A thangka is a Tibetan hanging scroll, usually painted on cotton, and then placed in a silk brocade mount. Unlike other types of paintings, there are many rules when it comes to making a thangka. Watch Tibetan artist Buchung Nubgya create a thangka of Avalokiteshvara, the Buddhist deity of compassion.
