Hello everybody I am so proud to announce that the documentary on the Hawker Siddeley 01200 series cars is being made! I made reference to this project a few months back and I didn’t really do much with it since I have been struggling with mental health. Since then I have improved significantly and I am ready to begin working on this full time!
To put in writing what I said in the video. I am looking for 12 related content that you guys may have. that being old images, video, documents, audio etc. Specifically I am looking for content of the 12s being manufactured, delivered as well as content of them when the southwest corridor first opened. if you guys could provide me stuff like this i would greatly appreciate it. To send it to me please join my discord using the link below.

There's an interesting thing I found out during the 1980's the T was working on the Alewife Extension and gernarly extending platforms to 6 car trains. So the T had the 01100s retired from Wellington brought to Cabot. Now the T during this time had some lack of trains. The 01400s wore in bad condition primarily multiple were in out of service. The T wanted to use the 011100s on the Red Line, although this never happened because the 01100s created space gaps at the station, plus the 01100s were In strict work car activity which these were used mostly at night. As to provide trains on the Red Line the T actually wanted to use the Hawker Siddeley 01300-01319 on the Red Line for revenue use, although this has never happened so the T got the 01700s from UTDC

Some more information The T issued in 1973 for a replacement for the Orange Line and Blue Line. The contact was signed in August 19, 1976 to Hawker Siddeley, Canada INC for the purchase of 70 cars for the Blue Line and 120 for the Orange Line. The same day of purchase and Widrawn. The married couple cars the MBTA corperated with UMTA requested Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) conduct engineering test with each married pair at the Transportation Test Center in Pueblo, Colorado. The Blue Line Hawker Siddeley 0600s from April 11 to October 1979. The 01200s from Febuary through April 1981. More Information given soon. I think you could also do the 0600s in the 01200s, cause their the same thing and have a big relationship. Apparently the T is going to retire the Pullman Standard 01500's and 01600s in July 2024.

Hears some information Manufacturer: Hawker Siddeley, Canada Model: No.12 Main Line Electrical: General Electric Length: 65 feet (20 meters) Width: 9 feet 3 inches Seats: 58 Golden Seats (1979-2006), Colorful Leather Seats (2006-Present) Total: 01200-01319 (120) In Service: February 6, 1981-August 19, 2022 Cars out of Service: 48 Scrapped: 72 These were signed to be purchased in 1976. Fun fact the T actually contracted Hawker Siddeley in the 1950's to replace the Standard Steel 0900s serious. Although they selected Pullman Standard 01100s in 1957. Information about the 01100s Manufacterer: Pullman Standard Model: No. 11 Main Line Electrical: General Electric Length: 55 feet Width: 9 feet 3 inches Doors: 3 Each Side Total: 01100-01199 (100) In Service: April 1957-November 9, 1981 Scrapped: 1981-1987 Preserved: 01178 & 01179 by Seashore Trolley Museum in 1991. The 01100s were having issues in the 1970's. Due to constant derailments on the Charlestown Elevated. Also not being able to couple on curved tracks. Also part of the Southwest Corridor project and the Red Line Alewife and Braintree Extension. The T ended up purchasing the 01200s in 1976 instead of planning to be purchased in 1987. The 01100s made it's last run on November 9, 1981. The 01100s wee converted to work equipment in 1983, these ran on the Southwest Corridor for testing, also carrying bricks, and used in the Southwest Corridor, also several sets were transfered to Cabot Yard in 1983, to help with the Alewife Extension. The 01100s got scrapped in 1987. Except for 01178/01179 remained at Wellington Yard until 1991 those two were sent to the Seashore Trolley Museum for preservements. The 01200s original had golden leather seats until the mid 2000's these got seating replaced also flooring replaced. The main problem with the 01200s were traction motor failure and also the location it was placed in, got snow piled in it. The T has retired all 01200s in April 2023 from ther term "In Service". The T transfered 36 to Wellington Yard and 12 to Forest Hills Yard. Although vandals graffitied the 01200s at Forest Hills, so the T ended up transfering them to Wellington with 01281 being the lead car. Apparently the T has been running alot of 01200s around Wellington. 01264/01265 got parked next to the main line track sourh of Wellington with lights on, and Destination sign on. If you check Wellington the T turned on multiple 01200s with lights on and Destination sign on. The T may run the again one last time. I do have a few footages of the 01200s one at North Station and one at Forest Hills back in 2021. I due have more footage Although my old phone got broke, and needs to be repaired. If you check Wellington you will see the 01200s actually operatable. There is a photo taken by the T of a 01200s car being scrapped and torn down at Middleboro. The T Apparently still considers 01214/01215 still on prep to remove list, even though those two are gone. The 01200s actually have the roofs made for Pantographic to be installed like the 0600s. Although that never happened. Keep the hopes in the T will run them one last time, cause multiple had been running last week around Wellington.

