The Lost Railway Station Of Swanbourne

As I promised more of other things I like to do, which Subscribers may enjoy...
The station has been left mostly unknown about for 52 years until a decision to re-open the line, the station has now been demolished. I managed to make this record of it last year...

Very interesting video. It is so sad to see all the branch lines we have lost over the years. Beeching and Marpels have a lot to answer for. They looked at a profit and loss statistic, they didn't care how many railway job's they lost or how many staff had their daily life destroyed. I wonder how much they got paid for swinging the axe. Now our roads and motorways are gridlocked. We need a new railway plan now .

Hell yes. I love abandoned places! I've been lucky enough to be around a few of them before. But I've been wanting to get back into it for years now. Great video you got there.

Thanks mate, it was actually still home to two elderly brothers who grew up at the station and had all sort of stories about the old steam trains...

Nice one Brian very evocative. I rather suspect this is personal - a reminiscence of whispered dreams - alas, never to by realised. Love the music and cine very apt. It's sad how our mortal coil tears through our segment of that overriding clock with nought but a whim of what could have been. We are after all a flicker in the midst. I for one now know that Swanbourne Railway Station was a place. A big 'thumbs up'.

Yes, It was only 2 months ago I sat down in the station house with the last surviving brother and had a plate of fish and chips with him... A cup of tea out of a china cup and teapot with a cosy on to keep warm... Took me right back to my childhood, tales of how his mother would quickly close all the windows facing the line when a train came in to keep the smoke and steam out... Why does progress have to destroy... :(

@@AllMy78s Your poignancy doesn't go unnoticed. I think you experience the same as me when I do my research on the 78s I upload. I'm saddened by some of the short lives some of these entrepreneurs lived. Cie la vie. They will always be remembered by the likes of us who air the beautiful music they left. You should go back to where the Station was and nonchalantly sniff the air for that tell tale aroma of coal burning and steam - then you can rest your head on your pillow at night and dream that you were there.

Yeah a re-edit that I did for a facebook page... Has now been completely demolished... Uplifting, yes, working on it... ;)

We have many trains where I live but they are all agricultural/commercial/industrial, no passenger trains. Have to travel 45 miles(72km) for a passenger train
