My hats off to the floor engineer; this is not easy to do; the effect was amazing; electricians; carpenters; mechanics, ac+r techs; scaffold builders; hydraulics; all first rate. Sync and timing flawless. These DIOR people have their shit together.

The velvet flowers should have been showcased on their own instead of being tossed on to an already busy headpiece where they looked like an afterthought.
@jakemoeller78508 ай бұрын
Agreed, they are exquisite.
@heatherlea5612 ай бұрын
So so agree. The flowers are exquisite and those absurd beanies are just an insult
@RixMorales2 ай бұрын
While I agree with it being showcased on a separate presentation, I don't think they don't complement the beanies. It was meant to modernize an old tradition, and the velvet flowers greatly matched the popping colors of the beanies. Perhaps they were just underused and not prominently showcased. Also, if you haven't watched any Chinese period dramas that depict Imperial China, ronghua are meant to be accessories to headpieces, they were never worn alone.
@damz979Ай бұрын
I understand what you mean, but to be honest, traditionally these flowers were not worn alone, they were always combined with other accessories. So for me, a Chinese, it's refreshing to see them used in a modern way, although I don't understand many high couture design, but that's another story...

I went to school with Stephen Jones, he was always different and dressed outside the 'norm' for the period (70's) and I remember one year he did an internship in Hollywood studios in milinary at a time when people were not really wearing hats. He forged ahead with his own idea and his vision and life and fashion caught up with him! He was always a gentle, kind and reserved person.

Really? On another video you said you met John Galliano and your dogs played together 😂 I'm hoping this is true
@TheFiown9 ай бұрын
@@stargirl1613 Yes he lived in the Marais in Paris and I lived nearby too. Our dogs were playing together one night but I didn't see it was John at once until he spoke and then I realised. He was nice and well spoken and that's the version of him that I want to keep. I do know what fashion does to people, it takes over their lives and at Dior he was designing ten and more collections a year. LVMH has a dedicated person whose job it is to provide 'entertainement and extras' for all their designers. I have worked in fashion all my life and done many shows and the work is exhausting. I did sacrifice my private life and kids but I loved my job. In hindsight I don't thing that I would have given so much to the job now. I paid the price.
@ivonaradic57749 ай бұрын
@@stargirl1613 vau, you are really mean. my mother was a model in the 60's and met YSL and was a friend with Salvadore Dali while living in Paris. Is it soooo hard to understand that we in Europe encounter fashion designers, painters, artists on daily basis? I met a few Gringos who laughed at that, until I showed them pictures. Don't judge a book by it's covers dear. In your case, those covers would tell us a completely different story. And no, english is not my mother tongue, and yes, i do speak 4 different languages, if you need to comment on my grammary as well... have a great day!

Watching how they create these pieces is just as great as watching the show
@christopherfeatherley10 ай бұрын
Agreed! I'd actually argue seeing how things are made might be a smarter marketing strategy. I adore fashion, but you have to admit the modern shows aren't as thrilling as they used to be. People will argue that the reasons the models don't dance or strike a pose anymore is so the audience focuses on the clothes, but a quick view of the comment section on *any* runway video will show you people are more focused on who's walking, how good their walk is, and rarely is there any mention of the clothes 😅 So this argument, to me at least, doesn't stand. I always loved the intricate details, although short, of how the clothes are made. It makes me cherish the time and effort put into them. I actually learned a lot from these videos to make my own clothes and bags! 😁

Hello Dior Team, I am so fascinated by the v-neck top!! That collar which is made out of one piece is such a great work! But I just can not figure out how that is done. I know there are so many people working on such a collection and much more in your company but is there any chance to get a picture of the pattern or an explanation on how this piece is done? You would make my day 🙏🏼 I really want to sew such a piece for myself for a wedding. I want to blow peoples minds!!! Thanks a lot in advance

Hello, I have been in a sewing class for 5 years now (in Italy). My teacher is amazing, I show her an image and she help me to draw the pattern. It is easier to say than it is done. I am usually the one making the more difficult pieces and I will make this one this year. I would love to share what I will learn. Ciao

I always wondered why houses like Chanel never ventured into menswear; it would be definitely popular, and a huge profit margin for them. Yes, I'm aware there are a few tweed jackets that have been customed made for a handful of male celebrities, but I'm referring to men's ready-to -wear. Originally, tweed jackets were intended for Scottish farmers in the country side, and you often see them in these mute greens, grays, browns. It wasn't until Chanel reintroduced it for womenswear where we see the bright, textured, colourful tweed used in this video. I hope, soon, colourful tweed becomes a staple in men's wardrobes 😁 It is an absolutely beautiful and timeless textile I can see either sex wearing. Bravo, Dior!

Nope, nope, nope... could somebody at Dior PLEASE hire a designer that can create real clothes, for real men, living in the real world.
