Hi James, We fire to cone 8 then soda, continue to fire to cone 10, most glazes we use are cone 10, BUT remember the soda is fluxing down the glaze melting point, so they will NOT be just like your normal cone 10 red firing. You could use other temp glazes, just give it room to move and see what happens. Good firing to you - Steve

Wow. The kiln is built out of high duty fire brick, and the second layer is insulated firebrick. Bricks made out of clay that had cork mixed in so the r value is higher. The type of kiln is call a catenary arch kiln. A chain is held upside down on a board and the curve of how the chain falls gives a person the curve for the inside of the kiln. 13 hours is not to many hours for a kiln this size. What makes the pots look great is that the high duty bricks absorb so much more heat energy and then cool at a slower rate giving the glazes time to have a better melt. The soda is introduced by spraying or burrito method. And really it should have taken a week at most to build the kiln.

Hi, what type of glazes can you use on the inside, meaning what cone glazes?
