What is the meaning of life? Ajahn Brahm tackles this perennial question by starting with the goal - peace of mind - and working back from there. Even though it seems like were are after all sorts of other goals in life, what we’re really looking for is peace of mind.

I'm Muslim, and I love listening to Ajahn Brahm. I approve his teachings and think, definitely, that meditation and some Buddhism aspects can bring peace into one's life. May all people be free from racial hate and racism.

Marvelous speech (without any notes). I just finished his book "Who ordered this Truckload of Dung" for the nth time. I keep it in the car to read when I'm waiting for my wife or kids. If the missing ingredient in your life is self-forgiveness (it was missing for me all my life), just forgive yourself everything with this logic: forgive yourself in order to love yourself in order to love others. Without self-forgiveness, you won't be truly useful to anyone. It worked for me.

Another fun and great talk of Ajarn Brahm. Thank you for posting. My real peace of mind is being with my beloved dogs.Well, I realize that it actually is having fun with whatever I got to do. But sometimes the degree of fun just can't be controled. I guess I still have to keep on practicing.

And, also sticking to old stereotypes and being afraid to cross one's own religion to reach enlightenment. I kind of felt that when I became a 'Christian' that I could embrace any religion, but I was also told that I couldn't and that I had to stick strictly to my own beliefs. Personally, I take one day at a time. There's no meaning in it, except for the people and animals I meet.

I find peace of mind doing my needlework in my house, reliving the positive memories i have and any negative memories i have, i either write them out of me on my ipad, an mind you there are a lot of very cool fiction stories there, and i put some of my positive memories on tapestry canvas, yes needlework, that way i can forget the anxiety of past problems, i also write about my past lives and also i created a belief that people get reincarnated, but there imaginary part floats around in space

mind you, your earth body is on earth, going through everyday life, while all the past lives are floating around in outer space, waiting for a perfect opportunity to add more differences to each earth body, you see i get better peace of mind from that, instead of complaining about things i know nothing about, anyway i just love doing art, and my past forgotten, present i am living, and the future i am waiting, and creating, yes i am cool to my point of view

I am a Christian and have embraced many of the Buddhist beliefs. However many Buddhist beliefs however I believe are Religious rather than philosophical. Peace of mind is good, but having it as the objective of life is religious. Saying that, If you don’t make peace with the world, you are going to be one miserable Sod.

I would have to respectfully disagree with this... I think it is to actually to live and be in between point A and B that to get from one place to another. That's the point of this video as well. Be in the now rather than going after something trying to get from A to B. Live in between, Live in the now! :-)

buddhist think happiness is the meaning to life. "meaning to life" has become a popular phrase. approaching life as a problem. "meaning" by definition is simply reinterpretation, therefore, BY DEFINITION, is opinionated.

The question of the meaning of life may be asked in many ways, such as Why are we here? or Does my life have a purpose? The Bible shows that our purpose in life is to build a friendship with God. Consider some of these fundamental truths that the Bible reveals. God is our Creator. The Bible says: “It is [God] that has made us, and not we ourselves.”-Psalm 100:3; Revelation 4:11. God has a purpose for everything he creates, including us.-Isaiah 45:18. God created us with a “spiritual need,” which includes the desire to find meaning in life. (Matthew 5:3) He wants us to satisfy that desire.-Psalm 145:16. We fill our spiritual need by building a friendship with God. Although the idea of being God’s friend might seem far-fetched to some, the Bible gives us this encouragement: “Draw close to God, and he will draw close to you.”-James 4:8; 2:23. To become God’s friend, we must live in harmony with his purpose for us. The Bible states this purpose at Ecclesiastes 12:13: “Have reverence for God, and obey his commands, because this is all that we were created for.”-Good News Translation. In the future, we can experience in full God’s original purpose for us when he eliminates suffering and grants everlasting life to his friends, those who worship him.-Psalm 37:10, 11.

That's not true. First get to know Buddhism and then comment, Im sure you know nothing about this grate vision, its not a religion it's a vision. Ill tell you a saying by Buddha Dont believe any thing because I say so, just analyse it by your own thoughts do research and then if you feel like its right believe it How liberal is that? Can you name any religious leader who has given the same freedom of thinking?