I have a question, cause what I seen at Wellington may lead to the fact we all know. When the T gets new CRRC's do they have you hauler ramps to place them down on tracks? Cause what I have seen at Wellington... all 48 01200s got moved to the edge of Wellington, every single car has lights on, with 01294 moving all the units. Now next to them were haulers which may have came from Costello. Now two cars were directly next to them. Now if the haulers weren't for CRRCs to be placed on track. Then this may lead to the fact we all know what's going to happen. Also some community saying that 01292/01293 are being removed and are going to soon be Decommisioned down. Although I usually believe what the T says. Now this is very unfortunate news haulers next to the 01200s and moved to the edges of Wellington

👋 Orange Line Motorperson here! I first want to say, I started driving the orange line around about May 2022. That's life. The other trains needed to go. Nothing can last forever, they had a great run (longer than they should have) and they really pushed it with them (because we realize people love them). The fire over the mystic river was the straw that broke the camels back. They are not safe and we had to make a decision, either keep people like nick happy, or provide a safe ride to the other passengers that use this line. The new CRRC trains are much more user friendly, wider doorways, more seating, better lighting, automatic stop announcements, better pickup, our wheelchair passengers have stated that they are much more comfortable to be on. The new ones were a win, win for the MBTA. The old orange line cars were also ruining the running rails and the conductor rail. It is a bit silly (to me) to say and or think the old orange line cars will get "one last run". I can promise you it won't happen. I work there full-time and I kinda know what I'm talking about. You see them moving around in Wellington, because we are getting them ready to move out. We have about 56 more, new CRRC'S on the way in to complete the replacement process, and where the old cars are currently sitting, is where the new orange line cars will need to go. We will look them over, take them down the test track and then add them to the rotation and they'll pick up passengers. We hope you will give the new cars a chance. We tried to have them designed to look as much as possible as the old cars. Stay tuned, because the red line is next to get done.

@@dave_daveSo why do they have lights on, if anything is going to scrap it has to be properly Decommisioned. Such as Traction Motor removed, Monomoter removed, Battery removed, wires and cables cut of. Still many have lights on and Destination Sign On. Although a set had been moved to the left side of the facility. I know that you work for the T, and you know more. I guess no one is aloud to run the 01200s

@nafisali2434 6 ай бұрын
@@dave_daveAlso I know the 01200s are old and all. Still I don't think it was good idea for the T to select CRRC. The thing is it's a new company also cheap product. 1400/1401 derailed at Wellingtm and is still "in repair" for 3 Years. Also 15 of them broke down December 2022, they found broken cables and broken Axles. I'm not defending the 01200s. It's just that the T could have selected companies like Bombardier, Kinki Sharyo, UTDC, Alstom, or Kawashawki. Like I don't how long the CRRCs will last, already 1400/1401 is damaged. 1402/1403 flicked at Back Bay couple weeks ago.

@@nafisali2434 I talked with the head honcho this morning, about what you and the others are saying you see. So, it looks like we WILL be keeping some of them for now. We use them for training. We just hired some new motor people and they need to be trained. The old cars are what we are using for training, apparently. That's why there are lights on and that you are seeing what you're seeing. You are correct though, they do need to be properly decommissioned, and things need to be removed. We aren't doing that just yet. So, if you wanna see them moving around, your best bet is to go to the catwalk at Wellington, walk out halfway and look down on your left. That's your best spot.
@dave_dave

@@nafisali2434 I will say one other thing, I WISH they brought the orange up a little higher, on the sides of the cars. Next time you get on the orange line, look at the sides closely on the cars, there is a lip about halfway up the side of the cars, that is where the orange should have come up to. They only went about 1/4 of the way up and then around top half of all the cars. They should have done up to that lip. Look next time you get on. Also, the new stainless steel bodies are to prevent rust from taking up residence on the cars. They tried to do a new updated look, but also tried to stay with the look of the former cars, to have some familiarity. Our fleet guys have corrected the issues with 1400/1401. The flicking was caused by the pickup feet not fully making contact with the conductor rail. There is going to be an adaption period there. For the last 40 years, they were used to the same thing running over them, everyday. We'll get there. It may take some time, but everything will work out.
