Ye[a] (/jeɪ/ YAY; born Kanye Omari West /ˈkɑːnjeɪ/ KAHN-yay; born June 8, 1977) is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer, and fashion designer. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential hip hop musicians and producers as well as one of the greatest musicians of his generation.
Born in Atlanta and raised in Chicago, Illinois, West initially gained recognition as a producer for Roc-A-Fella Records in the early 2000s, producing singles for several artists and developing the "chipmunk soul" sampling style. Intent on pursuing a solo career as a rapper, he released his debut studio album, The College Dropout (2004), to critical and commercial success. He founded the record label GOOD Music later that year.
West explored diverse musical elements like orchestras, synthesizers, and autotune on the albums Late Registration (2005), Graduation (2007), and 808s & Heartbreak (2008). Drawing inspiration from maximalism and minimalism respectively, his fifth and sixth albums My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (2010) and Yeezus (2013) also received critical and commercial success. West further diversified his musical styles on The Life of Pablo (2016) and Ye (2018) and explored Christian and gospel music on Jesus Is King (2019). After multiple delays, his highly anticipated tenth album Donda (2021) was released to continued commercial success, but to mixed critical reception. He released its sequel Donda 2 (2022) a few months later, exclusively through a tie-in audio speaker service. West's discography also includes the full-length collaborative albums Watch the Throne (2011) with Jay-Z and Kids See Ghosts (2018) with Kid Cudi.

I want Kanye to get help, I do not want him to keep hurting himself. It hurts to see the person you grew up on just constantly hurting himself, but also not having the right people around him. i think the kanye issue is very complicated. there isn't a point you made that i don't agree with in principle, but at the same time i don't want to use bipolar as an out. the reason i don't think it can be for someone like kanye is that he has the diagnosis but given the things he says, he's not doing therapy, he's not taking medication etc so he's going around with untreated bipolar switching between long manic and depressive episodes over the years. if he's not even trying to get better then i don't really see it improving any time soon

The video is well thought out and voiced so elegantly. As a non practicing Jewish woman with Bipolar 1 (and former Kanye fan), I feel like you touched on the antisemitism and celebrity reactions perfectly. But on bipolar, I understand that paranoia all too well, but those thoughts come from somewhere. While there are other self-interested actors influencing Kanye and using him to spew their hate speech, he truly does believe these things. Paranoia comes from somewhere. The small correct talking points are overshadowed by his non-empathic, ignorant, and hateful words. I don't think trying to bring the few based points he's made is helping. It feeds into conspiracy theorists. One right thing can show how he can be right in general. His bipolar is not an excuse.The things I've said in the past while manic still reflect on my character to the people I've said that stuff to. But I'm not a celebrity, I'm not Kanye West. He needs to be held accountable and take his meds.

@@mider-spanman5577 People have examined it and still found it wrong. If slavery was a "choice", why were there slave revolts, escaped slaves, abolitionist movements, and a war where escaped slaves fought for the North? And that's not considering the many enslaved Africans that jumped off the boats to their deaths from slave ships coming off the Atlantic. The words come from a man that openly states he doesn't read books. And it definitely sounds like someone who doesn't. There were always a spirit of rebellion against the "slave mentality" and Kanye for his ignorance, did not acknowledge it.

Cope about facts that he once said something 4 years ago but now he’s obviously right that they had to prove him so while you worked up about reality, definitely cope. As someone who’s been diagnosed bipolar, I completely understand Kanye’s perspective on the paranoia and the delusions. Going through mania is essentially like putting your brain into a blender and scattering your thoughts. You’re not only incoherent, but your own thoughts are unreliable. It truly feels like everyone around you is out to get you and that you’re at the mercy of rash, euphoric emotions. The difference between someone like me and someone like Kanye is that I’m medicated and don’t feel mania as much anymore. Kanye needs to treat his mental illness if he ever wants to be taken seriously again.

