In Episode 60 of ‘Cars, Shops & Collections’ we pay homage to the iconic film 'Smokey and the Bandit' with a special episode showcasing one of the fastest Pontiac Trans Am Bandit Tribute Cars!
Dr. Tony Alamo is the owner of this Trans Am and his passion for cars and ‘Smokey and The Bandit’ shines in this episode! It was an absolute treat to spend the afternoon with Dr. Alamo… Doc is a well-known figure in Nevada serving as the chairman of the Nevada Gaming Commission and as chairman of the Nevada State Athletic Commission's Medical Advisory Board!
In this episode we also meet Walter Martinez, the mastermind behind this special build! Walt & Dr. Alamo reveal the details of the powerful motor in this Trans Am AND why they decided on dropping an LT1 engine in their build.
STICK AROUND TILL THE END FOR ONE WICKED RIDE ALONG.
Be sure and check out other episodes of “Cars, Shops & Collections.” Every week I feature the stories behind classic cars and the people that own them.

Pass. 77 front end, on a 79 Car. No shaker hood, non trans am steering wheel. Its impressive, but not my cup of tea.

I agree. There are enough complete cars out there that if you are going to spend the money, there is no need to Frankenstein the two together. Nice work done and impressive engine swap, but it bothers me every time I see a mismatched nose and tail.

My best friend's dad bought him a black on black 1978 trans am in 1999 for $5,000 back in 1990s era these cars were so cheap! He still owns the trans am he is the 2nd owner it has 90,000 miles all OEM yet today besides flowmaster mufflers. They're such cool cars! I can relate to what this guy is saying. I finished high school in 2002. I remember seeing 1999 cobra cars I fell in love and was the guy bringing fast fords/mustang & ford magazines to school in my bookbag. In 2003 getting my first job and seeing a 2003 mustang cobra and 2003 mach 1's on local ford lot. I wanted one of either so badly but it took many years before I could afford it. I think this is how it goes with all of us car fans.

Original car made 220hp with the W72 package and Pontiac 400ci. The Oldsmobile 403 made 185hp. Also the car used for stunts and burnouts etc was a specially built 468ci poncho with a 4spd. Whereas the interior shots with Burt was a stock 400 and Automatic

Interesting homologation between the two years, I knew something was a little different when I saw the tail lights. You are smart enough to create an engine that's a daily driver, as well as having a lot more modern horsepower, good for you. I also noticed that it is a manual transmission even better.

I get sick of supposed car guys calling the Pontiacs arrow head "nose" center front grill/bumper areas,. BEAKS..LMAO ITS A TERRIBLE unflattering misrepresentation, on fire Bird or T/A ITS LITTLE more forgivable, but on gtos and every other iconic Pontiacs arrow head design feature, its big understatement for me!!!

He needs to up grade the rim to the 17 inch year one gold flake rims. Also the LT1 doesn’t make 490 hp, unless it’s been modified. And I agree, SB 2 sucked. All in all, awesome car.
