6 years ago I tried to take my own life. I was only 23 at the time, but I was doing a chef apprenticeship and was disillusioned because I had realized I made too many mistakes in my life to turn things around. Fast forward 6 years, I’d finished that apprenticeship but left the chef life behind, along with the alcoholism and daily self-inflicted injuries like casually slicing my fingers and rubbing salt in them just to keep myself awake. I can’t say I’m doing any better now, since all my friends are getting married and moving on with their lives, and for me, I’ve barely made it this far. But someday, I hope I can find out how it feels to be loved, and to be proud of myself. Not today, but someday. And if I can do it, you sure as heck can too.

I remember that every time the song said “hey” or “ho” my dog would bark as a puppy. He passed away today and I wanted to listen to it as a memento. There isn’t a song out there that’s made me cry as much as this. Edit: Thank you everyone for your support! I was out of town when I got the news, but once I got home his brother helped me deal with the loss. We are both alright, but every now and then it's clear that both Popi (my dog) and I both miss our furry little buddy, which is okay. It's important to cherish the moments we have with our companions. Please refrain from arguing about religion, as everyone regardless of their beliefs mourns when someone they care about dies. The existence or nonexistence of an afterlife doesn't change the fact that we are on earth now, and we should enjoy the time we spend with others. Stay safe and stay hydrated!

This song always played at my favorite Chinese buffet as a kid. I mostly remember the times it would play when I sat in a booth that was below a faded, lighten up, black and white photo of the mountains with a waterfall. I would always look up at that picture and hoped to see something like that in real life. I loved the stale pizza, I picked up a nasty quirk of eating it with ketchup. After eating my food, I would always stack up jello blocks with my dad and eat my cookies and cream ice cream. My ice cream would always have a bit of water inside of it because I never bothered drying out the ice cream scooper after playing around with the tiny sink. I always looked forward to the fortune cookies, It’s not really my favorite taste nowadays but back then I would eat all of the table’s fortune cookies. While my dad paid, I would always look at the Koi pond while resisting the urge to take a swim. If you made me choose between a free meal at a five star gourmet restaurant or the Chinese buffet, I would run to the buffet along with 50 cents to feed the Koi in the pond. I wish I went to it one more time before it closed down. Maybe it’s not as good as younger me made it out to be back then but that place really meant something to me.

During Outdoor Ed, we were all in our cabin about to sleep with the lights off. Our leader randomly came, i was the first one to spot him with a guitar. I’m a HT survivor. It began when I was under 21. I played this song a lot before breaking-free with the help of a mandated reporter. When I was in it, I longed for freedom and belongingness outside of those wicked walls. I made a vow to never give up on myself, my hopes, my wishes or my dreams. This song is so near and dear to me. It’s not even my favorite music genre, but the lyrics really spoke to me when I needed it the most! I will always listen to this song and hope that it touches many more lives! All most of us want is to be loved and to belong.

My younger brother committed suicide last weekend by overdosing on something. He was found with headphones on, presumably listening to something. This is his youtube account. He made a playlist containing 6 songs that was edited the day he passed. This is one of the 6 songs. With the method he used, he was dead after about 30 minutes, probably unconscious around 12 minutes. I like to think that it was peaceful for him with his music on. I love you Myles, I'll miss you everyday for the rest of my life.

I was 19 when this dropped...the beginning of my addiction.
