Thank you so much for all of your videos! I’m French and have been learning Russian for about 2 years now but since I only have a 2-hour class each week, it’s clearly not enough to improve quickly. So your videos really help me to improve my level of understanding! Finally some videos that are both subtitled in Russian AND English, they are so rare!

На самом деле надо сказать, что в советское время люди и сами делали море вкусностей и очень часто, торты пекли, пирожные, конфеты трюфели, печенье, все было объедение.

От советских продуктов тут если честно только названия, хочется хоть на день в детство попасть и снова поесть сливочное мороженое, или ледок, а больше всего московское эскимо, люди, которые родились уже после распада СССР, никогда уже не узнают насколько это охренительно вкусно. Сейчас конечно много вкусняшек тоже, но некоторые вещи, незаменимы.

Как это - небыли арахиса? С 70-х годов (с ранено детства) употреблял этот продукт под названием « земляной орех»! Только он тогда продавался всегда в скорлупе, по два ядрышка.

Love the chak chak! but guess is sounds like chuk chuk to me. Yall have some chocolate bars dark choolate that have???? little bubbles in them? they are the best. the dry sunflower bars are awesome as well. Kvass though? I couldnt ever get used to it? they would sell it in the summertime when I was there out of large drums on trailers throughout the city, just being American I could get used to the taste. Cool video, appreciate it. Cheers

Thanks! I noticed the woman dressed in blue pronounces the Р (r) a bit harder then the other presenter. Does this have to do with where she's from? I noticed Гуф (Guf, the rapper) has the same accent. I also sound a bit like them when i speak Russian because i'm Dutch

Аленку я любила, но она была ещё в других двух вариант, я сама делала, такие орешки, у меня была такая орешница. Я 1977 года рождения, живу в Питере. Клюква в Сахаре я не любила. У нас в городе была кондитерская Север оно существует с 1905 года, в детстве самый большой праздник купить оттуда пирожные 🤦‍♀️🤦🥰🤦‍♀️🤦🥰

The Kuzya look like our Cheetos Cheese Puffs, only our are coated with powdered cheese. All the snacks looked very yummy. Some I have tried here in the US. In some cities, there are large Russian populations and they have their own stores with products from Russia. I absolutely love the "Martin" semechki, I eat them whole!

Популярные - да. Традиционные - ни разу. Традиционный из этого разве что квас, и то здесь какой-то газированный суррогат, вместо настоящего кваса. И да, батончики Рот Фронт - просто бомба!

These were actually less similar to our sweets than I thought it would be! Generally, similar versions of most products can be found over here as well, but pastila is rather rare and have not seen corn sticks with powdered sugar (but there were simple corn sticks without sugar). Actually, only oatmeal cookies, kvas, halva, waffle cake and sefir are usual here. And chips!

When I was in Ucraine bought some chocolates Alionska, did I give one to my grand , she asked me who is the girl and became so facinated with the picture! Today she has no memories and not good helth.

Boiled condensed milk лучше заменить на dulce de leche. Не waffles, а скорее chocolade filled wafers. Corn puffs - это кукурузные палочки... Зефир можно просто назвать маршмэллоу, но веганским. Не придираюсь, просто так людям понятнее будет, что это за вкусняшки ;)

I've often wondered whether 'kvass' is named after the Norse deity Kvasir, who was made of the spit of other deities.

I doubt it is "named after". Distant relation is quite possible, however. According to my etym dictionaries, "kvas" is related to : latin "caseus" cheese, sanskrit "khathati" (to boil), gothic "hvathjan" (to foam). If the last word is someway related to Kvasir -- bingo. (There is, however, more obvious cognate -- english "cheese")

Interesting. Your oatmeal cookie looks more like a 'ginger snap' to this American. Our oatmeal cookie has more whole rolled oats. Also usually has raisins too. Interesting note about peanuts, in the Deep South USA I grew up with peanuts everywhere. Polina is much cuter when she smiles, keep her smiling. Thanks all !

Почему "Every Russian Ate in Their Childhood"? Я родился в 1960-е годы, детство мое прошло в основном в 1970-е, и многого из показанного вами тогда не было. Кое-что я даже до сих пор не попробовал.
