The idea of mourning someone you can't even remember properly but know you had love for has always struck me about the loss of Sasha--she was great, everyone liked her, and she deserved to be remembered...but against their will, her friends can't even do that much. It's harrowing.

Reminds me of that one creepypasta where during the night, the protag heard a noise, went to check it out, found his parents dead and ran back to his room for safety. He hides under his covers even while whatever the thing is drags his parents' corpses into the room and props them in a way they stare at protag. He is freaking and then the creature starts writing something on the wall with the blood from his parents' but the protag cant see it cuz its too dark. The story ends with him finally being able to read it and it says "I know you're awake." Creepy stuff for sure

7:21 As a psych major, I know something about this, in case anyone is curious. Facing your fear generally helps it go away if you're in control and exposed to a manageable level of fear. If you're forced into an overwhelmingly terrifying situation against your will, your fear is likely to worsen, even if nothing bad actually happened. And, just like this case, what seems like a child overcoming their fear could be just them learning that it's pointless to try to seek help from a caregiver for it, so they suffer in silence instead.

Jeez how did single phrases managed to completely change the whole tone of the parts?? Tim's little "How was she like?" absolutely destroyed me, I mean it. Wow. And "The blanket never did anything." terrified me. Honestly. One of my favorite statement so far. Also Melianie did not have an easy start into the job, but she already managed to get involved with a wanted man, playing spy for him, in a deadly supernatural institut. What a Queen.

@TheNitpickChick 3 жыл бұрын
I mean I find him to be rather justifiably an asshole. For one, he’s mourning his best friend, Sasha. Yeah he doesn’t know for sure that she’s dead yet, but he heavily suspects. Not only that, but with Melanie’s testimony about the two Sashas, he would have to suspect that she was killed and replaced with a doppelgänger. Given Tim’s background with... (spoilers 🤫), I would imagine that particular detail would hit him especially hard. Plus, he’s been attacked by worms, been stalked and under suspicion from Jon for months, thrown through Michael’s hallways, and told that after all that, he can’t even quit. He has to stay in this death trap of a job until he dies horribly too, and there’s nothing he can do about it for him or his friends. I think after all that, a bit of bitterness, hopelessness, and asshole-ish attitude is rather warranted and to be expected. ☹️ (But yeah, I do miss happy Tim. 😞)

Wouldn’t everything have been fine if the victims just left the lights on while they slept? I know the statement said that daylight made it go away but I don’t know seems like it would be worth trying

Didn’t the statement giver say the light didn’t work in that room and they had to see by torch light? Im guessing if he tried to move to another room or even stay at someone else’s house it would still find its way to get him

@@aliyinn3186 The statement said that the light didn't work in Robin's bedroom (the victim at the beginning of the story who the main character was asked to check on). I guess that could imply that this thing somehow disables lights, but I would have tried leaving them on at least.

Other statements with supernatural darkness also have this thing where torches don't work as well as they should, so I don't think the man really had a choice there.

well... nevermind that I was already scared when Doctor Who approached this topic and did so woth a happy ending of all things, this... let's just say i'm very glad I watched it in the afternoon. Anyways, Melanie clapping to mark the start and end of the statement for some non existent editor is very precious, adorable and essential characterization and I loved it. Im not even going to talk about Tim

My guy, if all the lights are off while it’s still light outside, there’s a person in the house that vanishes as soon as you seen them, and the door is unlocked and open, common sense says this dude is probably getting robbed. Why on earth would you continue to go in there anyway?

I posted this on the fandom wiki as well, but I thought I'd share it here too, in this small comment section. Maybe it'll resonate with a few people. The Magnus Archives has never been a very scary podcast for me. A lot of the horror is...yes, scary, and existential, but ultimately, not something I usually find to be terribly scary. I mean, I even have an anxiety disorder. But the Desolation, The Buried, The Spiral, The Beholding...most of it is simply too much to be scared of. Incomprehensible horror has never done it for me. I've never been scared of the things I couldn't understand. I've never been scared of things that don't make sense. But this episode gets me to the very core. I've never been so scared of the dark, but now, and even as a child, I always remember when I had to walk through my dark, unlit room, I'd make as quick a dash towards my bed as possible. To the safety, and warmth, my covers provided. I don't know what I was terrified of. I still don't. Things like this, to be blunt, don't exist. At least nothing with true proof. But the idea of something being in your doorway in the middle of the night, and creeping ever closer to you, nasty, and foul smelling, and wrong...It chills me to my very core. I never much liked hanging my foot off the mattress. There's always the fear that there is something in that dark. Something terrible. Something trying to get me. And the only comfort I'll ever have is that it won't.

The way it moves reminds me of the weeping angels in Doctor Who.
@TheNitpickChick
@TheNitpickChick 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I can see it. It’s kind of like the reverse of the weeping angels. The weeping angels can’t move if you’re looking at them, so you have to keep constant eye contact with them. This creature chooses not to move until you’re looking at it, and will stop when you look away and hide. (But only if you’re afraid. If you’re too comfortable, it will keep moving when you look away and attack you to make you fear it again. The blanket never did anything, after all. 😉)