No the thing is, Kanye has always spoken in a very line of thought kind of manner. Combined with the fact he speaks very emotionally and is a very creatively divergent thinker, people think he's batshit crazy simply because he doesn't suit the status quo of what you'd imagine a thinker or how a figure would express themselves.

while kanye’s behaviour can to an extent be credited to a bipolar episode, it is wrong to use that as an excuse for the things he is saying. these are things he truly believes and imo his expression of it is more so the result of the bipolar episode rather than the actual viewpoint being due to a bipolar episode.

As someone who also suffers from bipolar disorder, I feel like I must reiterate how mind altering mania can be. Mania comes in different severity but it usually flairs up during stressful moments. During mania there is little to no control over what the mind does how it reacts to anything. Something that can often be overlooked is that a person in mania is PHYSICALLY UNABLE to understand that they might be wrong, as in they are always right and anything that goes against them is either wrong or out to get them.

I don't agree that celebrities saying "I stand with Jewish people" is just self-righteous grandstanding. There are millions of people out there who agree with Kanye's antisemitic views. As a Jewish person, it's genuinely reassuring for me to hear that people are on my side, believe I have a right to exist, and think it's worth saying it out loud. Having said that, there's a lot I agree with in this video, especially the part about everyone's right to be seen as an individual, and that unfettered capitalism is turning us all into victims.

People with those views exist in our everyday life and there's no story to tell. It's not that celebrities can't care that something racist is said, it's just very convenient that it can make yourself look good by speaking out against it when another figure stirs controversy.

Most of the time I've heard him speak on abortion it's been from a very Christian "pro-life" angle. I think he's a really lonely man and has been so since his mom died. I get the feeling that he's an overthinker who struggles to open up to people about himself. His mom may have been the only person to whom he could speak his mind without fearing judgement. Since losing her, he has only surrounded himself with shallow and selfish people who can never even relate to him or his struggles let alone understand his perspectives and help him rectify them. And now that he's away from his kids, I believe as an overthinker, the man is only compounding his flawed opinions and, thus, making his problems worse and alienating himself even more in the process. And the lonelier he gets, the more radical his opinions will very likely become and, so, the sad vicious cycle goes on. I love this man for the countless hours of joy he's given me and I sincerely hope he finds a new purpose and some much needed peace in his life.

You do a great job of explaining the situation, everything it entails & how it's not JUST being focused on purely because how bad it is. But rather is being used by people for various personal & political reasons, that in a lot of ways have nothing to do with the situation at all. People need to wake up to how everything isn't so black & white, & is often not only Doesn't get solved but actually gets made worse by the fact that people warp the meaning of things to further manipulate others. The Man really is insane, but it doesn't mean people should be allowed to use it however they want to do for personal gain. I think many people often don't discuss situations the way they ought to be looked at purely out of fear for being outcast from society. Hower people aren't seeing that since most the majority of society is now hust a shrinking warped brainwashed societal consensus echo chamber, that maybe not being accepted by them doesn't mean social death. And that Maybe if they refuse to waver on the correct way to view things and spread their message like you have, that rather than being cast out, many people may decide to support and raise their voice to be heard by more people. Which Just so happens to be the best way we're ever going to fix a lot of this chaos in the world these days. Not only Is everyone consumed by fear these days, but many of the things that people are fearing (like unbiased objective perspective and analysis) are things they should be embracing!

You are making valid points to the important things he used to say. And that those shouldn’t be overlooked. But I think you in turn overlook that at his core Kanye has always been a self-serving capitalist. He may proclaim these social messages, but only as long as they serve an (artistic, financial) purpose for himself. His words, actions, wealth and how he used his platform speak for themselves. He is all about competition (being the best) not about community. He flaunts wealth and does not change the system by addressing any issues with his products. Like Adidas is able to address social and environmental issues with their products, they do so with more and more product lines. But with the extra expensive Yeezy line non of these topics are being looked at. He cares about profit and winning, not other people. This pushed him so far now, that he is slowly degrading, cause he had to take a few losses over the last years. His capitalist, narcissistic character can’t handle that and he is unhinged. You paint him as a mentally ill and temporarily misguided fighter for social justice. He is not.

