I have confession to make. Since I was a teenager (oh so many years ago), I always wanted to have a beautiful poncho. However, the people around me and my family were always apalled when I brought up this desire. When I started knitting again after I retired 2 years ago, I was always on the lookout for a great poncho pattern. I was stunned by your shawl! I can't wait to knit it. Thank you so much for your willingness to share this great pattern.

I was able to go to Scotland for the very first time this Summer. We spent 2 weeks and wished we could have stayed longer. We felt very much the same way you did about being in the US. Different words, beautiful accents, driving on the opposite side of the road, etc. We stayed the first week in Dunfermline in an apartment near the Abbey. We LOVED Edinburgh, the green green rolling hills with sheep everywhere. We traveled to the Isles of Lewis and Harris and the Isle of Skye. Glen Coe was spectacular. It took my breath away! Oh and the castles!!! I hope very much to go back someday.

That is so amazing to learn your color season is Winter! I have never had my colors analyzed but I have been fascinated to the point where I started guessing what other people's "seasons" may be and always thought you suited the Winter colors! I believe my season is Summer, I absolutely am cool toned, never doubted that, and have found the softer colors work better for me. Thank you for sharing all the loveliness of your stateside trip Amy!

Another wonderful podcast! I had my colours done in the mid 1980s. I always went for greys and browns. Unbeknownst to me, it turns out I am a Winter with some Spring! I felt the exact same way as you when I went shopping for some new clothes in my "colours" and tried on a very bright fuschia blouse. It was like Wow, there I am! The lovely birds are indeed Blue Jays. They are one of the birds that hang around through winter. It's always so wonderful to see their bright blue feathers amongst the bare branches in the middle of winter.

Thank you. Your podcast today was just what I needed. I’ve been taking care of my best friend for the week. She has been experiencing some deep blahs. I’ve had to be the perky uplifting friend to help her deal. Your positivity and “loveliness” were just what I needed. So glad you had a good adventure in the USA. I totally related to your feeling of being overwhelmed. Thanks again for being you.

Wonderful video - so uplifting!! I love your new colors. I have my colors too and it makes shopping such a joy. And yes, it is a Blue Jay and they are significant to winter because they do not migrate and their color is a lovely contrast to the snow! As are Cardinals, who are red! ❤

For purely selfish reasons, I was disappointed that you might not finish your Stephen West shawl. I seldom finish mine in time. Love your colours. Also loved your shawl episodes where you show all your shawls, and where you show all your SW shawls. I love your podcast, especially the cards. Thank you.

Bluejays are such beautiful blue birds! A blue bird of happiness. They are big and somewhat dominant. We have them in Maryland. I just can’t wait to get my hands on your poncho pattern. I have some beautiful wool from the British “The Raw Wool Company” and a skein from Welsh sheep from “Nellie and Eve”. My maiden name is Davis, so I am very pleased about the Welsh wool. Your trip sounds lovely. Hope the USA was not too overwhelming.❤

Happy Birthday, may the coming year be a good one for you! Thank you for another thoughtful episode, your sense of peacefulness and the poetry you add is a balm for the soul. What a whirlwind your trip was, I wondered how you would survive the festival since it seemed that every floss tuber I watched during the festival that was attending, had you on their list of the person they most wanted to meet. You seemed to be the Queen of the festival! Thanks for sharing. I wonder if I can vote on what you do with your Geogradient shawl? The first time I discovered your podcast was your shawl episodes. I was so knock-down impressed - just astounded at your collection. I think this one deserves to hang on that wall! You have knit many of Steven's designs and I always admire how you interpret his patterns with your expert knitting and your choice of yarns. My vote is for this year's MKAL be added to your collection!

So pleased you had a positive experience at the Pick Up Every Stitch event. I was sick that day and couldn't come to work but thrilled you were happy to see the Gallus sample I made. I had hubby drop it to the shop but didn't have time to block it. It's now blocked and bloomed beautifully in the Les Garcons yarn. Congrats on such a lovely design. I enjoyed every stitch. Can't wait to make the poncho too!

