I own one. Brought it in N.J. It needed work. Nothing too expensive thank God. I replaced the front shocks and struts. Sway bars. Front tires, spark plugs, drain all fluids. For the price I paid, under 2500, not bad. The windshield had a crack and I replaced the entire windshield. that was an easy repair for under 200. All in all my 2003 element ex was a good sale.

@@brianthompson9241 she went for $5300, which is pretty fair. I think it's a lot of car for the money, but a good number for a car with over 200k on the odo.

Taking it through the twisties was satisfying to watch. I don't know where you're at but it reminds me a lot of the mountain and foothills here in central California/Fresno area.

Yep. Got an '05 AWD with a 5-speed and 135,000 miles (219,000 kms). Sounds like you are shifting at about 4000 RPM. No need to do that with this K-series engine - 2500 RPM is lots for basic city cruising, 4000 if you "want the vtec to kick-in"! LOL

I felt the same too. This is not a race car. Please be gentle. I understand the joy of driving a manual, I have a 2008 EX-Manual and I enjoy it more and more every time I get in the driver’s seat. It took me some time to figure out gear changes and I find 2,500 rpms very compatible with the motor and my style of driving.

Im might be buying one at a small dealer sold as is. Clutch is 7 years old most of the maintanence was done at Honda service centre. How was the undercarriage? Im up in Canada so im worried about rusted Rockers panels not passing safety. I heard for the most part Honda did a good job on rust protection on these Elements.

Have you received the new recall for the Honda Element 2003 to 2010 rear brace support my dealer said if the car was too rusted out they would be keeping the car because it’s unsafe to drive and giving me book value for my 2006 Honda element with 490,000 km , which is probably nothing. I don’t think I’m going to be bringing it in for the recall I don’t wanna take that chance, of them keeping my car.

"Hey Joe". Nope, no recall notice here, but this car is off to a new home now, so they will likely get the newest notice as the Reg'd Owner now. Very little rust to deal with out here in NorCal so that's a bonus for us out here. As for avoiding a recall, I really don't think they can "Keep your car" against your will if they deem it too rusty for a recall, so I don't think you have much to worry about there. Worst case they might have you sign a paper tiger of a waiver saying the car is unsafe and you declined service despite being advised otherwise, so you're likely safe to get your recall done. That said, if your car is so rusty that it's deemed to be a death trap and they will give you retail bluebook for it, shouldn't you take it and get a car that's not a death trap? Either way, I'd say go get your recalls done.

sept 2020 I purchase a 05 granny owned 2wd Element w/automatic. She had 83k, three of the original tires and pristine inside and out. It had all fluids changed befor my purchase . Costco tire guys were amazed at the three Firestone tires that were on the car were original equipment. 4.5k was what I paid... A estate car I was not going to get away!

Very nice car. Sorry, but this was a rediculiously long boring review. How many times did you need to say 208,000 miles? No comment is if they car had good service records, just the phrase, well looked after. 6 minutes top, this review could have been over. I don't get this kind of folksie chatter, saying nearly nothing.