What Kanye wants we all want, how Kanye feels we all feel, but who Kanye targets isn’t who we target. His anger towards Jewish people is definitely a personal one through personal experiences. Who were suppose to be fighting are elitist, but because of anti Semitism, Judaism has been put in the same box as elitism and that what we have to change.

The “profound” ideas Kanye is peddling are not his own to claim. Many people have come to these conclusions about the state of humanity or the state of life in America. Why is this profundity and so-called compassion and emotion even discussed in context with his anti-Semitic and anti-Black talking points? He has a responsibility as an influential public figure, mentally healthy or not. Kanye arguably has access to the best professional help that exists, unlike so many others suffering with mental illness. I’d also like to point out that he could be using these ideas as a mask to make it societally excusable to continue railing on about how he has lost his family.

@tribeofwolves
@tribeofwolves Жыл бұрын
@@man4437 to be fair “black” is not a nationality, but definitely is an ethnicity. Now the people the gentlemen in this video is speaking of, could be argued as just being a religion. Thus why it’s odd when a black person is criticized for claiming this faith. Especially, when many that claim the faith have heritage stemming from Russia and Poland and not regions were the biblical stories even took place. Also it’s really odd how black people can never bring up 400+ YEARS of American chattel slavery or Jim Crow segregation without being told to “get over it”. Even though many of the practices of that era have direct rippling effects on the community today. When the group spoken of in this video, speaks on their year 4 atrocity, it’s rarely any push back. Basically, treating Ye like Mel Gibson is not going to have the same outcome. Mainly because Ye’s lineage historically has a complicated history with the group pushing back against him.

i'm a from South Africa loved this video, you the first person i know who can see that Kanye West can be stupid sometimes and make stupid comments but he also has valid points. ppl are so quick to dismiss him and say they want nothing to do with him anymore (which is fine, you are entitled to do that) but i'm very compassionate towards him bcz i also have Bipolar (Tyle 2, two different types same disorder) and i understand when he said he feels paranoid and ppl around him feel fake. i also felt that when i had my first manic episode, i couldn't trust anyone and i felt so paranoid about everything. i have watched Anthony Fantano, Shawn Cee, Dead End Hip Hop, etc., all of them were quick to dismiss him and said that they are done with him (Dead End Hip Hop), which just makes the situation worse (and i'm not saying Kanye cares if these KZfaqr are done with him) but as a guy who suffers from Bipolar it makes me feel like i'm going to be alienated if my thought and opinion don't match that of that public opinion. it feels so numbing to see these many ppl to be so quick to leave him over comments, knowing well he's Bipolar. i'm not saying he should be excused from taking accountability for his remarks about the Jewish community but to say that he's simply stupid and insane and not acknowledge the root cause of these stupid antisemitism comments is just.. disheartening to me. again thus video is great and this is why i love your content.

Or it's possible supporters are using his bipolar disorder as an excuse for his anti-Semitic views he truly believes in. Not too far from people finding any other excuse for him like the fact he's an influential figure who has made music people like. I don't find any his actions excusable because they're disgusting whether or not he has a disorder. I believe he needs help but that he also is accountable for his actions. I believe he actually holds these beliefs and sides with people like Trump and this video has been far too charitable to avoid that fact. I totally understand why people are done with him. The world shouldn't revolve on whether or not he wants to add to the world's misery. I know you relate to him and his disorder but you shouldn't let how people feel about Kanye reflect on you. He's not a role model. Let your actions and character speak for themselves. You are your own person and I'm sure there are people like you that you can talk and relate to if you ever feel alone. Take care of yourself.
