Just one correction... the requirement to change the iPhone region to Japan was removed in 2022. You can keep the phone in it's original region.

I ordered my Sucia card before the trip (on the same site where i bought my JRPass) preloaded with cash. This way i don't have to deal with a ticket machine while tired from a long flight an can head streight for the train.

Is the airport the only place to get a welcome Suica/Pasmo? Not Tokyo Station or anywhere else?

Please purchase at the special ticket vending machine at the airport station‼ Once the shortage of semiconductors is resolved, it will be possible to purchase tickets outside of airports as well. In that case, you can also purchase them at the Japan Travel Center at Tokyo Station😁

You mentioned if you buy a Suica in Tokyo, you can also use that card in Osaka. Is it the same for the Pasmo passport? Thanks.

Does this work in rural areas? If I go to Japan I will focus on trips on rural railways; there are so many beautiful lines as you can see on KZfaq. I thought of a JR pass.

help me understand, but isn't there a shortage of Suica card, so they are temporary no longer issuing any new card? It has been this way I think almost a year ago, and there isn't new of when it will become available anytime soon. Unless I'm wrong. So I'm not sure what's the purpose of this recent video guide?

no, you can use it anywhere fortunately. But, a little caveat, you can also charge your mobile suica in some ticket machines that provide an outside card placement by placing your phone (not the insert card type).

On our recent trip to Japan, my wife and I used our mobile IC card (ICOCA) app a lot, including ticket machines at ramen joints. We didn't even have to turn on our phones for the card reader to scan our app.

Nice video, the SUICA cards are somewhat available again but the availability varies day to day... Luckily I already have a standard physical SUICA card... I have read that one can "inscribe" or register a blank standard SUICA card by imprinting his own name and register: this way one loses the chance to give it back and be refunded the 500 yen deposit, but, on the other hand the card validity is unlimited and, should it be lost, it could be re-issued with a small fee, finding into it the amount it had at the moment of loss... Do You know if it is possible to register that already owned "standard card" using the machines or asking to employees on JR dedicated offices? I'd like to make my "standard SUICA" become a "My SUICA"...
