@@Dorkyand40 Yeah, not sure why that wasn't an obvious choice, as they are very inexpensive and perfectly suited to this application, it would give you some great data to work with. You could even implement wheelie control, since the esc already has control of the throttle.

@@Dorkyand40 Dude you help me big time also I learn most of this ESC from you. The way you break it down is perfect and very easy to understand. I'm a retired Mechanic a lot goes with RC drag as far as the setup suspension and tire are almost similar to a real drag car the electronic on the other hand is challenging. Chad, I have a question know one seems to have the answer too , you know a lot about esc's for 2S, can I use a Spektrum firma 150 amp with a 3 or 4 turn motor ? Spektrum didn't say no but they did say it was 3S-6S but yet the input volt is 7.4-22+ ? I have some extra stuff laying around like most do and I thought of piecing together an Outlaw car, what's your take on it ? Thanks

Boy that’s odd. Those smart escs like the firma could detect that it’s a 2s and not work but if the input voltage is that low it should detect a 2s battery. It’s worth a shot if you want to piece something together. Get yourself going before taking the plunge for something else. I’d also check to see if that’s the same esc being used in their 22s drag car.

the drk tries to eliminate the need to do this on a radio. for most other escs it seems we all do most of the fine tuning in the radio and then broad based settings in the esc

didnt like logging on the rx8 and the drk couldnt handle the lower turn motors. the mmx8s has been a game changer for me period

I think the rx8 is the best esc because u can run way lower turn motors and i believe is way stronger the only thing thats good about drk in my opinion is the launch control but u can do that in some remotes aswell maybe ill build another drag car with a drk to try it out

But some people don’t or can’t buy an m17 and the drk is the easiest for any new person to use and learn with. This is my opinion. The logging works way better then my tekins. Many new people don’t need 2.5-2 turn power. Heck many 3 and 3.5 people put up better times

For someone on a budget, a good ESC is a big investment. It’s really unnerving trying to select which way to go. Tekin, HW, Maclan, all recommended by different people. Seems like bottom line is, stop stressing, eenie-meenie-minie-moe it, and drop the ~$220. Then once you’ve spent the money, forget that the others exist, and learn how best to tune the one you picked.

You can actually just hit reset on the profile you are on and not have to reflash firmware

No it’s not the best good but not the best I would put it beside Tekin rx8 and not a notch above or below it’s all in the guy tuning the esc is not the deciding factor

rx8 is great..im using it my breakout car..but not eveyone has an m17 oir a fancy radio to take advantage and control that power
