There is a legend about it. In 1830, the spire of the Peter and Paul Cathedral in St. Petersburg was damaged. A man named Pyotr Telushkin volunteered to do the repairs. He climbed to the top without scaffolding - using only ropes - and did the work of repairing the covering of the cross and soldering the wing to the angel. For the work done, he was paid a reward of 1 to 5 thousand rubles, but after an article was written about Telushkin - by the then president of the Academy of Arts), the whole of Russia started talking about the "heavenly roofer" and he was presented to the emperor. Legend has it that when Telushkin was asked if he wanted to ask the emperor for anything, he asked only for one thing-a certificate allowing him to drink for free in any tavern. As you can imagine, Telushkin then often got drunk to the point of losing his memory and lost his paper. After this was repeated several times, instead of a new one, they put a brand on his throat, and he just tapped it with his fingers to pour alcohol when he went to another pub.
