I was like you. I thought they were goofy looking, and it was an off-beat design choice by Honda at a time when I think almost everyone was moving toward curvy and aerodynamic. In fact, I never liked Honda design much. But the outside appearance has grown on me, and the utility value of the inside due to the boxy shape and clever interior engineering makes this a truly unique and valuable vehicle.

Bought a '07 Kiwi Green with 25K on the odometer in late 2008. Gave it to my brother 2 years ago with almost 200K on it. No major repairs, ever. I took out the back seats years ago and used it as a micro-mini van. One of the few drawbacks for me was you couldn't haul more than a few sheets of drywall or plywood. Other than that, it was almost perfect for my needs. It's an SUV with the accent on the "U". If Honda reintroduced the Element, I would buy in a heartbeat!

Amazing to see the differences between the 2003 and the 2004 that I own. The Element is a great car, for sure. Ours is over 207,000, and we have maintained it and repaired it to keep it in top shape. Honda could update this vehicle, and justify the $25K asking price with a more powerful motor, updated interior, and a few minor changes that would enhance what is already there, and have a built-in market already.

@albertlilly I just bought a 2005 Element with 148,000 miles for $4,000. Unfortunately 20 miles later it started to serge quickly at around 3,000rpms, then the engine light came on. As long as I don't go much higher than 2,500rpms quickly, it runs ok. Error codes came up as P2646 low oil pressure & P2647 high oil pressure. I have what I need to repair it, just waiting for it not to rain when I get home from work. If Honda brought back the Element again, it should have their 3.5ltr V6 2WD and or 4WD STD or automatic transmission, LED lights in and out, more aggressive wheels, design the driver/passenger seat tracks to allow the seats to go back further, adjustable steering wheel in and out and a digital AC temperature display. Except for the running issue, I enjoy driving it, just wish it had more power than 160hp. My 1997 GMC Sonoma S-15 with the Vortex V-6 only made 190hp, but was a big difference and was also fun to drive. I put 245,000 miles on it.

I bought my 5-speed manual 2006 Element new and still use it daily. It is the Swiss Army Knife of vehicles. People are constantly approaching me to try to buy it. The ones I've met who previously owned one always have "seller's remorse". I will never sell mine but I will give it to my daughter when I am no longer able to drive. Honda Corporation marketed this car to the wrong groups, the "surfer dudes" and "outdoorsy types". Instead, they should have aimed at us older dudes are DIY people who carry big "stuff". I've carried appliances, furniture, luggage, giant dogs, drum sets, bicycles and countless other items. When I take it to my local Honda dealership for the "big services" (I still do the simpler ones.), the sales people always tell me they could still sell these every day if Honda would bring it back. Then they ask me to trade mine in. Not gonna happen. The K24 engine is bulletproof as long as you give it the scheduled services it requires. I've seen some with over 500K miles on them.

I'm stunned that Honda hasn't brought this back, its got a really tight turning radius, so its perfect in smaller parking lots, with the suicide back door load and unloading is a piece of cake and car seats aren't a back killer. The visibility is unequaled, and for those of you that don't like tech it's very basic. if you lower the back of the front seat, it creates a lounge seat, which is great for things like ferry line ups. It's great for road trips. I have a 2006 and we just reached 200000k. The clam sell tail also makes it great for loading. Without the big center console it very easy to move around the vehicle. Our vehicle looks pristine and quite a few mechanics have told me that it is in great shape. We wouldn't give it up for anything.

I own a 2010 and plan on driving it until the tires fall off. I use it for camping, hiking, farm use, hauling (dogs, kids, building supplies). I have also driven this car on multiple long car trips and is always comfortable for all and even added a pull along trailer for hauling my kayak, and items to big to fit inside it. Shocks are gone but new ones are coming, it has some old nasty Autolite spark plugs but now I put some NGKs Iridium n the more I do, the more I love this car. It's a great vehicle, I miss mine, had it 9 years. Biggest drawback: I rear-ended a Beemer at 30mph, TOTALED the element. Hardly a scratch on the Beemer. The front crumpled, scared the blank out of me.😨😲😲😨 I couldn't get out fast enough. Traumatic. Gas mileage is aprox 25 mpg. It's really not that comfortable for camping if you put the back seats down per instructions...the hump hits you right in the back, you need memory foam. It needs screens on the sunroof and back windows otherwise you get mega claustrophobic. Front seat reclined with memory foam is the best ever. Suicide side doors are great for loading. I had my back seats folded up on the wall for daily use, makes some privacy on the windows. I love no cloth upholstery, and the rubber floor. AWD did great in all snow conditions...blizzards too. With the back seats removed, I have hauled a full sized sofa; a 3 piece couch set; futon with wood frame; a huge office desk; if you put the passenger seat up as far as it will go, and think first, it's amazing what you can fit in. Changing oil yourself is a pain. Get Groupon discounts for frequent full synthetic oil changes. Bad thing, it can't tow anything and the official load is under 800 lbs which is low. It's a great one person vehicle.