I am so happy that you will be writing up a pattern for your lovely Poncho design, Thank you xx 🙂 I am a beginner knitter, and one of my reasons for starting up knitting is because I love Ponchos but can never find ready made ones to purchase. I have been searching for a nice pattern, so was extremely interested when you showed your lovely poncho on your last podcast. I also feel that with all your experience with knitting shawls, this could lead you into many different interesting Poncho designs in the future. A colour work one would also be nice, although I am a long way off being able to do colour work. Perhaps a joint venture with Jackie Rose, the Soho Poncho. PS The Winter colour pallet looks so beautiful and radiant on you. Happy Birthday for tomorrow

I loved hearing about your journey to NY Sheep & Wool and all of your other little journeys associated with it. I cannot imagine how exhausted you must have felt and probably still feel. You told us at the end to "take good care" and I certainly hope you do too. I have never been to NYC or NY Sheep & Wool but I have watched many recaps of the event and other nearby events and so I do appreciate hearing about your travels. Happy Birthday Amy! Quite an adventure you had with so many memories of your friends. I was laughing right along with you! The fall season is so beautiful here, with all the winter birds trying out their new flight patterns into the trees. We are putting up and filling bird feeders. A lot of the smaller birds, chickadees, finches, cardinals and doves like to eat from the ground and it seems to be the job of the Blue Jays to empty the feeders in search of the black sunflower seeds. I can spend hours watching them.

Thank you for another lovely podcast and for sharing your adventures to New York and Wisconsin. While I did not attend Wool and Folk or Rhinebeck, I was saddened for you and Rebecca, Megha and all of the attendees, as it did not start on a high note. But, in your positive spiritf, you had a good time. I have always felt that these kinds of events really are more about friendship and community than just the commerce side. Making new connections and sustaining existing ones will never equal to a sweater’s quantity of wool. With that said, your new colors are gorgeous! I am so looking forward to knitting your poncho and a Gallus wrap. I am looking forward to your next episode and to seeing all of your new knitting projects. Cheers!

I really enjoyed your Rhinebeck Ramblings! It was great to get your impressions of the whole event. Although I did not go to Wool Folk (thank goodness and I really wanted to go) I did attend Cake Palooza which was lovely as they have “timed“ tickets so there was no overcrowding. When you said “overwhelmed“ I understood perfectly as my reaction was that! Sooo big sooo much…sooo many people. I think next year if I go back I will do a little trip on the Saturday but return on the Sunday to buy my yarn when it is less hectic! 😂 Everyone tells you how huge it is but until you live it you can't imagine it. I also bought yarn from Nash Island and Loops! I got lovely yarn from Garthenor that was new to me 😊 so soft I got a sweater's worth. There were so many booths that were hard to get near to. Loved your poetry readings with Jackie ❤. Would love to have my colours done 😊 happy knitting, Elaine

I hope you continue with your MKAL as clues 3 & 4 have really interesting texture stitches and I would be so interested in what you think as they seem-to be a bit marmite in the community with some saying they take ages and are repetitive striped boredom, and some loving (like me) the novelty of learning a technique like this and the comfort (required) of a repeating pattern.😊

Happy Birthday 🎉 My mother had the same birthday. Blue Jays is also the name of our Toronto pro baseball team. It is lovely to see them on a snowy winter day. 🇨🇦🇫🇮

I just found your podcast…your sense of humour is hilarious 😆 …considering to just wear the skeins around your neck like a cowl to get home! Thank heavens for your fibre friends who made the visit a lot smoother.

What a fun video. Thank you for sharing your adventure with us. The yarn you purchased is stunning. And I just laughed when you said you said you, “cosplayed as Fall”, you were a lovely Fall. Your Goddess readings sound so interesting, I would love to get one. Happy Birthday 🎉 lovely Scorpio. May it be a wonderful one! Happy creating 💚🧶💚

I used to colour work and identified you as a winter quite a while ago. You are astounding in that pink sweater!

I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about your American adventure with which I connected on a few levels. First, Happy Birthday on the 7th... mine is the 8th, so hello fellow Scorpio! Second, I'm not surprised that you are a winter because you look lovely in that pink! I also used to do color analysis in the 80's, and it's still amazes me that wearing the right colors on a day that you don't feel your best can make you look as though you feel fantastic! Thank you for the suggestion for the book Art and Wonder. How amazing is it that you and Jackie both selected it, and her choice by sheer fate! I believe I've found, in that book, the perfect gift for my very artistic daughter-in- law for Christmas! Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, Amy. As always, I enjoyed spending a couple of hours with you!

Can’t wait for the poncho design. It’s the shape. It’s so flattering. Ooh and I love your trick of swapping presents for others to presents for yourself 😉. Good for you!

The bird stitch marker IS a blue jay; good instinct, Amy. I'm so pleased to see Firefly Notes in your collection; she's a tiny, mostly one-person business who lives and works right down the street from me. She's always at yarn events here (in Vancouver, BC area), but I didn't know her reach went as far as Wisconsin! What a lovely (lol) episode. I'm glad you had a good time at Rhinebeck and A Woolen Affair to help you overcome the overwhelm of Wool & Folk! How wonderful that you got to connect with Jackie R in person at last! Isn't Madison lovely? I loved my visit there.
