A long time ago the first men discovered fire. They were able to light up and warm up.
This discovery marked a major turning point in human evolution. But men did not stop in such a good way, and their quest for evolution continued at full speed. Talking about speed, time was also one of the greatest questions of humanity. How could it be understood, domesticated, how could oneself adapt to its flow? Unfortunately, this measure of time became more and more obsessive. And the clock became the sacred mistress.
Nowadays we run after time and seek to stimulate our mind permanently. This is tantamount to wasting our most valuable resources. Our objects encourage us to do less, the everyday actions require no efforts, and our patience and attention to simple things is decreasing.
What if “living in the present” meant recovering some time to be enjoyed? What if we could reverse what man has always sought?
Let us try and distinguish each and every moment of the day. Let us try to mark them clearly from each other and extend the ones that we have drastically shortened. So that they can regain the right to take their place in space and time.
To switch on a light at home is a mechanical and immediate move that requires no concentration or special effort.
The fire, on the other hand, needs to be maintained. The flame, the warmth it generates, its social role, the effect it produces on our unconscious and all the other things it implies.
I created an object that doesn’t just light up autonomously. A living object that requires care, maintenance, delicacy and attention, so as to raise our awareness about enjoying the light at home.