Thank your for such a wonderful video about my Honda Element. I learned about some features I didn't know about! I hope you are right the Honda Element will be brought back to market. I owned a new 2007 EX Element which was "totaled" (no injuries) last year. I immediately lucked out and found a used 2008 SX Element with approximately 164K that I could afford to pay cash in full. My Honda runs like new, but have only put 170K since its purchase. You are right, we Element owners maintain and keep our vehicles in top shape, and we favor the Element for all the reasons (and more) that you give. Its our home on wheels. I wouldn't want another style of vehicle,. I think HONDA executives are in for a pleasant sales surge surprise if they bring the Element Back to market. P.S. they have the best animated advertisements, check them out on KZfaq, just search "Honda and the Crab" HONDA just needs to market the Element a bit smarter, there is a huge market out here waiting to buy the Element. They should hire us, who love the car, to consult and help spread the word+! Thank you, again.

Drove one from 2008-2017. Only sold it because I needed a car that could tow 3,500 lbs and the Element only tows 1,500 so I got an Acura MDX. It's a great car but I miss my Element every single day. Scotty Kilmer just posted a video claiming they're bringing back the Element for 2010 but I can't find any official confirmation of it. I miss my Element so much that I've considered buying one just to own it. I've even looked into doing a V6 swap. Only thing close to it that would work for me is the 1st gen Ridgeline but my wife detests how they look.

I have a first gen CRV, I really like it but I also wish I could drive an Element too. Both really practical cars but the Element just looks so cool. Maybe they'll make an electric element some day...
@reesedaniel58353 жыл бұрын
I don't understand the fascination with "electric cars". I hate the very idea. Imagine the amount of control that would be handed over to the government and it's already oppressive system. I like my freedom too much for that. They do plan to force us into all electric cars in the not too distant future. I wish people would stop encouraging it by promoting and gushing over these things. You will only be able to drive 60 miles one way and be forced to hook up to their chargers which will be connected to your home utility bill. I dread the day this becomes reality.

I think I'm the only one that doesn't look at the element for it's capabilities.. but I literally like the style. It's like a jeep and a standard SUV had a baby
@MrUltralight554 жыл бұрын
The Element is a very versatile vehicle, as most people know, so much room. Honda would do well to revisit this vehicle as long as they kept it basic, the way it was!!
@reesedaniel58353 жыл бұрын
Will never happen. If they bring it back, it will be a 1.5L "turbo" with a CVT transmission and will have "auto stop start" and lots of other intrusive and annoying "safety tech"...

With inflation and popularity. A decent used Element with under 100k miles runs about $17-22k now. A good used one with 160k miles is about 10-12k. There was one listed 2-days ago for $8100, new struts, new clutch, 168k miles that sold immediately. I should have jumped on it but was waiting for money transfer from one bank to the other.

Cool. I had a Ford Transit Connect Wagon. I was using it for deliveries. My family used it for a trip from Virginia to Florida in back. 3 adults and 2 kids. They were able to travel comfortably with all of their luggage. When I stop doing deliveries I got rid of it. Now I wish I didn't. I may have to check out the Honda Element. Looks like it can replace the Transit Connect because it appears to be more flexible. He didn't mention how it does at highway speed.

I own a 2004 Element AWD, but I have tried a Transit Connect, and have to say the Connect is more sure-footed on the highway than my Twitchy Element. Likely the Transit is way better on fuel too, just a more modern vehicle all around.

Automatic is best, dont have to worry about all the issues & maintenance that comes w/stick shift anything. The only fallback is the backseat windows dont roll down & back seat feels a tad claustrophobic in hot weather when your stuck sitting in the back seats.

If you do research manual wins by far you never have to replace the transmission $ and it performs better overall

I love my element! The sad thing is is that one time a homeless guy in the city scratched a huge cross on my drivers side for no reason....tried to get it fixed but now it’s just a black cross. Oh well! I still love my baby. If Honda remakes the element I will buy for sure.

@NoBoringChars Yuck. I'd rather it come back with a V6 like the Accords and a bit bigger, more rugged tires and higher ground clearance. And NO Nanny "safety" tech. That's the main reason I wanted an older one. I'm a big girl and I know how to drive. I don't want a bumper car that stops everytime I'm at a red light or stop sign. And I don't need to be told to put on my seat belt, etc.

I had a 2005 for about 8 years. I enjoyed it very much, but it had some drawbacks that finally took its toll and i sold it. 1. The road noise was uncomfortable to the point you could not hold a conversation with a passenger without shouting. And i did have several different tires throughout its 8 years and none seemed to help much. 2. MPG due to the shape and weight was so-so 17 city, 21 hwy mpg at best. 3. Power was adequate with just driver or one passenger. The maximum occupancy weight was 670 lbs. including luggage, which is really low. Had this been a small V6 i would of kept it for 100 years. Ive had V6 Maximas and toyotas that made 26-28 mpg. I do miss the huge cargo area even with the back seats in and the minivan sized cargo area once the rear seats were removed.

It really really needs a six speed and you can mod the transmission to have a sixth gear as It is the same transmission offered in the civic which did have six gears. Take it on the highway and it is obvious that it needs that extra gear. One other thing I don't like is the headlights have very poor range on low beam and you almost need to run them on high always on dark country roads. I will be mod ding the transmission when clutch replacement time comes. The suicide doors are a pain in the ass for loading and unloading people/things In a parking lot with cars parked next to you, but this is the only car for me I will never get rid of it.
