The owners of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Jane Bullard (Jessica Alba) and Coach Punch Cherkov (Verne Troyer) visit Guru Pitka (Mike Myers) in order to convince him to help their team.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Austin Powers trilogy star Mike Myers collaborates with writer Graham Gordy for this comedy concerning a self-help guru named Pitka (Myers) who devotes his life to unknotting the romantic entanglements of troubled couples. As a young child, Pitka is abandoned at the gates of an ashram in India and taken in by kindly gurus. An American by birth, Pitka absorbs the lessons taught to him by his teachers and later returns to the United States to become a leading authority on spirituality and self-help. While Pitka's methods are decidedly unorthodox, they may be the only means of ensuring that the Toronto Maple Leafs win the coveted Stanley Cup. Maple Leafs star Darren Roanoke (Romany Malco) is in trouble. His estranged wife has recently begun dating L.A. Kings star Jacques Grande (Justin Timberlake) in a vengeful effort to send her husband's career into a tailspin, and when Roanoke starts to falter on the ice, the whole team starts to suffer. As their visions of leading the Maple Leafs to the Stanley Cup are quickly going up in flames, team owner Jane Bullard (Jessica Alba) and Coach Cherkov (Verne Troyer) enlist the aid of the world's best-known relationship expert in restoring the peace between Roanoke and his wife, and getting their team back on track to the championships.

I dont understand the negative reviews of this movie. I sometimes think it's to silly for some people to admit it's hilarious and genius. But the truth is silliness doesn't effect creativity or hilarity. This is one of my favorite comedy films of all time. Deff up there with my top 3 Myers films. I don't know what people were expecting. It's just like all Myers later movies.

I was thinking the same thing! This IS my favorite Myers movie! It’s the comedic life lessons for me in this one. I use D.R.A.M.A. to this day. A true 💎

The whole movie is one painful unfunny dick joke. Don't get me wrong, I love Mike Myers. This includes Austin Powers and Wayne's World, but this film is just bad from start to finish!

I figured out why this movie was made. Myers wanted the Leafs to win the Stanley Cup even if it was fictional. So he said "I'll go through hell if I have to." Cue Peter Souless saying "Ok then do this movie for me." And thus Love Guru was born.

to me that little clip of them singing is the most interesting scene in this whole movie. is it just me though or does jessica alba's head wobble look not really "indian" enough? looks like she maybe practiced a lot but just doesn't seem to have that same thing that actual indian dancers have. shes still amazingly gorgeous though haha

I actually really enjoyed this movie. It’s a silly satirical movie not meant to be taken seriously, that’s Myers shtick. It was a really dumb movie but that was the point. I feel like this movie fell victim to changing times, this 90s style of silly dumb comedy was out. Had Austin Powers come out around the time of the Love Guru it probably would’ve received the same wrap.
