Just learned that Marlin lives around me..I've met him a few times and he was generous enough to give me a signed Upper Deck card from when played for Buffalo. Awesome awesome person

The Magician, He WAS, Merlin Briscoe. A True Athlete hell Briscoe my first American league Professional Football Hero,put it like this ,Briscoe go in and play defensive tackle. Like a Magician gone. Now playing defensive tackle the smallest, Greatest player on the field the MAGIC Man ,my Brother my first hero give thanks to Briscoe, Denver the reason I started loving the Broncos. Who was it Lou Sabo to hear him say it ,Man my first choice I want to give my Eulogy. For a minute I was waiting to hear, Briscoe can walk on water too .LIKE HELL YEAH! HATS OFF to Both my Heroes.I thank God for the few that helps me not think ,all are BAD .

I became a pittsburgh Steelers because of Joe Gilliam number 17 and he was not running quarterback running cbs was some bs the NFL made up to keep blacks from playing this overrated position. If you look at some of the terrible white qbs you would have taught they were playing for the other team based on all the interceptions the white quarterbacks threw. I'm talking about Bart Starr Joe namath and other quarterbacks. History Will prove it. They more interceptions than touchdown case and point

My family had season tickets to the Broncos back in 1968 in the imfamous south stands section 'CC' at Mile High Stadium. Lou "Half-a-Loaf" Saban was the coach at that time and Marlin had 20 times the talent of Steve Tensi. Yet Tensi was the starting quarterback, go figure. If Marlin was flushed out of the pocket the fans would rise to their feet because he was always a threat to the defense and could score at will. Why he wasn't allowed back to a starting role is anyone's guess, but one thing for sure he was a fantastic football player and for that matter a great person for his time as the first African-American to start at QB in the NFL.

Thats cool as hell man. Ive been a broncos fan my whole life i live in colorado 35 yrs old and just now found out about this guy. Im guessing its because the quarter back position is like the captain of the team and white folks didnt want no black guy captain of no team back then. Kind of shot themselves in the foot with that one if you ask me.

Didn't know he was such an excellent receiver with the Bills. had a 1,000-yard year. Then two Super Bowl wins with the Dolphins as well. That is a heck of a career, despite the disappointment at the quarterback position.

So - my previous response was "whitewashed" from KZfaq comment section...let's try this again. There is a lot of "history" that gets swept under the rug [not merely "downplayed"]...like the fact that Robert E. Lee, during the Civil War, made a practice of taking captured Black soldiers, and delivering them South into slavery...despite the fact that most of those Black soldiers had been born as free men.
