived next to the Huntington family. She was given their coffin cane to keep safe and had it in their back of her closet for many years while their family was having debates over what to do with it. She showed it to my dad and he said that he was filled with a testimony of Joseph Smith when he looked in at his hair.

should create a challenge with a cash prize for someone to dictate from memory the entire book of mormon with established break periods and times with the duration of the recitation approximates the period of time joseph took to translate the book... those attempting this feat will have a scribe that must write down the dictation... which will limit the speed with which they can dictate the memorized book.
@rutht2023
@rutht2023 Ай бұрын
Yes. I read some person who said they thought the BoM was made up prior, then recited the 'memorized' part to the scribe. That would be really really really hard to do.
